Youll notice at the beginning of worship today, and every Sunday during
the opening hymn, the Bible is brought down the center aisle. It is not
carried down by someones side, but rather is lifted high. This position of the
Scriptures is to reflect visually the revered position Gods Word has in ourworship. It occupies the central position on the communion table. We read
many words during the week (including these!), but the Bible is different.
When our preaching pastor holds the Bible high after reading Scripture, we
are again saying, This book is like no other. It contains Gods words to us.
No wonder our response is Thanks be to God. When Moses went to the
burning bush, God said to him, Take off your shoes, you are on holy ground.
When we stand for Scripture reading, were reminded where we are and
Whose words we are hearing. Make no mistake, we are on holy ground.- Dr. Dan Sharp

*Passing of the PeaceSt. Paul always greeted with the words, The peace of God be with you. This
is an appropriate way to greet fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, and so we
say, The peace of the Lord be with you and respond, And also with you. We
then pass this greeting of peace to one another. At the passing of the peace we
should earnestly desire Gods peace upon each person we greet.
