Call to Worship Leader: At this time of worship, we come together to make sense of our lives. People: We look to your word, O God, as a source of understanding. Leader: Revive our souls that our hearts may rejoice in your presence. People: Cleanse and enlighten us with your truth. Leader: Liberate us from self-imposed limitations. People: Let the words of our mouths and the meditations of our hearts be acceptable in your sight, O God, our rock and our redeemer as we worship you. *Hymn “Be Thou My Vision” GTG #450 tune - Slane

Prayer of Confession - (unison) Almighty God, your work is often preformed beyond our perception. Your mercy and grace often exceeds understanding. Your presence is often beyond our comprehension. Because of our limited abilities, we have not always trusted in your love. Forgive us for hiding from you, ignoring your laws, and doubting you. Forgive us for making assumptions about others and about you. Forgive us not always treating our neighbors and our world graciously. Lord, with your grace, make us into new and confident followers. Teach us to practice your example of love, generosity and forgiveness so that we do your work. In Jesus name, we pray, AMEN.

Silence is kept *Assurance of Pardon Leader: When we confess our need for God in our lives, People: We become aware of God’s presence. Leader: When we confess our failures, People: We find God’s forgiveness waiting. (continued on next page)

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

*Affirmation of Faith - Brief Statement of Faith PCUSA

We trust in Jesus Christ, fully human, fully God. Jesus proclaimed the reign of God: preaching good news to the poor and release to the captives, teaching by word and deed and blessing the children, healing the sick and binding up the brokenhearted, eating with outcasts, forgiving sinners, and calling all to repent and believe the gospel.

Unjustly condemned for blasphemy and sedition, Jesus was crucified, suffering the depths of human pain and giving his life for the sins of the world. God raised this Jesus from the dead, vindicating his sinless life, breaking the power of sin and evil, delivering us from death to life eternal.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

Offering - “Our worship is complete when we bring all the resources at our

disposal to receive God’s blessing and fulfill God’s purposes. In joyous gratitude we bring more than money: we bring

ourselves as an offering to God”

Musical Offering - Instrumental *Hymn of Dedication We give thee but Thine own, What’ere the gift may be; All that we have is Thine alone, a trust O Lord from Thee. *Prayer of Dedication Prayer of the People

Leader: The Lord be with you People: And also with you. Leader: Let us pray. Prayers of thanksgiving, intercession, petition, and the Lord’s Prayer.

Page 7: Collingswood Presbyterian Church 01, 2012 · Collingswood Presbyterian Church January 24, 2016 ... as we truly are and ask you to fill us with trust ... Flowers ñ Are given today

All: Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For Thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

Hymn “Open My Eyes, That I May See” GTG #451 tune - Open My Eyes

Nominating Committee

This church is so blessed to have the dedicated and supportive membership that we do! There are many ways we can give, not just financially but also we can give our time and talents toward the future of Collingswood Presbyterian Church. Candace Lowden, Lorrie Heuser, and Martha Jane Caldwell Bates are serving as your Nominating Committee this year, and it is time to prayerfully consider your place in the future of our church. We have places for Deacons and Session members (Elders) starting in early 2016. We are also looking for a member of our Senior High youth to be a Youth Deacon. Please prayerfully consider your role in the future of our church; the direction you’d like to see us go in, the activities and programs you want to see in place, and how we can continue to grow in spirit and fellowship with each other in this service. Any member of the Committee would be happy to answer any questions you may have.
