Germantown Police are investigat-ing an incident in which an individualis alleged to have displayed a semi-automatic weapon following an auto-mobile accident.

According to a statement fromGermantown Police, an emergencycall was received at 10:52 a.m. July 6regarding a two-vehicle accident atthe intersection of Fond du LacAvenue and Division Road. The twovehicles involved were a black cargovan and a white minivan.Information from police indicates thattwo southbound vehicles – a greencompact car and a white Ford pickuptruck – returned to the crash scene, with the drivers of those vehicles

attempting to help move the driver of

the minivan out of that vehicle. A wit-ness to the crash attempted to stop thetwo individual’s helping remove theminivan driver from that vehicle, fear-ing potential injuries that may occur.

"At that point, one of the subjectsdisplayed a black semiautomatichandgun and told the witness not tointerfere. The subjects then helped thedriver from the vehicle," theGermantown police news release stat-ed.

The driver of the minivan thenentered the passenger side of theFord pickup truck. Those individualsthen abandoned that vehicle at Fonddu Lac Avenue and Pilgrim Road andgot into the green compact vehicle

and drove south on Pilgrim Road. A

Germantown officer initiated a pursuitwhich was continued by MequonPolice when the chase entered thatcity. The chase was discontinued dueto speeds and nearby residentialareas.

According to information from vil-lage of Jackson police, shortly afterthe Germantown crash Jackson policereceived a report of a compoundbow-and-arrow which had beenremoved from an open garage.

Jackson pol ice al so received a reportof a green 2002 Cavalier that hadbeen stolen from a business parkinglot. A compound bow-and-arrow waslater recovered from the pickup truck.

Freight shipments are only for big businesses, right? WRONG! A freight shipmentdoesn’t have to mean a whole semi trailer of parts. A freight shipment can beanything that is too big to ship through UPS, such as large artwork, motorizedvehicles, heirloom family furniture, or anything that needs to be palletized. At TheUPS Store, we can help find the best service option to fit your shipping needs, schedule and budget. Like we can do for small packages, we can comparisonshop your large shipments to get you the best price! Did you know freight canalso be a cost effective solution if you have a large quantity of packages all goingto the same place, like a family member moving out of state? You don’t have topay to ship each box individually. Palletize the boxes as one secure shipment andsave. Need a custom crate for shipping? We can handle that too!

The Germantown Village Boardapproved a conditional use permit July 6 thatwill allow the Germantown Diamond Club tooperate an indoor youth baseball facility atan existing industrial building at W172N130560 Division Road.

According to information from villagestaff, the 9,700 square foot building is one ofseven on the 7.31 acre property and hasbeen vacant for several years The space pre-viously was occupied by Share BuildingProducts, Inc. which is now located in Jackson.

The proposal from the GermantownDiamond Club calls for baseball hitting andthrowing areas blocked off with mesh netting. The facility would be available for use byclub members at all times of the day andyear. Organized team activities wouldinclude 10 to 12 players and two to fourcoaches at a time. There would be no spec-tator seating at the facility.

Village Director of Planning and Zoning Jeff Retzlaff said that Diamond Club repre-

sentatives stated at a Plan Commission meet-ing that training activities would typicallyoccur during late afternoon hours to lateevening hours, and during the day duringsummer.

Retzlaff said the change in use will

require improvements to the building, incluld-ing enhancements to the fire wall and sepa-rate restroom facilities for men and women,a new service sink and emergency exit.Portable fire extinguishers would also have tobe installed. Ret

No one spoke on the proposal during apublic hearing on the request, and the boardapproved a conditional use permit a shorttime later.

In another matter, the board approved arequest from Enviro-Safe Resources to amendits conditional use permit to allow non-haz-ardous solid waste processing at its facility atW130 N10500 Washington Drive. Retzlaffnoted that the state Department of NaturalResources (DNR) has already granted condi-tional approval of a solid waste processingfacility license that would replace the solidwaste transfer facility license. He said the per-mit will allow more than 50 tons of solidwaste to be processed from the facility asopposed to the existing limit of less than 50tons.

According to information from Enviro-Safe provided to the village, with the changeapproximately 1,200 tons of solid wastewould be processed inside the existing build-ing.
