UPDATES & NEWS My dear parishioners,

This month we began our traditional 46-day Rosary in preparation for the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe, on December 12th. This is a very beautiful tradition that allows us to reflect and deepen into the mystery of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This Mystery is intrinsic to our Marian devotion. The Rosary is the prayer par excellence that can be offered to the Mother of

God: Holy Mary. This simple and methodical prayer helps us to: (1) pay homage to Jesus Christ; (2) to meditate on the great truths of our faith; (3) spiritually clothe ourselves against spiritual enemies; (4) walk on paths of conversion and sanctification; (5) gain spiritual indulgences. By praying each mystery of the Rosary, we have the opportunity to reflect on precise moments in the life of Jesus Christ and his Blessed Mother. With eyes of faith we can witness the infinite love that God has for us by giving to us his Only Begotten Son. We too witness the Love that Jesus Christ has for us by giving to us his own Mother, the Virgin Mary. Jesus Christ being on the cross gave Mary as the Mother of all humanity: “Then he said to her disciple: There you have your mother. And from that moment the disciple took her with him” (John 19, 26-27). Praying with the Rosary allows us to discover how Mary is a loving mother. She cares for her children who come to her aid: “That never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession, was left unaided.” The Virgin Mary is our true mother. She is always helpful, loving, dedicated and above all protective. Each Hail Mary is like a heartbeat that gives us hope and encouragement to continue walking towards Our Lord Jesus Christ. As Church we speak to the Virgin Mary and she listens to us, she encourages us to listen to the voice of her Beloved Son. That is to say, she intercedes for us, she leads us to Jesus Christ, she encourages us to infinitely love the One whom she conceived by the Holy Spirit. This devotion of the 46 Rosaries can help us to regain awareness of such a beautiful treasure that we have. Let us not forget the blessings we receive when praying the Rosary and above all, let us not fall into the enemy’s game by thinking that we do not have time for this prayer. There can be many other excuses: I do not know how to pray it, I forgot, I had a very busy day today. But we can pray it on the way to work or home, while we are at home, walking at the park. We could to make a personal examination of the blessing that the recitation of the Rosary gives to each one of us. Holy Mother, “under your protection we take refuge,” protect us from all evil and make us “worthy of receiving the promises of our Lord Jesus Christ.” In Xt Fr. Juan Salas

NEWS & EVENTS - ST. ANTHONY - NOTICIAS Y EVENTOSACTUALIZACIONES Y NOTICIAS

Juan Salas
