ASSEMBLE IN GOD’S NAME
Silent Prayer Believing that Jesus is the One who calls us to new life,
trusting that, by his tears, he takes away our pain, we come this morning to worship, to rejoice
and to say thank you. Amen.

Minute for Mission
Centering Music - “Sometimes a Light Surprises” GTG #800 Sometimes a light surprises the child of God who sings; it is the Lord who rises with healing in his wings; when comforts are declining, he grants the soul again a season of clear shining to cheer it after rain.
In holy contemplation we sweetly then pursue
the theme of God’s salvation and find it ever new;
set free from present sorrow, we cheerfully can say,
“Let the unknown tomorrow bring with it what it may.”

Call to Worship Leader: In the buds on the trees eager to burst; in the flowers poking their heads out of the dirt; in the children running in fields People: we see how you love us, God of steadfast love. Leader: In the tears of a worried father over his son's illness; in the weariness of a mother facing a long shift at work; in the laughter of a joke well told, People: we see how you love us, our Resurrection and our Life. Leader: In the touch of a wife on her husband's skin; in the birds which rush into the sky before spiraling down; in the words we are given to offer to the empty-hearted: People: we see how you love us, Breath of our souls.
*Hymn - “I Love Thy Kingdom, Lord” GTG #310
*Prayer of Confession Leader: We are set free by your saving grace, Generous God, yet we must confess how we are still bound by our pride and arrogance. We seem unable to throw of the grave clothes of our habitual sin. We cling to our fears, for they are so familiar and comfortable. ALL: Yet, there in every corner of our lives, in every shadow we fear, into the cold embrace of death itself, you come, Steadfast Love. You break the bonds of sin and death, calling us to new life through the love and sacrifice of your Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
Silence is kept
*Assurance of Pardon
Leader: You can put your hope in God, dear friends, for God
offers us that love which never fades, that life which never
ends.
People: We wait for God, and God does not fail us. God's hope,
God's love, and God's grace are forever. Thanks be to
God. Amen.
*Congregational Response “Dying You Destroyed Our Death” GTG #567
Choir director: Dying you destroyed our death.
Congregation: Dying you destroyed our death.
Choir director: Rising you restored our life.
Congregation: Rising you restored our life.
Choir director: Lord Jesus, come in glory.
Congregation: Lord Jesus, come in glory.
*Sharing of the Peace
Leader: The peace of Christ be with you.
People: And also with you.

Psalm 130 (responsive) Leader: Out of the depths I cry to you, O Lord. People: Lord, hear my voice! Let your ears be attentive to the voice of my supplications! Leader: If you, O Lord, should mark iniquities, Lord, who could stand? People: But there is forgiveness with you, so that you may be revered. Leader: I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in his word I hope; People: my soul waits for the Lord more than those who watch for the morning, more than those who watch for the morning.
(continues on next page)
Leader: O Israel, hope in the Lord! For with the Lord there is steadfast love, and with him is great power to redeem. People: It is he who will redeem Israel from all its iniquities.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD
*Affirmation of Faith - The Nicene Creed
We believe in one God, the Father, the Almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, eternally begotten of the Father, God from God, Light from Light, begotten, not made, of one Being with the Father; through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation, he came down from heaven, was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became truly human. For our sake, he was crucified under Pontius Pilate; he suffered death and was buried. On the third day, he rose again in accordance with the Scriptures; he ascended into heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead, and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life, who proceeds from the Father and the Son, who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified, who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one, holy, catholic, and apostolic Church. We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins. We look for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Offering
Bring life, O God, to the program and mission of this church,
which we support through our tithes and offerings. May our
giving bring life and hope in many “valleys of dry bones.” As
Christ sacrificed life for us, so may each of us commit ourselves
to carrying forward the work to which we are called in our own
day. Bless us and all the gifts we bring, in Jesus’ name, Amen.

Go Forward and Serve!
Be a part of God’s work through CPC!
Please join us in the lounge for coffee and fellowship time.
In deepest night, in darkest days, when harps are hung,
no songs we raise, when silence must suffice as praise,
yet sounding in us quietly there is the song of God.
When friend was lost, when love deceived, dear Jesus wept,
God was bereaved; so with us in our grief God grieves,
and round about us mournfully there are the tears of God.
When through the waters winds our path, around us pain,
around us death, deep calls to deep, a saving breath,
and found beside us faithfully there is the love of God.

Welcome!
Last week in Sunday School we talked about how Jesus teaches us by his example when he washed the disciples feet. This week we will be talking about how Jesus comforts the disciples.
We are continuing with a weekly note for families of children and youth who use the Gather ’Round curriculum. Each Sunday you will find faith nurture ideas that coordinate with the weekly session plans for your child’s group.
Gather ’Round Session 6 - TALKABOUT John 14:1–17; Jesus comforts the disciples Talk about the Bible story children and youth explored this week. Here are some ways to nurture faith at home based on this week’s story. (1) Read John 14:6–7. If we know Jesus, whom will we also know? (2) When has your heart been troubled? What has helped you? (3) Sometimes people call some foods “comfort foods.” Do you have a favorite food that makes you feel warm and comforted?
Do you know? Sophia, another name for the Holy Spirit, is a popular girl’s name. What does it mean? (Wisdom.)
Prayer for the week: Holy Spirit, help me remember that you are al-ways with me.
Please ask the children what they learned. You may pick your children up in Calvin Hall after service. They will have a take home sheet that will explain some of what we talked about. There is also a Spring Sup-plemental Activities Calendar on the table in the Narthex. There are many topics to talk about and activities to do.
Please see Gretchen Kolecki, Director of Christian Education to sign
up to teach/help with the Sunday School Program. There is also a
sign-up sheet outside the Director of Christian Ed.’s door. Dates
available are: 4/13, 4/27, 5/4, 5/11, 5/18.

How Can I Make A Difference?
Here are some mission opportunities that you to help with!
The Interfaith Hospitality Outreach Council has served homeless men for over 20 years. The need is enormous for housing, job counseling and support for homeless men to get back on their feet
We will host homeless guests in our church April 20-May 4, 2014. We have helped the Baptist church in the past with their hosting weeks. We will be supported by other congregations in Collingswood but will need your help for overnight hosts at the church and dinner preparation. Contact Martha Jane to sign up at [email protected] or 856-858-6419.
Go online www.FMSC.org/Haddonfield to
sign up for a time for you and your family to help pack meals. If you would like to pack with Pastor Kate, sign up for 3:30-5:30 pm.
The greatest need at this time is for breakfast cereal, but we are also collecting canned tuna or meat and jelly. Any items you care to donate are greatly ap-preciated. In these difficult economic times, there is a large number of clients. Donations can be put on the table in the back of the sanctuary.
Special Thanks!
We collected enough items to pack 20 Shoebox Hygiene Boxes for
IHOC. Thank you!
Don your favorite baseball cap and join us on
April 12th from 7– 9 pm
for specialty coffees & tea, peanuts, popcorn &
cracker jacks…live music…poetry reading…and
