Beyond the Myth of the ‘bathing suit’ rule

In the past, child abuse prevention programs focused on teaching children and young people that their “private body parts” are those

parts of the body covered by a bathing suit. Teaching the concept of “total body safety” has become the latest practice. It is important for

children to understand that their entire body is private. Parents should be watchful of adults who might be “grooming” a child by

Catholic Bible Institute Update! Responding to Pope Francis's renewed focus on Adult Faith Formation, Fr. Diego has accepted the invitation from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles to start an English Catholic Bible Course with the vision of establishing a Catholic Bible Institute (CBI) in the area.

St Hilary Parish launched last September 12, 2017 the first English Bible Course.

70 church-goers registered. They are from St Hilary and various neighbor parishes, i.e.

St. Francis Xavier, Pico Rivera San Mariana de Paredes, Pico Rivera Our Lady of Perpetual Help, Downey & Los Nietos St. Linus & St John of God, Norwalk St. Joseph & St. Louis de France, La Puente St. Benedict, Montebello St. Dominic Savio, Bellflower St. Raymond, Downey St Rose of Lima, Maywood St. Bruno, Whittier St. Ireneaus, Cypress St. Helen, South Gate San Pancratius, Lakewood First semester features the Old Testament. The second semester to start in January 2018 will feature the New Testament

In the 7:00 - 8:30 pm class, participants have been actively participating in the small group discussions, sharing experiences, praying, reflecting and enjoying snacks at St Hilary Parish Hall.

Facilitators are Laura Ricard and Deborah Crowe, both graduates of CBI, Loyola Marymount University. Dominik Gnirs is the Coordinator from the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Local coordinators are Ethna Garcia and Ellen Gabriel.

Así habló el Señor a Ciro, su ungido, a quien ha tomado de la mano para someter ante él a las naciones y desbaratar la potencia de los reyes, para abrir ante él los portones y que no quede nada cerrado: "Por amor a Jacob, mi siervo, y a Israel, mi escogido, te llamé por tu nombre y te di un título de honor, aunque tú no me conocieras. Pablo, Silvano y Timoteo deseamos la gracia y la paz a la comunidad cristiana de los tesalonicenses, congregada por Dios Padre y por Jesucristo, el Señor.
