HEALING AND SALVATION

The readings today speak of healing and salvation. In Second Kings, Naaman, a commander of the army of the king of Syria, develops leprosy. He goes to a stranger, a prophet from Israel, when no one else can cure his disease. Much to his surprise, after a simple bath in the river, he is cured. In Luke’s Gospel, Jesus cures ten lepers and sends them to the priest. Only one, a Samaritan, returns to thank Jesus for his cure and only he hears the words, “Your faith has saved you.” The psalm and Timothy remind us that sal-

vation involves justice, kindness, and faithful-ness and forever links us with Jesus. In a world as broken as ours, both healing and salvation are necessary. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

SANACIÓN Y SALVACIÓN

Las lecturas de hoy hablan de sanacio n y salvacio n. En el segundo libro de los Reyes, Naama n, un comandante del eje rcito del rey de Siria, se enferma de lepra. E l va con un extranjero, un profeta de Israel cuando nadie ma s puede curar su enfermedad. Para su sorpresa, despue s de un sim-ple ban o en el rí o, e l sano . En el Evangelio de Lucas, Jesu s sana a diez leprosos y los enví a con el sacerdote. Solo uno, un samaritano, regresa a agradecerle a Jesu s por haberlo sanado y e l solo escucha las palabras: “tu fe te ha salvado”. El Salmo y Timoteo nos recuerda que la salvacio n involucra
