This Week At St. John

Sunday 9:00 am Trinity Sunday

Tuesday 5:00 pm Mass

Sunday 9:00 am Body & Blood of Christ

Sunday Mass: There is No Obligation to attend Mass on Sunday until further notice. If you have any doubt about coming to church you may want to consider coming on Tuesday at 5 pm. We ask that everyone wear a face mask; sit in designat-ed pews and use hand sanitizer upon entering the church.

Ordinary Time: By all accounts we could say that we are not living in ordinary times, how-ever, this is what the Church calls the days fol-lowing Pentecost Sunday. The word ordinary used in this sense means (order, numbering, counting) of days. Today and next Sunday we continue to wear white at Mass for the Feast of the Holy Trinity and the Feast of the Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi). June 21 will be the 12th Sunday of Ordinary Time. The priest and deacon wears green vestments, and the altar cloth is usually green, the color of life and serve as a reminder that we need to be al-ways growing in Faith, Hope and Love.

Welcome: We would like to congratulate Jason Miller (wife Frankie) and Kyliee Dearing who were received into full communion with the Catholic Church last Sunday. They celebrated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Com-munion.

Your Last Will & Testament Please consider leaving a gift to our parish or ceme-

tery from your estate and leave a lasting legacy.

Bored Meeting: After a long, dry sermon, the pas-

tor announced that he wished to meet with the

church board following the close of the service.

The first man to arrive and greet the minister was a

total stranger. “You misunderstood,” the priest

said. “This is a meeting of board members.” “I

know,” said the man, “but if there is anyone here

more bored than I am, I’d like to meet him.”

Mass June 9-14 Tuesday 5:00 pm †Peggy & Sue Sims Sunday 9:00 am †Neiman & Merle Fitzhugh

Mass Intentions: Mass intentions will resume beginning this week. The intentions from previ-ous dates will be placed on available Masses.

Most Holy Trinity: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son…” JOHN 3:16. Is your love conditional? Are you generous with your time, skills, money and possessions? God de-sires a personal relationship with us so much that He gave us His Son, unconditionally! Pray for a grateful and generous heart.

Your Last Will & Testament Please consider leaving a gift to our parish or ceme-

tery from your estate and leave a lasting legacy.

Mass Intentions: Mass intentions will resume beginning this week. The intentions from previ-ous dates will be placed on available Masses.

The Trinity: We believe that God is THE Trinity

and that the mystery of the Holy Trinity is the

central mystery of the Christian faith and of Chris-

tian life. We profess our believe in the Holy Trini-

ty whenever we make the sign of the cross. We

believe in only one God, revealed to us in three

divine persons.

Trinity In the Bible: The word Trinity does not

appear anywhere in the Bible, however, we believe

this mystery of God can be found throughout the

Bible.

Father: “One God and Father of all, who is over

all and through all and in all”. - Ephesians

Son: “The Word became flesh and made his dwell-

ing among us, and we saw his glory, the glory as of

the Father’s only Son, full of grace and truth”. -

John 1:14

Holy Spirit: “The Advocate, the Holy Spirit that

the Father will send in my name—he will teach

you everything and remind you of all that I told

you.

Baptism: The clearest example of the Trinity in

the Bible is at the end of Matthew’s Gospel where

Jesus tells his disciples to go and baptize in the

name of the Father, and of the Son and of the Holy

Spirit.

Sophia Award: If you would like to nomi-nate anyone from our parish for this award please contact Fr. Tony

Another Deacon Saint June 9 is the Feast of Saint Ephrem (306 – June 9, 373) a Deacon and Doctor of the Church. St. Ephrem was a poet, teacher, orator, and defender of the faith.

Holy Trinity: Eternal Trinity...mystery deep as the

sea, You could give me no greater gift than the gift

of Yourself. For You are a fire ever burning and

never consumed, which itself consumes all the

selfish love that fills my being.... St. Catherine of

Siena

Welcome: We would like to congratulate Ken-dra Chino (husband Jeremiah) and her son, Grif-fin who were received into full communion with the Catholic Church last Wednesday. They cele-brated the Sacraments of Confirmation and Holy Communion.

Wood Carvings from the Holy Land: Last year we had samples of woodcarvings for parishion-ers to purchase, however, they will not be able to come to the parish this year. You can pur-chase religious items at stmichaelolive-wood.com.
