It's just a phone call – but is it more
than that? During these times of not
being able to be together we have
a team of Senior Ministry making
phone calls to our senior members
to see if they need food or anything
else. We then expanded the calls to
others than seniors. Just a touch
from a familiar, friendly voice from
the Church family tells our family
that they are being thought of.
We invite all of you to keep in touch
with someone from the family with
“just a phone call."
Primetimers
When we are again able to be toge-
ther the Primetimers are hoping to
be able to plan a trip to the Autry
Museum in June or July. We'll keep
you posted of those plans.

May Lesson Plan The resurrection of Jesus was not the end of the mission, but the beginning. This month, we learn how the Holy Spirit helped Christians do their ministry in the world.
3 - Peter and John (Acts 4:1-22) 10 - Peter in prison (Acts 12:1-17) 17 - Paul is changed (Acts 9:1-19) 24 - Paul escapes (Acts 9:20-25) 31 - Pentecost (Acts 2:1-41)
Bible Verse of the Month The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.
- Proverbs 9:10
Support NUMC Mission Projects during COVID-19
North Valley Caring Services (NVCS):
Outreach at North Valley Caring Services has exploded in the last 6 weeks due to the effects of COVID-19. The Friday food distribution, which already served more than 400 families, is now a drive-thru serving more than 2100 last week. The meal service to the families living in Motels along Sepulveda Blvd fed more than 900 families. This is a tremendous time of need in our community and we are proud to be able to step up to the challenge with your support. Volunteers and donations still needed - if you would like to help you can contact the NVCS office at (818) 891-0481. Thank-you!
Reseda First UMC Food Pantry:
Canned goods, bread and fruit are given without cost to people who arrive at Reseda First UMC on Wednesdays from 11 AM - 1 PM. Volunteers wear a mask and gloves and recipients stay in their cars. Last Wednesday, there were 50 cars representing about 200 people. Ordinarily, NUMC collects food all year. Reseda still needs food and money to buy more food - especially beans and rice. Drop off donations at 18120 Saticoy St in Reseda during pantry hours.
San Fernando Valley Rescue Mission (SFVRM):
Thanks to Lulu for having dinners delivered in April and May. NUMC delivered large stuffed Easter rabbits before Easter Sunday. The SFVRM Shelter Needs list is available from Lulu Emery or Mike Easterly. Drop offs are accepted at the mission’s front gate (8756 Canby Ave., Northridge) Monday through Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM. Please use the intercom button for assistance, or if you prefer no-person-contact, leave items at gate and notify reception through the intercom before leaving. Items accepted: needs list items, hygiene products, hand sanitizer, sanitation wipes, frozen meals.
SFVRM now has a Pop-Up Drive-Thru Pantry for community members at Northridge Fashion Center - Dave and Busters parking area. They are handing out 15-pound grocery bags full of food staples to those in need. Sign-up to get groceries at https://form.jotform.com/200846234537051

April Giving is expected to be down by 25% due to the impact of the COIVD-19 situation – no cash in the offering plate, adjusting to mail and E-Giving options, and concerns about personal finances. Facility Use income is expected to be down by 80%.
April Expenses are expected to be continue with minimal reductions in utilities and administrative expenses. The church staff continues to work. The buildings and grounds continue to be remained. Most of the ministry functions have moved to virtual delivery platforms.
While we understand that personal finances of some individuals and families may be severely impacted, we hope that others may be able to give more to help us get through the remainder of 2020. Thanks to everyone for continued generosity.
