FIRST READING 1 KINGS 17:10-16 In those days, Elijah the prophet went to Zarephath. As he arrived at the entrance of the city, a widow was gathering sticks there; he called out to her, “Please bring me a small cupful of water to drink.” She left to get it, and he called out after her, “Please bring along a bit of bread.” She answered, “As the LORD, your God, lives, I have nothing baked; there is only a handful of flour in my jar and a little oil in my jug. Just now I was collecting a couple of sticks, to go in and prepare something for myself and my son; when we have eaten it, we shall die.” Elijah said to her, “Do not be afraid. Go and do as you propose. But first make me a little cake and bring it to me. Then you can prepare something for yourself and your son. For the LORD, the God of Israel, says, ‘The jar of flour shall not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, until the day when the LORD sends rain upon the earth.’” She left and did as Elijah had said. She was able to eat for a year, and he and her son as well; the jar of flour did not go empty, nor the jug of oil run dry, as the LORD had foretold through Elijah. The word of the Lord. SECOND READING HEBREWS 9:24-28 Christ did not enter into a sanctuary made by

hands, a copy of the true one, but heaven itself,

that he might now appear before God on our behalf.

Not that he might offer himself repeatedly, as the

high priest enters each year into the sanctuary with

blood that is not his own; if that were so, he would

have had to suffer repeatedly from the foundation

of the world. But now once for all he has appeared

at the end of the ages to take away sin by his

sacrifice. Just as it is appointed that human beings

die once, and after this the judgment, so also

Christ, offered once to take away the sins of many,

will appear a second time, not to take away sin but

to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him.

GOSPEL MARK 12:38-44 In the course of his teaching Jesus said to the crowds, “Beware of the scribes, who like to go around in long robes and accept greetings in the marketplaces, seats of honor in synagogues, and places of honor at banquets. They devour the houses of widows and, as a pretext recite lengthy prayers. They will receive a very severe condemnation.” He sat down opposite the treasury and observed how the crowd put money into the treasury. Many rich people put in large sums. A poor widow also came and put in two small coins worth a few cents. Calling his disciples to himself, he said to them, “Amen, I say to you, this poor widow put in more than all the other contributors to the treasury. En aquel tiempo, el profeta Elías se puso en camino hacia Sarepta. Al llegar a la puerta de la ciudad, encontró allí a una viuda que recogía leña. La llamó y le dijo: “Tráeme, por fa-vor, un poco de agua para beber”. Cuando ella se alejaba, el profeta le gritó: “Por favor, tráeme también un poco de pan”. Ella le respondió: “Te juro por el Señor, tu Dios, que no me queda ni un pedazo de pan; tan sólo me queda un puñado de harina en la tinaja y un poco de aceite en la vasija. Ya ves que estaba recogiendo unos cuantos leños. Voy a preparar un pan para mí y para mi hijo. Nos lo comeremos y luego mori-remos”. Elías le dijo: “No temas. Anda y prepáralo como has dicho; pero primero haz un panecillo para mí y tráemelo. Después lo harás para ti y para tu hijo, porque así dice el Señor Dios de Israel: “La tinaja de harina no se vaciará, la vasija de aceite no se agotará, hasta el día en que el Señor envíe la lluvia sobre la tierra”. Entonces ella se fue, hizo lo que el profeta le había dicho y comieron él, ella y el niño. SEGUNDA LECTURA HEBREOS 9, 24-28 Hermanos y hermanas: Cristo no entró en el santuario de la an-tigua alianza, construido por mano de hombres y que sólo era figura del verdadero, sino en el cielo mismo, para estar ahora en la presencia de Dios, intercediendo por nosotros. En la antigua alianza, el sumo sacerdote entraba cada año en el santuario para ofrecer una sangre que no era la suya; pero Cristo no tuvo que ofrecerse una y otra vez así mismo en sacrificio, porque en tal caso habría tenido que padecer muchas veces desde la crea-ción del mundo. De hecho, él se manifestó una sola vez, en el momento culminante de la historia, para destruir el pecado con el sacrificio de sí mismo. Así como está determinado que los hombres mueran una sola vez y que después de la muerte ven-ga el juicio, así también Cristo se ofreció una sola vez para qui-tar los pecados de todos. Al final se manifestará por segunda vez, pero ya no para quitar el pecado, sino para salvación de aquellos que lo aguardan y en él tienen puesta su esperanza. EVANGELIO MARCOS 12, 38-44

En aquel tiempo, enseñaba Jesús a la multitud y le decía: “¡Cuidado con los escribas! Les encanta pasearse con am-plios ropajes y recibir reverencias en las calles: buscan los asientos de honor en las sinagogas y los primeros puestos en los banquetes; se echan sobre los bienes de las viudas haciendo ostentación de largos rezos. Éstos recibirán un castigo muy riguroso”. En una ocasión Jesús estaba sen-tado frente a las alcancías del templo, mirando como la gente echaba allí sus monedas. Muchos ricos daban en abundancia. En esto, se acercó una viuda pobre y echó dos moneditas de muy poco valor. Llamando entonces a sus discípulos, Jesús les dijo: “Yo les aseguro que esa po-bre viuda ha echado en la alcancía más que todos. Join the Incarnation Sunday Choir! I would like to invite you and your friends

to join the Incarnation Sunday choir.

New members need to commitment to rehearsals/Masses, be able to match pitch and follow directions. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings at 7:00 and the choir partici-pates in 3 of 4 of the 9:30 Masses each month. Bake and Boutique It’s that time of year again for the Bake an Boutique sale. It will be held Saturday December 5 from 9 a.m.- 2 p.m. and Sunday December 6 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 pm. We need holiday crafts, decorations and baked goods. So get out your favorite cookie recipe and get ready to bake. We are in search for volunteers for set up on Fri-day, and sellers for Saturday and Sunday. We also need workers for the pancake breakfast on Sunday and with clean up. REMEMBERING OUR DECEASED LOVED ONES:

During Jesus’ lifetime, it was already a practice among some Jews to pray for the dead. Early Chris-tians, believing as we do in a life beyond this life, continued the practice. At each day’s Masses we remember our beloved ones, and I have also made the remembrance of my loved ones a part of my daily prayers. Since the Church dedicates this month to such prayer, may I suggest that you use these weeks to cultivate the habit of such prayer into your daily routine? We pray with and for those who have gone before us. THE FEAST OF SAINT MARTIN DE PORRES: With last weekend’s focus on all the saints, I neglected to mention a particular saint whose feast was last Tuesday. Saint Martin de Porres carried the faith and the blood of both of our parishes in his heart. He was a Latino man, the son of an African mother and a European father. He was depreciated by the Church of his day, but responded with healing love. He was at least in some ways a twenty-first century saint in the 17th century! May our hearts be as large as his was. PARISH AND COMMUNITY FINANCES: A SUMMARY: Last weekend you heard the following main points of emphasis about our financial situa-tion. First, the recently completed fiscal year 2015 was our best year in at least a decade. Your giving to the parish increased by ten percent, and we strengthened the relationship between Sagrado Co-razon and Hiawatha Leadership Academy. Second, we nonetheless had a deficit again last year. When we finally are able to calculate what funds are owed to the parish from the separate corporation called

DIFUNTOS: Cuando Jesús caminaba en este mun-do, ya fue costumbre de algunos judíos rezar por los difuntos. Los primeros cristianos, creyendo en una vida más allá de esta, siguieron con la práctica. En las misas de cada día nos acordamos de nuestros queridos, y yo también lo hago diariamente en mis oraciones privadas. En cuanto la Iglesia dedica este mes a tal oración, ¿puedo sugerir que tu uses estas semanas para cultivar estas oraciones en tu rutina diaria? Rogamos con y por los que nos precedieron en el camino. FIESTA DE SAN MARTIN DE PORRES: Enfocando hace ocho días en todos los santos, me olvidé men-cionara un santo particular in anticipación de su fiesta del 3 de noviembre. San Martin de Porres llevó la fe y la sangre de ambas nuestras parroquias en su corazón. Fue latino, e hijo de una madre afri-cana y un padre europeo. Fue depreciado por la iglesia de su día, pero respondió con un amor sana-dor. Al menos de unas formas fue un santo de siglo XXI en el diez-y-seis. Que nuestros corazones sean tan largos como el suyo. Sagrado Corazon, we will have finished with a short-fall of about $90,000. Third, we have good reason to believe that we can finish our current year (Fiscal Year 2016) in the black – for the first time in a couple of decades. See the next paragraph for how we can do so. And finally, we have already begun to look toward our future. We have taken the first steps in “Incarnation 2020”, a process of taking care of our assets and directing them to our outreach and service ministries. Thank you, Incarnation members, for your generosity and your patience! PARISH AND COMMUNITY FINANCES: SOME

FOLLOW-UP: Two factors are already pointing to the success we expect to have this year: we have been promised a significant bequest, and we will have a clear business relationship with Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. But we still need your regular and even in-creased support. In fact, I am hoping that we can increase Sunday giving by ten percent again this year (as you so generously did last year). We are distrib-uting a flyer this weekend about some particular ways to help. Permit me to call attention to two. Your electronic giving to the parish will help “smooth out” the ups and downs in finances that make it hard for us to plan ahead. And at least some parish mem-bers work for companies that provide matching grants for employee philanthropy. Although they may not give to a church, they will likely support our Food Shelf. If you want to know more – let’s talk! THAT CONCERT AND RETREAT: The second half of this week has been filled with music and prayer. Thursday night after daily Mass, the Prayer Group sponsored a lovely concert of praise song. Then a Women’s Retreat followed on Friday and Saturday. Even as the weather was getting colder outside, we have turned up the “heat” inside. Come, Holy Spirit, and fill the hearts of your faithful people. Cause to burn within us the fire of your love. FIFTY DAYS FOR OUR LADY: We are already two weeks into the fifty days of prayer leading up to the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. The daily prayers that our members recite are simple. And their fellow-ship with one another is beautiful. If you want to join in, call the parish office and find out where today’s gathering is taking place. TWO INCARNATION FUNERALS: Last Tuesday we had a very small gathering in the church to pray eter-nal rest for Janice Schmidt. She lived the last part of her life in poor health and at a distance from her fami-ly. May she live forever with God’s family in heaven. Next Friday we will pray peace for a daughter of our parish. Mary Louise White grew up in Incarnation, and her family wanted to return here to say goodbye to her. Please pray peace for the entire family!

Si quieren saber más -- ¡hablemos! CONCIERTO Y RETIRO: La segunda mitad de esta semana se ha llenado con música y oración. El jueves el Grupo de Oración nos dio un con-cierto de música de alabanza. Pues un Retiro de Mujeres llenó el viernes y sábado. Aun mientras se pone más frio afuera, estamos “calentando” al interior. Ven, Espíritu Santo, y llena los corazo-nes de tus fieles. Enciende en nosotros el fuego de tu amor. LA PASCUA GUADALUPANA: Estamos ya en la ter-cera semana de los 50 días de preparaciones por la Fiesta de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. Las oracio-nes recitadas por los feligreses son sencillas, y su so-lidaridad es muy bella. Si quieres participar, llama a la oficina parroquial ara saber donde la reunión de hoy o mañana toma su lugar. DOS FUNERALES DE INCARNATION: El martes pasado tuvimos poca gente en la iglesia, pidiendo el descanso eterno de Janice Schmidt. Vivió la ultima parte de su vida en mala salud y distanciada de su familia. Que viva siempre en la familia celestial de Dios. El viernes que viene tendremos misa por una hija de la parroquia. Mary Louise White crió en esta parroquia, y su familia quería regresar aquí por su despedida. ¡Recen la paz de toda la familia!
