parking at first presPart of making our church a welcoming place for guests

is to make our campus as accessible as possible.

The good news is, the church shares ownership in a parkinggarage across the street, and helps to maintain it so you can

easily find free parking every Sunday and during the week.

We leave street and on-campus parking for visitors, seniors

and those who need extra accessibility to the buildings.

If you are a church member and would like to purchasea parking card for the church garage for $10, please stop

by the lobby desk at Edington Ministry Center during

    the week.

RADIIONOne of the marks of a solid hymn or song of worship

is the theology that is sung. Sometimes there are

catchy tunes we might like, but what we are singing

is either banal or downright bad theology. It has beensaid that people learn much of their theology from

the songs of worship. Sometimes we just sing without

thinking all that much about what we are singing. The

opening hymn, Come, Thou Almighty King, has a very

solid text. The rst verse addresses God the Father.

The second stanza directs our attention to Jesus, theIncarnate Word of God. The latter part of the strophe

(a structural division containing stanzas of varying

line-length) prays for the Holy Spirit to descend upon

us. The third verse stays with the theme of the Holy

Spirit asking for Him to rule in our lives in power (in

worship this morning). The nal verse is Trinitarian

(Father, Son & Holy Spirit) in that it pulls the previous

three verses together addressing God as One as we look

forward to being in Gods presence for all eternity...

and all this in just the opening hymn! Every seven days

we come together as Gods people to be reminded of

and rehearse Gods story and plan for His people and

His creation. It is the way He designed for us to be

grounded in faith so that we do not play the fool.

The gospel restores us as image-bearers of God,

and we are called to represent Him in all areas of

life. When this story is forgotten, we create a false

sacred/secular divide between our faith and the

rest of our life. Come join the discussion, led by

    Michael Kelley and Jonathan Thigpen.
