When ford in the US identified a potential 18-40 yr driving audience of 70 million citizens – 77% of whom

claim to use social media instead of the traditional ,they opted for a social media campaign

to promote the new fiesta. They placed 100 fiestas in the hands of “social

agents” (influencers) who were then given a task every month for 6 months.

Results: 4million+ youtube views, 500,000 Flicker views & 3million twitter impressions.

Client said “overall awareness is equal to or greater than some of our products that have been on the

market for years”.

3. New Location Based Social media Service

This winter, skiers and snowboarders will be hitting the slopes in a whole new way. Rather than just flying through

moguls or sailing off half-pipes, mountain-goers might soon be "checking in”. the service acts as a cross

between Nike+ and Gowalla, and enables users to check-in on the slopes through Facebook Places to earn pins and

rewards for various skiing accomplishments, view the

location of friends and family on the mountain, and track ski routes and vertical feet traveled.

4.Enterprising Dairy Farmer taking his cues from oil giants

In a fine example of thinking outside the box in finding new distribution channels, a german dairy farmer, Bruno Stauf, has

come up with a novel solution -  a 24 hour milk vending machine.

Named “Milchtankstelle”,  the self-serve filling station eliminates the need for a distributor or retailer to market and sell the milk, creating a return on every litre sold that is larger by nearly 50

cents, while delivering a better (fresher) product.

Customers simply bring their own containers or purchase bottles directly from the machine, select an amount and insert the

corresponding amount to begin dispensing the milk.

5. Dynamic Billboards

Engadget points us to an interesting concept by Research In Motion for a dynamic billboard that can change its message

based on fluctuating traffic conditions. The company recently filed two patent applications for the system, which would use sensors to detect when traffic was building up, and present a

more content-rich ad.

When vehicles are passing quickly, standard only information such as the exit number and name of a gas station or

restaurant would be displayed.
