hofsaak by die Suid-Gautengse hooggeregs-hof in Johannesburg aanhangig gemaakteen ses skole wat godsdiens beoefen. Ogodhet gevra dat dit ongrondwetlik verklaarword en sekere godsdienspraktyke deur diehof verbied word.“Ons wil nie die Grondwet verander nie,

maar vra bloot dat om dít wat reeds daarin

staan, te implementeer,” het hy gesê.Dié saak het in 2008 begin toe sy drieling,

Hy het by rolprente be-trokke geraak ná hy in 2010 vir ’n M.-graadin mediastudies aan die Universiteit vanKaapstad ingeskryf het, waarvoor hy die do-kumentêre film On a Thumb and a Prayer

vervaardig het. Vir sy tesis vir sy meesters-graad is hy aangeraai om ’n filmteks vir ’nvigilanté-fliek te skryf. “Dit was my eerstekennismaking met narratiewe filmtekse enhet direk gelei tot die konsep en skryf vandie kortfilm Die Buurtwag,” vertel hy.Hoekom Durbanville?“Durbanville is waar ek groot geword het

en verstand gekry het. Ek ken die gemeen-skap, het nog baie vriende in die omgewingen sal altyd lief bly vir die plek. Dit het ’nperfekte balans tussen die ou idealistieseidee van hoe ’n woonbuurt moet wees, maardaar is deesdae ook ’n invloei soos in die resvan die land, wat ’n interessante dinamiektot die eens ‘rustige’ buurt bring.“Dit word deels ingesluk deur die stad,

maar is aan die ander kant nog genoeg‘plaas’ om soos ’n dorp te voel.”

Drunk driving in Durbanville seems tobe a huge problem with a record totalof 28 drivers arrested for drunken

driving at two roadblocks in Durbanville inone night – the highest ever recorded on asingle night.This information was shared by Durban-

ville Community Police Forum (CPF) repre-sentative John Klassen at a meeting of theDurbanville Community Forum (DCF) lastWednesday evening.In a statement issued last Monday, the

Automobile Association also stated its con-cern over drunken driving.According to Klassen, the information

sent to him by Cape Town Traffic Servicesrevealed that 28 drivers were arrested be-tween 20:00 and 04:00 on Friday 15 May fordrunken driving. Another two driverswerearrested for reckless and negligent driving.

SpeedingA total 492 offences were registered, of

which 258 were for speeding in FairtreesRoad between De Bron and Sports roads,and 175 for speeding in Durbanville Roadbetween Door de Kraal and Kendal roads.The highest speed recorded was 120 km perhour in the 60 km zone in Fairtrees Road.Another 15 unlicenced drivers were also

fined.At a previous roadblock in Durbanville

on 20 February, 19 driverswere arrested fordrunken driving.The highest reading was 0,99 g/100 ml

blood – almost twice the legal blood-alcohollimit of 0,5 g/ 100 ml blood.

At that roadblock 662 fines were issuedfor speeding – 251 for speeding on Durban-ville Road betweenDoor deKraal andKend-al roads, with the highest speed 128 km/hour, another 212 fines for speeding offen-ces on Fairtrees Road, and 199 for speedingon La Belle Street between Old Paarl Roadand Willow Road.In its statement issued last Monday, the

AA expressed concern about drunken driv-ing.“In 2001, 62,5% of pedestrians and 51,8%

of drivers who died in crashes tested posi-tive for alcohol.“In 1998, the drinking rates of pedestrians

were up to 12 times higher than drivers,”stated the AA.“Drinking rates for drivers dropped by

nearly two-thirds nationally from 1989 to1998, while for pedestrians they dropped byaround 44%,” according to the statement.

Ignoring the lawBy 2008, the last year forwhich aNational

Injury Mortality Surveillance System(NIMSS) report is available, the pedestriandrinking rate was nearly unchanged at62,2%, but for drivers it had shot up to57,6%.“Not only was the drinking rate for driv-

ers higher, but the average blood alcoholconcentration of drivers was 0,17 – almostfour times the legal limit.“Drivers were clearly ignoring the reduc-

tion in the legal limit to 0,05, which took ef-fect in the late 1990s.“Based on the alarming increase in the

death toll over Easter 2015 compared to pre-vious years, we think it unlikely the role ofalcohol in crashes has declined since 2008.”

A decision by the City of Cape Towncouncil on 2 June to shift the delegati-on for decisions about traffic calming

to Transport for Cape Town (TCT), could be

reconsidered.Gerhard Fourie said in his chairperson’s

report at the monthly meeting of Subcoun-cil 7 (Koeberg) last Monday that the delega-tion to consider andapprove traffic calmingmeasures will in future resort with TCT.“We are awaiting the administrative pro-

tocol in terms ofwhich applications – thoseon the waiting lists and new ones – will bedealt with in future,” he said.Fourie told TygerBurger subcouncil ma-

nagers will meet this week to discuss theway forward.“In the past, traffic calming was a delega-

tion of the subcouncil. Theward councillor,who serves the community, followed a pro-cess with the ward committee, after whicha recommendationwasmade in termsof thetraffic calming policy,” he said.“We want residents to take part in public

participationand forus tobeable to overseethe process of traffic calming,” he said.The new draft traffic calming policy will

soon be circulated for public input, he said.In terms of this new draft policy, traffic cal-ming is only recommended near facilitiessuch as schools, public open spaces, shop-ping centres and retirement homes.

For many children born with specialneeds the journey to an independentadult life is an uphill battle. With stag-

gering statistics on the end result of chil-dren born with Foetal Alcohol SpectrumDisorder (FASD), a child protection organi-sation has revealed their vision for a newhome in Milnerton.

Home of Hope in Table View was foundedin 2005 and cares for children who havebeen abandoned, abused, raped, neglected,born with FASD or infected with HIV. Theorganisation cares for children in clusterfoster homes and is now working hard tomake their dream of having a family homein Milnerton a reality.

They recently acquired a property in Mil-nerton which formerly housed an old agehome and chief executive Eleanor Brooksays its 18 rooms provides enough space forthe organisation. She says more than 80%of the children in the organisation’s caresuffer from FASD, making their needsunique. Brook says according to statistics,between 600 000 and 700 000 children areborn with the disorder each year and morethan 80% of them end up in the social servi-ces cycle, unable to progress.

Fighting chanceAt Home of Hope, each child gets a fight-

ing chance to be the best they can be. Caredfor by caregivers and social workers, thechildren are given a structured lifestylewhich helps them cope and progress.

Brook says they have been running clus-ter homes for three years and now plan to

run a child youth care centre in Milnerton.The difference with this home, is childrenwill be permanent residents and the centrewill not be accessible to the public. Brookexplains that because many of the childrenhave been abandoned, they have been in theorganisation’s care since they were babiesand no parents or family visit the home.

Social worker Bianca Breytenbach sayswith a focus on special needs, the organisa-tion aims to create a family home which ca-ters to the needs of children. “We are tryingto find the balance between strict routineswith the need for a family home.”

Aiding developmentIn addition, Brook says children have

grown up with their caregivers and onehome would not only further aid their de-velopment but provide the opportunity forcaregivers to support each other. With thenew home, siblings will no longer have tobe split.

“For the caregivers, this is not just a job,this is their passion. Looking after childrenwith special needs is very different and thishome will enable them to support each oth-er and assist them with debriefing,” shesays.

Breytenbach says with the new home, theorganisation hopes to restore what hasbeen lost.

Home of Hope has embarked on a fund-raising drive to raise R1.2m to pay off theproperty. In addition they will be undertak-ing restoration work aimed at improvingthe home.

premise as Mediclinic Durbanville in Wel-lington Road, predominantly serves peoplefrom the northern suburbs of Cape Town, aswell as the adjacent Swartland agriculturalarea.Mediclinic Durbanville Day Clinic is the

Because patients are selected for plannedprocedures, the patient knows the date ofsurgery well in advance.According to Christine Taylor, hospital

A Durbanville family was robbed ofitems worth about R350 000 earlylast Thursday morning when

three robbers confronted the home-ow-nerwhen hewas about to leave forwork.According to Durbanville police com-

munications officer Lieutenant Mar-chell Rhode, the home-owner was alrea-dy in his car in his garage in De DamRo-ad in Vierlanden at about 06:15 while therest of the family were still asleep insidethe house.He was about to leave his home to go

to work and when he opened the garagedoors, three unknownmenwith balacla-vas entered and threatened him. One of

the intruders was armed with a gun andthe other two wielded knives.They forced him back through the

door into his house and demanded cash.They took him to the safe in themain be-droom and forced him to open it.They took about R20 000 in cash, jewel-

lery, cell phones and iPads.According to a witness, the suspects

may have fled in a white VW Polo withtinted windows, Rhode said.The rest of the family woke up while

the robbery was in progress but no shotswere fired and nobody was injured.Rhode said the robbers gained access

to the front of the property by jumpingover the wall.No arrests have been made yet, he

said.

Meet Joshua and Annie, the parents ofa nine-month-old baby.

Joshua is 38-years-old and used tostop reading any sentence that included thewords “testator”, “executor”, “fiduciary” or“estate”.

Not only didn’t he understand these words,but he had to deal with the nagging suspicionthat he really should.

If it wasn’t for Annie’s insistence, Joshuawouldn’t even have a will today.

He would be a personal finance simpleton,like the majority of South Africans.

Joshua understood the importance of ha-ving a will, but he never thought he ownedenough to go through all the trouble of actual-ly having one.

TygerBurger spoke to a few personalfinance gurus for their take on the matter.

“South Africans do not like to think abouttheir own mortality,” says Shalene Schreuderfrom Shalene Schreuder Attorneys.

“Some would even say they don’t concernthemselves with what happens after they’redead.”

Visagie Vos Attorneys’ Werner Greeff saysthat a large section neglect theirwills becausethey think they don’t have a cumbersomeestate.

“They might have a small house, but if theydie you don’t know how to transfer the pro-perty to whom,” he elaborates.

“Also, if there is an estate involved thenthere is a very big chance that those left be-hind will start to fight with one another. It’sbetter to just draft a will, say who inherits,who’s the executor and Bob’s your uncle.”

There are many reasons to have a will.To use the case studymentioned above, one

of the main reasons for Joshua to get a willwas to avoid Annie’s wrath.

AV Dawson & Co’s Abraham Dawson seesthe bigger picture: “Thewill is your voice fromthe grave. The final disposal of everythingyou’ve left behind and built up.

Freddie Steyn from FPS Law reckons thelack of proper education is the main reasonwhy themajority still don’t have bindingwills.

“Once you start educating someone theywill understand the importance of having awill and the good things that flow from that.If any one sector had to take the blame thenit must be the schools, but all the sectors playtheir part in this lack of education. Thereneeds to be a huge awareness campaign regar-ding wills,” he opinions.

When asked about statistics of all thosewith wills opposed to those without, Steyn

said he didn’t know the figures, but that “it’snot looking good at all”.

Greeff argues this lack of a sense of urgencyboils down to a lack of personal developmentand education.

The fact remains that people are not finan-cially savvy, but if they understood the reper-cussions of their ignorance then they wouldeducate themselves.

Says Ernest van Staden of Madeleyn Inc, “Ifyou don’t have a will your whole estate willbe divided in terms of the law of intestate suc-cession. This means your family will have nosay inhowyour estatewill bedivided. Theper-son who you most likely would have givenyour estate to runs the risk of not getting it.”

Van Staden uses the example of a man whodied without a will and lived with his belovedgirlfriend till the day he died.

Unfortunately his estate was handed overto his much-maligned ex-wife due to the law

of intestate succession.Schreuder’s example also highlights how

devastating it can be to die without a will.“The wife was in her secondmarriage when

she passed away. Her husband paid for every-thing because she didn’t work and they didn’thave a will. Then her children from herpreviousmarriage also became heirs and thenthe husband’s house had to be sold becausethe children also had to be paid out,” she says.

Dawson adds that if one dies without a willthen your estate will be managed by someonewho doesn’t have a clue as to what you reallywanted to happen to your possessions.

“The master of the high court would haveto appoint an executor, who in many caseswould be the spouse, who would obviously begrieving,” he explains.

Banks and estate companies also offer ser-vices to the public that assistwith the admini-stration of one’s estate, but Dawson has aword of caution.

“Very often the fees they charge areextremely high. It’s important to note thatyou can actually negotiatewith your executorbeforehand that their fee will be limited to acertain percentage of the asset value.”

Drafting a will is neither a lengthy nor anexpensive process (unless you are amulti-mil-lionaire).

If the reasonably insubstantial cost of draf-ting a will puts you off then it’s best to waitfor Wills Week in September.

“During thisweek all the lawyers that parti-cipate in this law society project will draft astandard, basic will for people at no charge,”says Greeff.

“Last year we had over 30 people who camein to draft wills,” concludes Steyn.

Hollywood het verlede week in Brac-kenfell geland!

Vervaardigers van die nuwe Afri-kaanse romantiese komedie, Hollywood inmy Huis, het leerders en personeel by dieHoërskool Brackenfell, waar groot dele vandie fliek verlede jaar verfilm is, Donderdag-oggend trakteer op ’n vertoning van die filmin die skoolsaal.

Die langverwagte film word Vrydag in tea-ters oor die land heen bekendgestel, en diewoord op straat is dat dit ’n groot opskud-ding gaan veroorsaak.

As die bekende fliekresensent Leon Van

Nierop die film ’n 8-ster-gradering gegee het,gee TygerBurger dit 10 uit 10 – kolskoot!

Nie net is dit een van die snaaksste Afri-kaanse flieks wat jy in ’n lang tyd sal sien nie,maar ook ’n tere liefdesverhaal met ’n sterkboodskap: die verwesenliking van jou dromeis soms nader as wat jy dink.

En boonop is die film op eie bodem in ver-skeie noordelike voorstede verfilm.

Die storie speel hom af teen die agtergrondvan ’n matriekafskeid in 2004.

’n Gewone tienermeisie, Jana van Tonder,wat aan die “verkeerde kant van die spoor-lyn” woon, word geïnspireer om haar eie rooi-tapyt-oomblik te skep, nadat sy op televisiesien hoe Charlize Theron haar Oscar-beeldjiewen.

Die verhaal bevat ’n goeie dosis romanse,nostalgie en selfs ’n tikkie hartseer met dieregte balans en is ’n lewendige komediewat jou lank gaan bybly.

By die geleentheid het André Pretorius,skoolhoof by Hoërskool Brackenfell, gesêdat dit ’n plesier en voorreg was vir diéskool om deel te wees van die produksie,wat ook sowat 200 plaaslike leerlinge in rol-le as filmekstras gebruik het.

Dylan Voogt, mede-vervaardiger, sê dieskoolterrein en atmosfeer by die skool wasdie perfekte omgewing vir die draaiboekvan die film.

Christea Visser, wat die rol van Jana ver-tolk, sê dit was ’n uitdaging om weer ’nskoolkind te word.

“Om weer ’n skooluniform te dra en nadaardie tyd van jou lewe en na die dingevan daardie tydperk terug te keer, was ’ngroot uitdaging.

“Maar dit het my baie gehelp om lewe inmy karakter te blaas.”

Dit het Corné van Rooyen skrywer en re-gisseur, nege jaar geneem om die AFDA-kortfilm, Hollywood in my Huis, in ’n vol-lengte-rolprent te omskep. Sy eie kinderdaein Silverton, Pretoria was die inspirasie ag-ter die storie.

“Ek lyk dalk nie baie na Jana nie, maarhierdie storie is eintlik ’n baie persoonlikestorie,” sê hy.

“Ek het altyd geweet dat my eerste rol-prent ’n persoonlike verhaal sou wees. Ekput my inspirasie uit die liefde, my familieen om te dagdroom.

“Wie en wat ’n mens ook al word, dit blyjou familie wat jou voete vas op die aardehou.

“By jou familie weet jy wie jy werklik is.”

Een hiervan – ’n hartsaak vir haar,sê tannie Elna – is die Blankets for Blik-kies-projek wat deur haar en ’n vrien-din, Sandra Marais van Stellenbosch,begin is.

TannieElna verduidelik: “Ons leer ’ngroep van 25 vroue van Blikkiesdorpnaby Delft om te brei. Ons is ’n helegroep wat hieraan saamwerk.”

Die groep maak onder meer mussies,slaapsokkies en truie, maar kombersegeniet nou voorrang.

Kombersprojek“My vriendin Sandra het hierdie kom-

bersprojek begin nadat sy gehoor het datdaar verlede jaar mense dood is van diekoue in die ‘blikhuise’ daar.

“Dit raak vreeslik koud in daardiestrukture,” sê tannie Elna.

“Nou leer ons die vroue om die komber-se te brei.”

Sy sêwanneer hulle Vrydae naBlikkies-dorp vertrek, neem hulle al wat beskikba-re wol is saam.

Tans werk hulle aan ’n klomp kombersevir Mandeladag.

“Die vroue kan elk die eerste komberswathulle brei, vir eie gebruikhou.Die ver-dere komberse gaan dan aan behoeftigemense wat hulle identifiseer.

“Die oorhandiging word opMandeladagin die saal van die Hoërskool Linden inDelft gedoen,” sê sy.

“Sê vir die mense ons doen ‘double knit-ting’. Ons maak staat op allerhande dradewol, ook vier-draad, en gaan alles gebruikin die Mandeladag-projek.”

TannieElna voeg by dat hulle sukkel om

voor te bly met die wolvoorraad.“Kan jy nou dink: daar is 25 vroue en

elkeen kry twee bolle wol elke Vrydag.Teen Maandag is dié wol opgebrei!” sêsy.

“Die ‘charity-wol’wat ons koopkos so-wat R1 000 elke week.”

Sy sê hulle twee bak ook pannekoekevir hul buurt se kamera-projek. Dievroue dien albei op die buurt se komiteewat hierdie projek – én ’n gemeenskaps-tuin vir Hoheizen – behartig.

Voorts bestuur die tannie ook ’n sosia-le klub indié gemeenskap, is sy lid vanetli-ke boekklubs en ook ’n komiteelid van ’nvoetslaanklub.

“Haar talente is nimmereindigend en sybly besig!” lag Alma.

Toe TygerBurger tannie Elna self oor aldié ander projekte wil uitvra, sê sy: “Nee,my kind, jammer, jy sal maar weer moetbel. Ek móét ongelukkig nou gaan.”

Marketing manager Johanna Strausssaid they have negotiated a special priceof R70 per shirt with a local supplier.

Strauss said people can donate R70 orbuy shirts for them directly.

They are also looking for partners tohelp paint the interior of a 12 m x 17 mdouble storey unit.

lustig. ’n Kiewietpaar land op ’n sandban-kie. Daar het al selfs ’n pelikaan sy landingin dié dam op die grens tussen Stuiwerparken dieHelderzicht Estate-kompleks gemaak.Dié “wonderwerk” is die handewerk van

die huiseienaarsvereniging van die Helder-zicht Estate-ontwikkeling in Murraystraat.Die huiseienaarsvereniging het verlede

jaar in April beginmet ’n projek om die damte omskep in ’n eko-gebalanseerde dam. Diedam is ’n jaar gelede leeggemaak en liggiesuitgeskraap. Daar is toe begin met die her-bou en landskapering van die damwal.Al die uitheemse vissoorte, hoofsaaklik

karp, en baie van die eende is verwyder.

FasesDie projek is in fases verdeel. Die eerste

twee fases, wat sowat ’n kwart van die dam-wal behels, is deur Lynda Muller van Envi-rowise in samewerking met Pierre Depaepevan Riverside Aquatics behartig met diehulp van inwoners. Dié eerste twee fases hetsowat R200 000 beloop.In ’n verslaghetMuller gewaarskuas geen

plan met die dam gemaak word nie, kan ditlei tot giftige alge of droë modder, asook dieopbou van voedingstowwe. Sy het gewaar-sku dat ’n droë winter kan meebring dat diemikrosiste of blougroen alge opbloei. Dit isgiftig en kan die dood van voëls, visse enselfs mense veroorsaak, lui haar verslag.Nou is die damwal ’n lus vir die oog. ’n

Besproeiingspyp is in die somer aangelê omdie plante te laat gedy.

Die derde fase is deur die inwoners selfaangepak, met Envirowise in raadgewendehoedanigheid. “Ons is nou presies halfpad,”vertel Gerry Burger, ’n trusteelid van Hel-derzicht Estate, trots. Hy en sy vrou, Rentia,werk byna daagliks aan die projek.Hulle het pas begin met die volgende fase

omdie damwal buite die kompleksmet plan-te te begin aanplant.

cently installed thanks to ajoint effort by the Tygerbergand Bellville Rotary Clubs.At the commencement of

the current Rotary year, Bar-ryEvans, president of theBell-ville Rotary Club, suggestedthe four clubs in Cape Town’snorthern suburbs – Bellville,Tygerberg, Durbanville andOostenberg – should join for-ces and startworking togetheron various proposed projects,share ideas, resources, andgenerally support one anotherin a greater effort to benefittheir communities, said ReneLesch, public relations officer ofthe Tygerberg Rotary Club.

BrainstormingThis proposition culminated in

regular quarterly meetings towhich the presidents of the fourclubs are invited to discuss andshare ideas.The Rotary Club of Tygerberg

then identified the need for an ab-lution facility at the look-out pointon top of the hill at the TygerbergNature Reserve.“After obtaining quotations as to

the cost of this venture, we ap-

proached the Bellville club for fi-nancial assistance. They agreed ina flash and so the wheels were setin motion,” said Lesch.“As permission was required

from the City of Cape Town as toexactly where the toilets would beplaced, the necessary plans had tobe submitted for approval.“We were fortunate and very

grateful to the architect, ArthurCraik, who voluntarily drew up allthe required plans at no charge tous. We are so appreciative of theprofessional and efficient servicehe rendered,” Lesch said.At long last, during the fourth

quarter of 2014, everythingwas in place and work on theproject began.“On completion, it was dis-

Goldy Fuchs is making greatstrides in achieving his ulti-mate goal – being chosen

to compete in the 2016 Rio Para-lympic Games.

The 23-year-old from Brack-enfell won bronze in the roadrace and a fourth place in thetime trial at the UCI Para-cyclingRoad World Cup held in Maniago,Italy earlier this month.

“I am very happy winning amedal on the world stage againstsome of the very best cyclists. Ihave won some medals previouslyduring World Cup events but thisone really takes the pressure off. Ihope to keep my good form and pro-duce more medals in the upcomingWorld Cup and the World Champi-onship thereafter,” said Goldy.

Welldeserved place“The time trial route passed

through the narrow streets of thevillages of Alba and Campagnaand ended on a cobblestonesection in Maniago where Iclaimed a well-deservedfourth place in a verycompetitive field of racers.

“The road race got off to a good start forTeam South Africa where I won bronze. Agroup of four riders managed to break awaybut in the last lap we caught up with two ofthem. On the final stretch, I managed to takethe best line through the 90 degree cornerand sprinted into third place on the cobbled

finish line,” said Goldy.Through a friend, Goldy met up withhis new coach Boyd Roberts from

Blaauwbergstrand. The two havebeen working together closelysince the beginning of this yearand the results are nothing shortof remarkable.

PositiveGoldy will jet off to Germany on

20 July to compete in a World Cupevent before the ever importantWorld Championship in Switzer-land from 28 July to 2 August.

“My goal for now is a top five fin-ish in Germany and I definitelywant to finish in the medals inSwitzerland.

“My training is really going welland I am positive of some good re-sults. The more I compete overseasthe more comfortable I get with theconditions and the level of compe-tition,” said Goldy, brimmingwith confidence.

Goldy has been selected for theSouth African Para-cycling teamthat will compete in the UCIPara-cycling Road World Cup tobe held in Pietermaritzburgduring September.

“It is always nice to compete in front ofyour family and friends. I am really lookingforward to the challenge and hopefully win-ning,” he said.

Dane Brand is not your ordinary 15-year-old. Standing 1,87m tall and weighing95kg, it is no wonder he is competing onthe Kyokushin-kan karate world stage.

The Grade 9 student at DurbanvilleHigh School is the latest TygerBurgerSportstar of the Month winner.

According to his coach and mentor Shi-han Hennie Bosman, he has all the attrib-utes to be a champion.

“We travelled to the Junior KyokushinWorld Union championships in Russialast December. Dane narrowly lost a veryclose fight with the eventual winner inthe second round. He was also fighting inthe under-15 category against older boys.

“He has tremendous work ethic andyou will go far to find a more humble andfriendly young man. I am very proud ofDane. We are now working towards thenational Len Barnes tournament in Sep-tember,” said Bosman.

It also comes as no surprise that he ispart his school’s under-15A rugby teamand is no slouch with the discus duringthe athletics season.

“Firstly I want to thank everyone in-volved. It is a very big honour and sur-

prise for me to be the sportstar of themonth,” said Dane.

“My journey in karate started when Iwas six years old and I love every minuteof it. Shihan Hennie might come acrossas intimidating but he is nothing short ofa great coach and inspiration to me. I alsowant to thank Sensei Sydney Veremuwho also works with me.

“For now the focus is the Len Barnestournament and it will be great to repre-sent my country again on the world stage.I won’t go as far as to say it takes the pres-sure off now that I have been to a worldchamps, but I know what to expect andthat makes things a little bit easier.”

Hennie Bosman fromthe Welgemoed Koykushin-kan dojogives him a R1 000 cash and Dr Costa Kap-nias will give Dane a few free sessions atReady Room where athletes and sports-men are assisted on scientific principalsto perform to the best of their abilities.
