    NOTES

    FAMILY WORSHIP SUNDAY

Our church family gathers a few times a year to worship all together - combining our Genesis and Traditional styles and celebrating God all in the same room. Many of our members say they love and look forward to these special Sundays throughout the year.

Family Worship Sunday simply means our whole church family worships together. Its a great opportunity for children and students to worship alongside their parents and share in the experience with all ages. Its also a chance for them to participate and help lead in worship, so that our offering to God is representative of our whole church body.

You may wonder why the cross is still on the chancel with the white cloth draped on it. Easter was celebrated for seven weeks by the early Church up until the time of Pentecost (May 24th this year). The white cloth was a reminder of the empty graves clothes when Mary and the disciples appeared at the tomb that resurrection morning. He is not here! He is risen! It was during these forty days after that glorious morning that Jesus appeared on several occasions to His disciples and to hundreds of others. This visible cross is a reminder that we are still in the days when Christ remained on earth in His glorified body. Lest we be tempted to think of these Holy Week events as merely an inspirational story, we have the clear picture of events happening in chronological time that changed the course of history. Our Lord suffered great humiliation to bring great glory to all who would put their trust in Him. He is the one weve come to worship this day as weve gathered for this Family Worship service. - Dr. Dan Sharp
