Get ready for an exclusive Summer School of Discipleship course with our newest member of the pastoral team, Rev. Jack Peebles. Means of Grace is an exploration of spiritual disciplines starting June 7 at 9:45am in room 310 of the Edington Ministry Center. This 8-week course is designed for those who want to understand how to deepen their relationship with God using transformative tools. Each week will feature teaching and time to actually practice the disciplines in class; topics like prayer, meditation, service, study, and more. And every Sunday is a stand alone lesson, so jump in! Today marks one the major holidays of the Church. When Jesus was in the upper room on the night before He was crucified, He told the disciples that He would send a Comforter, the Holy Spirit to be with them after He was gone. The very name of Jesus, Emmanuel, means God with us. After He had risen from the dead, Jesus told His disciples to wait and to remain in Jerusalem until they had received power from on high. The disciples were obedient and did receive the power of the Holy Spirit a few days later. Gods plan was to spread the gospel to all nations. Pentecost was a pilgrimage feast so that people from all over the world came to Jerusalem. The people heard the gospel in their own language. Youll note the international flavor in worship today both in music and in word. We are reminded that the gospel was poured out on all peoples of the earth. - Dr. Dan Sharp
