    T R A D I T I O N A L W O R S H I P

Have you ever thought what would have happened if

Jesus had not ascended back to heaven? Forty days

after the resurrection, Jesus physically left the disciples

as He ascended from the Mount of Olives just east of

Jerusalem. As He left, He told them that He would return

in the same manner. The Ascension of Christ is often

overlooked, yet is essential in the completion of Jesus

mission on earth. It is a witness and a guarantee of our

bodily resurrection. In addition, it is an invitation to set

our hearts and minds on things above where Jesus is

seated at the right hand of the Father interceding on

our behalf. From there He rules over all things in heaven

and on earth. When Jesus was on earth He could only

be in one place at one time. His departure (exodus)

from this world meant He could then send the Holy

Spirit to accompany all believers everywhere, all the

time. He bid His disciples to remain in Jerusalem until

they received power from on high. That moment comes

next Sunday as well celebrate Pentecost. We continue

to await His return in the same manner as when He left,

when every eye shall see Him. Youll note the references

to the Ascension throughout our worship this morning.
