Messner, Ray Meyer, Chuck Monaghan, Rev. John Mueller, Michael Murphy, Harry & Dolores Niemczyk, Ann Rittman, Eileen Shreve, Norene Tokar, Amanda & Brittany Vanvleet, Christel White, Hunter Withrow. (Names are on our prayer list for one month. To carry a name longer, please contact the Parish Office.)

Dear Parishioners: FIRST OFF, PLEASE TAKE NOTE THAT NEXT WEEKEND, WE RESUME THE 11 AM MASS, IN-STEAD OF 10 AM!! Tell your friends! In this issue you will find the parish financial report

for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. As we examine

the numbers, I believe it will be evident why the recent

Grateful Giving increased weekly offering initiative

was so important in sustaining the life of the parish. The

St. Mary Finance Council is committed to transparency

of all of our income and expenditures. The names of

those who sit on the council are listed at the end of the

report, should any parish member desire to make contact

with questions or comments.

There are some wonderful photographs, on the next

page, of St. Mary School children and parents. In case

you’d be wondering, these were taken at what we call

“Orientation Night.” That is why the children are not in

uniforms. I hope and pray that all the children of the

parish have had a positive start to the school year. I

want to remind families of my very serious responsi-

bility to provide for adequate education in our Cath-

olic Faith. It is important for our children who at-

tend school elsewhere— including those who have

attended Catholic school for some of their elementary

years and then transferred to public school— to be

engaged in our Parish School of Religion. Kelly Has-

senzahl, our Director of Faith Formation, has a won-

derful way of reaching out to families and lovingly

exhorting them at the first teachers in the way of

Faith, to build a partnership between home and par-

ish. We are planning what we believe is going to be an en-

joyable and also very informative event as part of our

annual fall kick-off of Faith Formation. Look in future

issues of the bulletin for extended information regarding

a Disciple Maker Faire, to be held on Sunday, Septem-

ber 17. There will be fun activities, a presentation by

Terrie Baldwin from the diocesan Evangelization Office,

and an opportunity for parishioners of all ages to explore

ministries and groups within the parish, wherein for

them to share the gifts— charisms— that God has given

them.

As was mentioned in last week’s bulletin, we have

placed an image of the Korean Madonna, gifted to us by

Fr. Augustine Lee, in the sanctuary of Church. She re-

minds us: 1) that Mary has many faces for her children

throughout the world, because she truly desires to be a

Mother to us all, and 2) to pray for our brothers and sis-

ters in Korea, during these tumultuous days.

Peace for All,

Please NOTE:

Beginning on Sunday, September 3, the 10:00am Mass time will change back to 11:00am.

FROM THE FAITH FORMATION OFFICE…

Questions about being a Catholic Christian?

John 1:39 “Come," Jesus replied, " and you will see."

Are You or someone you know…

-Curious about Catholic practices and beliefs or have questions about the Catholic Faith?

-Not Catholic, but participate with your family and wish you could join them in communion?

-A baptized Catholic who never received confirma-tion?

-Drawn to some aspects of the Faith but question or have issues with others?

If something is nudging you to find answers for your questions, “Come and See” (Catholic Inquiry) is a casual and conversational environment where people who are exploring Catholic Christianity get to know more about the basic message of Christ and the mission of his Church. This is an accessible and welcoming way to take a look at the bigger picture about God, Jesus, the Bible, the Christian story and the Catholic Church. If something is nudging you to invite someone, please take a postcard and start a conversation with them!
