Transcript of 06.07.15 Bulletin | First Presbyterian Church of Orlando

  • Cover our church with prayer for General Assembly! Meet Monday, June 15 at 5:30pm (right before the Companys Comin Volunteer Rally), on the steps outside the Sanctuary entrance. Walk our campus with the Prayer Team and seek Gods presence as we prepare for the exciting week of General Assembly. See you there!

    NEXT STEP

Serve on Sunday morning on our Baptism Team: use your gift of hospitality to host our baptism families during worship and help them prepare for this special day. Serve just prior to your regular worship service and be part of this important ministry. Contact Pam McComb to learn more at [email protected].

Thank you for coming to First Presbyterian Church of Orlando this morning! So glad youre here. We worship together as a church family in four services on Sundays: Traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11am, and Genesis worship in Lee Fellowship Hall at 9:45 and 11am. If youd like to connect and learn more about this church, visit our Legacy Room adjacent to the Sanctuary, or you can visit fpco.org/guest.

Part of growing as followers of Jesus is by practicing daily and weekly spiritual disciplines. Today is a great day to learn more about those disciplines and put them into practice. Join Rev. Jack Peebles this morning at 9:45am in Room 310 of the Edington Ministry center for his special summer School of Discipleship course, Means of Grace. If you miss it this morning, you can join in next week - every Sunday is a stand-alone lesson on a different spiritual discipline. fpco.org/smart.

  • Over these next several weeks well be walking our way through the worship service, looking at each aspect of what we do and looking at the reasons we do what we do. Youll notice that most weeks begin with a video announcement which highlights important information we want all of us to be aware of. It is also placed at the very beginning so that focus in worship may be maintained as we move through the hour. A natural continuity of thought is important. We begin planning the final details of each service about three weeks before the actual service in order to coordinate all the material we have gathered. The Ministry Focus, baptisms, and choir anthems are planned months in advance. The sermons are planned up to a year in advance. We have been amazed again and again at the timeliness and working of the Holy Spirit in a service that was planned so far in advance. The Lord truly does answer our prayers as we pray and as we plan. With the psalmist we say, Great is the Lord, and most worthy of praise. - Dr. Dan Sharp
