What is Lifelong Faith Formation?

Lifelong faith formation provides opportunities and experiences throughout the entire life span to strength-en our relationship and knowledge of God, Jesus and the Spirit; to enhance our understanding of Scripture, Tradition and doctrines of our faith; and to sustain us in living as disciples of Jesus Christ.

What does restored order of the Sacraments mean? Restored order means returning the three sacraments of Christian initiation to the logical order in which they were designed to be celebrated: first Baptism,

then Confirmation, then Eucharist. What are the benefits of restored order? First, it will highlight that the Eucharist, not Confirmation, is the culmination of Christian initiation. Secondly, with the reception of grace of the Holy Spirit at a younger age, it will give children greater courage and guidance in facing the increasing difficulties of living a Christian life. Finally, it will allow for more opportunities for parents to take their rightful place as the primary educators of faith formation. It places sacrament preparation at an age when children are naturally more open and receptive to participating with their parents.

Children’s Corner

Sometimes a little thing takes no more time than snapping your fingers.

The little things that say

“I Love You” can be done many times during the day.

Sometimes just changing the little things we do

helps build our friendship with God.

Friends need to be in touch

“You are my friends if you do what I command you.

I no longer call you slaves...I have called you friends.” (John 15.14-15 - NAB)

Mark 13:24-32 Conformity with Jesus’ words means that we hear the teachings of Jesus and live them out. We have to live now to create a future for ourselves that we want and that God wants for us. When we live in conformity to the Word, hearing Jesus’ words and living them out, the future holds no fear for us. Rather than fear, we anticipate our future with joyful expectation. On this second-to- last Sunday of the liturgical year, we realize that we have been faced with a choice throughout our journey during this past liturgical year: to be rooted in this world or in the words of Jesus. Our choices do make a difference.

Amen.

Thank you for all the graces and blessings you have bestowed upon us. Our faith and religious heritage. Our food and shelter. Our health. The loves we have for one another. Our family and friends.

Learning the lessons in Gods words and teachings.

Isn’t funny that we all hear the same Sunday Scripture, Readings and Homily, but we all understand it differently.

Would you like to share what you heard in Gods message, and how it affected you? Do you ever feel that the scripture, readings, and homily were written just for you?

Please join us on Monday nights at 6:30 pm in the blue house, to share and reflect on Gods scripture and teachings.

GOD’S WORD

BUT BELIEVE IT WILL CHANGE

Giving Tree & Shoe Box Christmas gift:

It is that time of year again that the Outreach Ministry is setting up the giving tree for those in need from

Catholic Charities as well as the Pine Haven Boys Home. This year we will be adding the Shoe Box Christmas gift to our Advent season tradition of giving. This is a special project in which Fr. de Laire would like to extend our love of giving to the children of the Dominican Republic that are in need. How it works: You will find shoe boxes under a Christmas tree in front of the Statue of St. Joseph where the Baptismal font usually is located. Each box will have a list of suggested items to fill the shoe box with for the children. It is a long list, you do not need to fill it with all the items, choose what you would like to fill the box with and if you’d like to add a note or card you can as well. The boxes are non-age specific and gender neutral. Boxes are asked to be returned unwrapped (you can tie a bow to it if you’d like but it is not necessary to do so) under the tree by 12-16-18, so that they can be transported to the Dominican destination. The giving trees will still be located at each entrance of the Church as usual and the ornaments will note on the back if they should be wrapped or not. We ask that all gifts be returned by 12-16-18, in front of the Blessed Virgin Mary’s statue this year as the Shoe boxes will be in front of St. Joseph. Our giving tree and shoe box Christmas gift project will begin the first weekend of Advent on December 1&2. We hope all will find joy in the gift of giving this Advent Season! If there are any questions on these Advent missions, please call Linda Gagne at 674-0215
