This man was…awaiting the consolation of Israel (Luke 2:25)Who wouldn’t like a bit of consolation today? Who wouldn’t like to feel the Lord put his arm around their shoulders and tell them; “Everything’s going to be okay? Simeon was look-ing for God’s consolation. God had promised restoration for his people, Israel. He had promised a Messiah who would sit on the throne of David and draw all the nations to Jerusalem. For many years, Simeon had prayed for this promises to be fulfilled, but nothing had happened. Israel was still an occu-pied nation, and her people was still divided between rich and poor, Pharisee and Sadducee, Galilean and Judean. So Simeon continued to pray for redemption. And he waited. Then the day came. Imagine how tender that moment was when Simeon took the child Jesus into his arms. The “consolation of Israel” had finally arrived (Luke 2:25). You can just hear the emotion welling up in his words: “Now, Master, you may let your servant go in peace” (2:29). At last, I have seen him. I can depart now, Lord, because you have come to save my people. Simeon knew right then and there that everything was going to be okay. He didn’t know how it would happen or when it would happen, but that didn’t mat-ter. He knew that it would happen, and that was enough for him to believe. God knows your anguish; he hears your pray-ers; he knows your concerns. So let him console you. Today in the house of the Lord, you will meet Jesus in the unlikely form of bread and wine-as Simeon met him in the unlikely form of an infant. When you receive him, think of this prayer-ful man. Just as he did, take Jesus into your hands and into your heart. He has come to bring salvation and consolation. He may not tell you how or when, but it doesn’t matter right now. Christ is in you, and everything is going to be okay.

VOCATION PRAYER CHALICE PROGRAM
This program encourages families to pray regularly for vocations to priesthood and consecrated life. Each week a family would receive the Vocational Chalice at Mass and take it home with a promise to “pray for vocations” during the week. The family would place the chalice in a prominent place in
their home and would gather together each day to pray around the chalice asking God to help raise awareness for vocations in our parish. Prayers booklets will be given to the family with a different prayer each day. At the end of the week, the family would bring the chalice back to the parish so the next family could take it home. We hope that through prayer, our parish may become a source of vocations to serve the diocese and the Church, if you are interested, please speak to Deacon Jorge Alvarado or come to the parish sacristy to regis-ter. Thank You. PROGRAMA DE ORACION / CALIZ VOCACIONAL Este programa tiene el propósito de motivar a las familias a orar regularmente por las vocaciones sacerdotales y a la vida consagrada. Cada semana una familia recibirá el caliz vocacional durante la misa y se lo llevará a su casa con el compromise de “orar por las vocaciones” durante esa sema-na. La familia pondrá el cáliz en un lugar adecuado y visible en su casa y se reuniran cada dia alrededor del caliz para orar, pidiendo la ayuda de Dios por las vocaciones en nuestra Iglesia católica y muy en especial en nuestra parroquia. (usen las oraciones sugeridas en el libro que se le ha entregado). Al final de la semana, la familia regresará con el caliz a la par-roquia para poder entregar a la siguiente familia. Tenemos la esperanza que por medio de la oración, nuestra parroquia será una fuente de vocaciones para servir a la diócesis y a la Iglesia.
