Bible Story: Naomi and Ruth (Ruth 1-4)

GAME PREPARATION – “Clean It And Mean It” Materials needed for 1 stage: (*Asterisk & bold = duplicate for additional services) ! 2 Trash Bags ! 50 Pieces of Trash ! 2 Claws ! 2 Prizes* (1 large, 1 small) Prepare ahead of time: ! Place clean trash around stage before acting starts. Stage setup: ! None How to play: ! Contestant will have the claw to pick up pieces of trash from the stage and place the trash in the bag that their partner is holding. ! The team with the most trash in their bag after 45 seconds is the winner! Notes for Game Director: ! Pick 4 contestants (2 on each team). When the contestants come up onto stage, allow kids to introduce themselves. Make sure they know how to play the game, and then allow the game to start. Tie-in teaching point: ! In our Bible Story today, Ruth showed love to Naomi by putting Naomi’s needs above her own. Our game contestants showed us what it looks like to love someone selflessly by cleaning up the trash in the park! God loves us in this same way, and we can love others the way God loves us! I Should Love Others The Way God Loves Me! Skit Characters: Sarah, Addie and mom - mom is a character on the cell phone (she can only be heard and not seen) Props Needed: Sodas, snacks and a bench

HOST/WORSHIP LEADER: Welcome back to Beginagin Theme Park! Before we get started today I want to welcome everyone and also remind you that we are going to have a great time today but we also have just a few rules that we need to review.Rule #1 – Respect yourself and others. / Rule #2 Listen and obey/ Rule #3 Be Kind/ Rule #4 Respect our property. When we all follow these simple rules everyone will have a great time! Now, I would like to know if you would rather ride a super-fast roller coaster or ride a nice, fun ferris wheel? On the count of three tell me, which you like better. (Count down and let children answer) Wow! They both are super fun to ride, but I would rather ride say which one you like. Throughout this new series, we are going to be learning about eight truths from the Bible that will take our relationships with God to a new level...off the rails!!! We have some awesome songs in this series, so let’s start today off right and sing our first song! The name of this song is “Holy Is Your Name.” Why don’t you STAND UP and come down front so we can practice together? Here’s how the chorus goes: (Teach motions below) During the first part, we are going sway our arms over head (demonstrate while saying this) and then we are going to spin, while alternating fist when we say, “Higher.” Then, we’re going to do this: INVITE them to stand up with you! WEEK #3 NEED TO KNOW WITH TEACHING MUSIC I Should Love Others, The Way God Loves Me! You guys stay seated and repeat that after me. Optional Motions: (1st-3rd Grade Only) I Should (point to self) Love Others (crossarms across chest) The Way God (point up) Loves Me (point to self)! HOST/WORSHIP LEADER: Awesome job! If you’re ready to see all the fun at Beginagin Theme Park, let me hear you scream like you’re on a roller coaster! AAAHHHH!!! Woah! Well then let’s not waste any more time! Let’s head into the park. Let’s count it down! Ready? 3...2...1...ACTION!!! Host/Worship Leaders exit. OFF THE RAILS OPENER Sarah and Addie are walking with snacks and drinks in hand. Sarah: Beginigin Park is amazing! It’s so much more fun than the last time mom and dad brought us. Addie: For sure! Last time we were too little to ride all the really awesome rides like Soak ‘Em Spray ‘Em Falls and Lightning Mountain. Sarah: Did you see that dad after we got off of the Whirly Cups? Addie: Yep, it was like he was performing a magic act. One minute he was walking with his family, and the next minute, bam! He fell and disappeared behind the bushes because he was so dizzy.

Sarah: I felt kind of bad giggling at him, but his own family was literally on the floor laughing and pointing at him. Addie: I know. Poor guy must have been so embarrassed. Sarah: (Pointing at the bench) Addie, let’s grab a seat for little bit. My feet are killing me. Addie: Definitely. My feet feel like they have their own heartbeat they’re throbbing so badly. I wish the lines weren’t so long, but I guess that’s the price you pay for being able to ride all these awesome rides. Which ride do you think we should hit next? It’s getting kinda late, so it’ll probably be our last one. Sarah: I figured we would hit the best ride last, Fire Breathing Fighters. It’s supposed to look even more amazing at night. The track and the coaster light up which makes it seem like you’re going even faster. Let me check my Beginigin Park App to see how long the wait time is. Addie: Good idea. Then you can call mom and dad to let them know when where to meet us. Sarah: We better get going. The app says there’s currently a 75 minute wait. Addie: Bummer… Call mom while we walk. The girls get up and throw their snacks away. Sarah calls mom. Mom: Hi, Sarah. How are you and your sister doing? Sarah: We are having a blast, mom. Thanks so much for bringing us. Mom: Glad to hear you’re having so much fun. Sarah: We’re heading to Fire Breathing Fighters now, but it has a really long line. It’s our last ride, and my app says it has a 75 minute wait. Mom: That’s ok, sweetheart. Your little brother seems to be pretty worn out and tired already. We may stop off for a little snack on the way to meet up with you girls. Sarah: Mark is tired? That doesn’t sound like our little brother. Mom: I know. He does seem a little out of sorts. It’s not like him to want to be carried and your dad is carrying him now. Sarah: Yeah, usually you have to hold his hand the whole time so he doesn’t take off running like a little maniac.

Mom: Well, you girls have fun. We will be waiting for you at the exit to the ride. Sarah: Ok, love you, mom. See you there. Mom: Love you both, too. Both girls exit stage Week #3 Bible Story and Game Instruction HOST/GAME DIRECTOR: Ok are you guys ready to play this game? Let’s all count it down together from 3 and say “CLEAN IT”. Kids, help me count...3, 2, 1, CLEAN IT!! OFF THE RAILS WEEK #3 45 Second Counter With Action Music Game Director facilitates game. Game Time With Game Music OFF THE RAILS OPENER Addie: Can you believe we are almost to the front of the line? I’m so nervous I think my heart may pop out of my chest. Sarah: My stomach is all in knots. I can’t wait to ride this coaster and tell everyone at school how cool it was. Addie: I know, right. Me too! A bunch of my friends have been telling me how freakishly fun and scary the ride is all at once. It’s going to be super cool. The phone rings. Sarah: Hi mom, we should be the next ones on the ride. Thanks again for being so patient. I’m sure Mark is driving you and dad bonkers by now. What’s up? Mom: Actually, your little brother has a fever, and I’m pretty sure it’s a stomach bug. It’s ugly out here. I had to go buy your dad a new shirt – if you get my drift. We need to leave the park, now. Sarah: (Without hesitation) Poor Mark and poor dad – yuck! We will be right there, mom. Addie: We will be right there?! Have you lost your marbles?! Have you suddenly forgotten where we are?! Sarah: Mark is really sick, so we have to go, now. I’m sorry.

Addie: But, we are next! Mark can wait 5 minutes. Besides, why should we do something nice for him when all he does is drive us crazy? Sarah: Yes, he is always a pest, but I love him anyway. Addie: I don’t understand you. Sarah: God loves me all the time even though I am a sinner. God wants me to love other people, even our pain in the butt kid brother, the same way God loves us. Leaving this silly ride right away is what I am going to do because I love my brother the way God loves me. Addie: No, it’s what we are going to do because we both love our brother the way God loves us. I’m sorry for not seeing that sooner. Sarah: That’s ok. Sometimes our first reactions aren’t our best reactions. Addie: God always loves me. He’s never too busy or too excited to ignore me. I know I should love all others, even pain in the neck Mark, in the same way God loves me. Let’s go. Sarah: The ride will be waiting here for us the next time we come back. Addie: Next time, we ride this one first. Sarah: Deal! The girls run off stage. Host/Worship Leader takes stage HOST/WORSHIP/WRAP UP Worship Leader(s) enter. HOST/WORSHIP LEADER:

• Do you think you would have made the same decision as Sarah, the sister who wanted to leave right away, or would you have been upset like the other sister, Addie? (Be honest)

• How would it have made their parents and little brother, Mark, feel if they

had made them all wait the extra five minutes?

• Do you think it was an easy or hard decision for the sisters to leave the ride right away to go with their brother?

• It is not always easy to love others the way God loves us. Sometimes you will not do a good job loving someone else like God loves you, but you have to keep trying.

• I should love others, the way God loves me! And that’s what we need to know today! You guys say this after me in your silliest voices...
