June 9, 2013 10th Sunday in Ordinary Time

ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME

Silent Prayer

God, let my faith be full and unreserved,

let it be joyful and give peace and gladness to my spirit.

God, let my faith be humble and true.

Prelude

Welcome and Announcements Jack Standring

Welcoming all people. Caring for each other and the world. Sharing the

good News of Jesus Christ! Come join the journey of faith with us!

Please raise your hand to share you joys or concerns to be included in

the prayers of the people this day. You may also write your concern on

Centering Music - “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”

Piano by Matthew Will

(*Please stand for items marked with an asterisk.)

Call to Worship - (Psalm 100) Peter Herzog

Leader: Shout joyfully to the Lord, all the earth.

People: Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with

joyful singing.

Leader: Know that the Lord Himself is God;

it is He who has made us, and not we ourselves:

we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

People: Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with

praise.

Leader: Give thanks to Him; bless His name.

People: For the Lord is good;

His loving kindness is everlasting,

and His faithfulness to all generations.

*Hymn - “Gather Us In” STF #2236

*Prayer of Confession Sami Fulton

All: Forgiving God, we give you thanks for your

unconditional love and ask that you enable us to love

each other unconditionally, too. Forgive us for not

always answering when others ask, “Who do you say

that I am?” Forgive us for ignoring those in our midst

who are different from ourselves in age, race, gender,

sexual orientation, education level, and economic status.

Forgive us for the times we so easily conform to the

language and actions of this world. Forgive us for

taking the easy way out with texts, emails, or Facebook,

instead of confronting each other face to face. Forgive

us, God, and make us whole again. In the name of the

One who came to save us, we pray, Amen

Silence is kept.

*Words of Assurance Kurt Schuehler

Leader: Friends, hear and believe the good news! Anyone who

is in Christ is a new creation; our old lives are gone and

our new lives have already begun. Know that we are

all forgiven and be at peace. Amen.

*Congregational Response - “Sanctuary” STF #2164 (sing twice)

Lord, prepare me to be a sanctuary,

pure and holy, tried and true.

With thanksgiving,

I’ll be a living sanctuary for you.

*Sharing of the Peace Kurt Schuehler

Leader: The peace of Christ be with you.

People: And also with you.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

*CPC Vision Statement Natalie Sperlunto Leader: We seek to become: All: A church that witnesses to the community and the world by sharing and demonstrating our relationship with Christ. A church that encourages all people to know God’s great love revealed in Jesus Christ. A church that faithfully listens for God’s will for our lives and our community. A community of God that is an open, inviting, caring family of faith where all are embraced, accepted and loved. Leader: The Collingswood Presbyterian Church Congregation, as part of the Christian Church, Presbyterian Church USA, is called to Worship and serve the Lord by: All: Constantly seeking renewal through God’s Grace and Wisdom. Welcoming and reaching out to all of God’s community. Providing for education in Christian and Presbyterian principles. Ministering to everyone through community and worldwide mission. Sharing the Christian message as expressed in the Gospel.

Offering Giver of all things, accept these gifts that we return to you, and use them to better your kingdom on earth. Enable us to see your gifts in

each other and ourselves, that we may share your gifts with the world. In the name of Christ, your greatest gift.

Musical Selection - “Oh Lord, Shout for Joy” - Sunday School Children

*Doxology - Hymn PH #592 Praise God, from Whom all blessings flow; Praise Him, all creatures here below; Praise Him above, ye heavenly host; Praise Father, Son, and Holy Ghost.

*Prayer of Dedication Lindsay Ball World Council of Churches

As the earth keeps turning, hurtling through space, and night falls and day breaks from land to land, let us remember people - waking, sleeping, being born and dying - one world, one humanity. Let us go from here in peace.

Prayers of the People Jack Standring Leader: The Lord be with you People: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray. Prayers of Praise, Thanksgiving, and Intercession... All: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

*Hymn - “ Decade of the Child”

tune of “I Sing the Mighty Power of God” PH #288

Help us to show your love, O Christ, to children in our care,

and reach beyond till every child is held in love and prayer,

for, through neglect, abuse and sin, some children suffer pain.

They never learn to live and seek a rainbow through the rain.

When children need a helping hand to lift or to inspire,

may we, your church, be present there to give what they require.

For love, our God has made us all, God’s children everywhere,

to live in joyful harmony, to be the best we dare.

May we learn well what children teach: an open mind and heart,

an energizing zest for life, a willingness to start.

Grant us the grace to be child-like, approaching all our days

with eager, playful, lively joy, in loving, hope-filled praise.

Now we will sing our praise of Christ, born many years ago,

a child who grew both wise and strong, God’s love for us to show,

in stories told to people then, remembered still today,

Christ shows in every deed and word what we should do and say.
