Thank you for coming to First Presbyterian Church of Orlando this morning! So glad you’re here. We worship together as a church family in four services on Sundays: Traditional worship in the Sanctuary at 8:30 and 11am, and Genesis worship in Lee Fellowship Hall at 9:45 and 11am. If you’d like to connect and learn more about this church, visit our Legacy Room adjacent to the Sanctuary, or you can visit fpco.org/guest.
Pastors, missionaries and lay leaders from around the world will be visiting our church this June for the General Assembly of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church. We want to create a warm welcome and help this special group be encouraged in their ministry. Can you volunteer for 4 hours during the week of June 23-27? Pick your ideal spot at fpco.org/ga or visit the table under the Angel Wing this morning (between the Sanctuary and Allen Hall). Please register by May 10!
Our church will dedicate a new work of art on our campus on Wednesday, May 20 at 10:00am. Homeless Jesus by Timothy Schmalz, will be dedicated and placed on our sidewalk on Jackson Avenue. To learn more about this unique bronze statue, visit fpco.org/homelessjesus.

The anthem this morning was composed by Stephen Paulus in 1997 as the closing piece to his short opera, The Three Hermits, based on a short story by Leo Tolstoy, performed in the House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul, Minnesota. It has textual roots and musical influence from the Russian Orthodox tradition. It is written in eight parts with a more chant like, full chordal setting. Paulus died of complications from a stroke in 2014, on the very day this piece was being performed on the weekly broadcast by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. It has been performed by over a thousand choirs around the world. It has been frequently heard at funerals including those of Presidents Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. Its textual roots are found in an evening hymn from the Orthodox liturgy. It is a song of complete devotion to and wonder surrounding our Savior. The Orthodox liturgy is known for awe and reverence in the music as well as full rich harmonies. The song leads one to kneel before our glorious Christ. - Dr. Dan Sharp

Confirmation is an important process in our church, where children and students confirm an already existing faith as followers of Jesus. Students learn essential doctrine and the basics of reformed faith, giving them language to articulate what they believe. We have two unique confirmation courses here - one for youth and one for children. Those students join us this morning to affirm their faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord and join the church at the 11:00am Traditional Worship service in the Sanctuary. Please welcome them as they join the church this morning!
