Kyseth placed second in the woman'scombined recumbent cycle race, third in thewomen's 50 freestyle and second in the100 meter freestyle reach

In the pool I dis-covered that I am not a sprinter but was

By Ann Bare"Oh dear," you think to yourself. "My
sister gets cranky so easily. My bestfriend, although I love her dearly, isunpredictable and undependable. I have
some friends from school, but we rarelytalk and really only keep in touch throughFacebook. My coworkers are becomingfriendlier, but we are not what I wouldcall friends yet. I'm getting married in sixmonths and I want to have a stress-freewedding. Whom do I choose to be in mywedding party?"
It's not always possible to select the"perfect" attendants. Personalities, tradi-tions, expectations and cultural morescan influence a bride's choice of hermaid or matron of honor and her brides-maids. There are those who expect to beasked to be in your wedding; after all,you were in theirs. Your sisters and closestcousins would be natural choices-espe-
cially to Mom and sweet Auntie. Yourbest friend and you pinky-swore yearsago that you would be at each other'sside, but now her life decisions are notmaking her a suitable choice. The hard-to-decide task just got more difficult.
So whose wedding is it anyway? Youwant to look back on this day and havepleasant memories so make your deci-sions accordingly. What do you want toremember? Pasted smiles on an array ofsize 3 gals and tuxedoed handsome menflanking a radiant couple? The hope ofhaving your wedding photo featured inthe hometown paper's next bridal insert?Beautifully coiffed hairstyles and tinyankles beneath tea-length dresses? What
will really make your day happily memo-rable?

POLICE BLOTTER
BY THOMAS J. MCKILLENMANAGING EDITOR
The Germantown Village Board delayedction on purchasing new record manage-ent software for the Fire Department June7 until it gets more information from staff.
At the start of discussion Capt. Mattarpinski explained that the departmentiginally requested $31,000 to update itsrrent Firehouse software, which included
urchasing a patch between the Fireepartment and Police Department soft-are. While looking into the matter, theolice Department contacted Fireepartment staff and informed them thatoPhoenix the software used by the Policeepartment had made significant changesits fire record management software and
sked that fire staff look at the revampedftware.
Karpinski said changes to the ProPhoenixftware for Fire Department record man-
gement are drastic and show that theompany became committed to fire depart-ent record management. As a result, there Department recommended that the vil-
ge go with the ProPhoenix option becausethe benefits of having one software systeme used by the Fire and Police Departments.
The ProPhoenix system will cost approxi-ately $76,496 while the village willceive a $17,350 discount for a final price
$59,146. Annual support and mainte-ance will cost $7,924.70, according toformation provided to the village byoPhoenix. Karpinski explained the differ-
nce is between adding on to current soft-are and going to a completely new system.
Yes, this is a significant increase but theenefits we believe outweigh the cost, arpinski said.
When asked, Village Administratoravid Schornack said there isnt any moneythe budget for the request and we would
ave to do some looking around.
Schornack said the benefit would beaving the same software, which wouldlow for better communication between there and Police Department systems.
Karpinski said theres $63,000 in theapital budget for upgrading heart monitors, hich the Fire Department decided to delayyear. Karpinski later confirmed that it will
ost more than $63,000 to replace the heartonitors if done later.
When asked by Trustee Jeff Werdermanbout the downside of doing nothing, arpinski said the Fire Department cantare information with the Police Department
ecause of the different software, and abridge is required. In addition, the elec-onic patient care recorded software is nonger supported, and that it is now just
being sustained.Trustee Terri Kaminski said if the village
doesnt have the funds now, the villageshould make the item a capital item for thenext budget year.
Kaminski said she had too many ques-tions about the request and wanted moreinformation. Kaminski requested a range ofcosts for items.
I feel like Im in the middle of a shellgame here tonight where everything weapproved before in some of these little shellsand they are all being shifted around and itsmaking me a little bit disappointed, a little bitanxious because why did we go through thatbudget process painfully for fourmonths, Kaminski said.
Kaminski said she wanted informationfrom the Police Department and informationtechnology staff about the request.
Trustee Art Zabel first made a motion to
go ahead with the new software and thenhave village staff come back to the board toexplain how the budget would be adjustedto pay for them item.
Werderman said Police Department staffshould explain the benefit of both depart-ments having the same software.
I think if we do it now we can realizesome savings. I think it has to be done, whether its now or six months I guess thatsup for each of us to decide, Werdermansaid.

The Germantown Village Board rejecteda request from the Fire Department to pur-chase a SmartBoard June 17.
The board would have been purchasedthrough using $8,000 originally budgetedfor a forcible entry trainer and $1,052would have been covered by Act 102 funds.
