A Message from Fr. Davy’s Desk: Today we celebrate the Feast of Corpus Christi - the Body and Blood of Christ. Holy Eucharist is the center of

our faith. These days when I talk to people the first question they ask is: “when are we going to have Mass?”

It’s true we all miss celebrating the Holy Mass in the church. We all have received inspiration and spiritual

energy through the Holy Eucharistic devotion. We read in the first chapter of the Gospel of John, The Word

was made Flesh. We know that Christ is the Immanuel, God with us. That is the reason why Jesus instituted

the Holy Eucharist to make us feel his presence with us forever.

Remember in the Book of Exodus that the people in the desert were without food and feared for their lives. In

response, God gave them bread from Heaven called “manna,” which they collected each morning. Without

eating that bread from Heaven, they would never have made it to the Promised Land; they would have

perished in the desert. In the same way Jesus Christ offered his body and blood for us to eat and drink and live

forever. Jesus said: “whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood will live forever” (John 6:54).

We worship Jesus in the Eucharist and when we approach a tabernacle, we do bend the knee. The Holy Spirit

transforms the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ. The bread and wine become the flesh and

blood of Jesus through transubstantiation. For that reason we worship the Blessed Sacrament and recognize

Jesus' real and substantial presence in the Eucharist.

A few people ask the question: Why do I have to go to Mass? The answer is simple: To worship and to

receive Jesus - as Lord and Savior. Remember our purpose in this life. Not to earn a million dollars or to make

a name for ourselves. Those things are fine, but they will vanish like smoke. Our purpose is to know, love and

serve God in this life and to be happy with him forever in heaven. Every time when we celebrate the Holy

Mass we remember Jesus who gave his body and shed his blood for our salvation. That is the reason why we

remember him with gratitude through the thanksgiving celebration of the Holy Eucharist. St Paul reminds us

of the worthy participation and reception of the Holy Communion 1 Cor. 11:29.

These days as we return to the church to pray, though unable to receive the Holy Communion, spending

sometimes in the presence of Christ will nourish us spiritually. Before the passion when Jesus went to pray he

asked the disciples to stay awake. He didn’t even ask them to pray. Therefore, dear friends, let us spend

sincerely sometimes in the presence of the Holy Eucharist.

On this Solemnity of the Body of Christ we used to have outdoor procession. This year due to the pandemic,

COVID- 19 we are unable to organize it but let us receive Jesus in our hearts and walk through the streets of

our own life. I wish you all a happy solemnity of the Corpus Christi.

ST. ANTHONY - ST. ALPHONSUS OPEN FOR PRIVATE PRAYER

The lower Church will be open daily from 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon for private prayer only.

The following directives are for the faithful, who must adhere when visiting our parish:

• Parishioners MUST wear masks. No one should be in church without a mask. We will not be providing any masks, please be sure to bring from your household. Please avoid shaking hands.

• There is to be no congregating of people (e.g. gathering to say a rosary together etc.). NO MORE THAN TEN (10) people in the church and there cannot be a group gathered. • We urge anyone who feels sick in any way, the elderly and all who are health compromised to STAY HOME. Parishioners should take their temperatures before leaving their home and should stay home if the temperature is over 100 degrees. • Please always practice six (6) feet social distancing while visiting the church. • Please sit in designated areas, which will be marked off for everyone’s safety. Do not try to sit in a re-

stricted area. • There will be NO holy water in the fonts. • The shrine room will be kept CLOSED. Please do not touch statues or other devotional objects in the

church. The missalettes have been removed from the pews and stored away. Bulletins will not be distributed nor any literature available for people to take. • Please do not drop off anything in the church including clothing donations, flowers or reading materials, etc. Any materials or objects found will be thrown in the trashcan. • Please call the Rectory to schedule an appointment for confessions and for all other inquiries. The office will remain closed for visits until further notice. • Funerals, Baptisms, and Weddings will also be limited to ten people, with everyone required to wear a mask. Please contact the parish office to further discuss diocesan directives with priest. • For the foreseeable future, we will not be scheduling any events, which will draw crowds and make social distancing difficult. • Please adhere to directives by parish staff. The health of all the faithful of the Diocese is of utmost concern, so let us continue to pray to the Lord Who is a healer to protect us and bring about quickly an end to this present crisis. We ask that you please be respectful of the new social distancing rules and adhere to all the directives by the parish staff. Praying for your safety and health daily. Let us help keep each other safe.

Hoy celebramos la fiesta del Corpus Christi, el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. La Santa Eucaristía es el centro de

nuestra fe. En estos días, cuando hablo con la gente, la primera pregunta que hacen es: "¿cuándo vamos a tener mi-

sa?" Es verdad que todos extrañamos la celebración de la Santa Misa en la iglesia. Todos hemos recibido inspiración

y energía espiritual a través de la Santa devoción eucarística. Leemos en el primer capítulo del Evangelio de Juan,

La Palabra se hizo Carne. Sabemos que Cristo es el inmanuel, Dios con nosotros. Esta es la razón por la que Jesús

instituyó la Santa Eucaristía para hacernos sentir su presencia con nosotros para siempre.

Recuerden en el Libro del éxodo que la gente en el desierto estaba sin comida y temía por sus vidas. En respuesta,

Dios les dio pan del Cielo llamado "maná", que recogían cada mañana. Sin comer ese pan del Cielo, nunca habrían

llegado a la Tierra Prometida; habrían perecido en el desierto. De la misma manera, Jesucristo ofreció su cuerpo y su

sangre para que comiéramos, bebimos y vivamos para siempre. Jesús dijo: "Quien coma mi carne y beba mi sangre

vivirá para siempre" (Juan 6:54).

Adoramos a Jesús en la Eucaristía y cuando nos acercamos a un tabernáculo, doblamos la rodilla. El Espíritu Santo

transforma el pan y el vino en el Cuerpo y la Sangre de Cristo. El pan y el vino se convierten en la carne y la sangre

de Jesús a través de la transubstanciación. Por eso adoramos al Santísimo Sacramento y reconocemos la presencia

real y sustancial de Jesús en la Eucaristía.

Algunas personas hacen la pregunta: ¿Por qué tengo que ir a misa? La respuesta es simple: Adorar y recibir a Jesús,

como Señor y Salvador. Recuerda nuestro propósito en esta vida. No para ganar un millón de dólares o para hacer un

nombre por nosotros mismos. Esas cosas están bien, pero desaparecerán como el humo. Nuestro propósito es

conocer, amar y servir a Dios en esta vida y ser felices con él para siempre en el cielo. Cada vez que celebramos la

Santa Misa recordamos a Jesús que dio su cuerpo y der soltó su sangre para nuestra salvación. Esta es la razón por la

que lo recordamos con gratitud a través de la celebración de acción de gracias de la Santa Eucaristía. San Pablo nos

recuerda la digna participación y recepción de la Santa Comunión 1 Co. 11:29.

Estos días, cuando volvemos a la iglesia para orar, aunque no podemos recibir la Santa Comunión, pasar a veces en

presencia de Cristo nos nutrirá espiritualmente. Antes de la pasión cuando Jesús fue a orar, pidió a los discípulos que

se mantuvieran despiertos. Ni siquiera les pidió que oraran. Por tanto, queridos amigos, gastemos sinceramente a

veces en presencia de la Santa Eucaristía.

En esta solemnidad del Cuerpo de Cristo solíamos tener procesión al aire libre. Este año, debido a la pandemia,

COVID- 19 no podemos organizarla, pero recibamos a Jesús en nuestros corazones y caminemos por las calles de
