I also had some students visit to show me their work. Skye, Chloe L, Tanner and Alanah from K/1G shared their great addion and subtracon work. Harry in K/1H read me his Rhino informaon report and Kallum from 2/3W showed me his neat handwring. Well done guys, keep up the great work. World Teachers Day On Friday 25th October is World Teachers Day and I would like to acknowledge the work teachers do, their dedicaon, commitment and their professionalism. The occupaon of a teacher requires a range of very special personal qualies, strengths and talents. It requires selfless- ness and an unrelenng focus on children and their best interests. I would like to thank our teachers for the special job they do. CARES – Community and Educaon Bike Safety 2013 Wyee Public School’s Year 5 and Year 6 students will be parcipang in a Bike Educaon and Safety day at Palmdale on Thursday 24 th October 2013. The CARES program is presented by NSW Police Officers and it will involve a pre-visit lecture, an outdoor obstacle course to enhance basic cycle skills and a roadway cycle course to expose students to a variety of real road situaons in a controlled and safe environment. The program is designed to encourage posive and responsible atudes to riding and to develop knowledge to help children and teenagers ride safely on the road. The cost to parcipate is $12.00 and if you would like your child to aend please return the permission note that was issued last Friday. Loud Shirt Day This Friday 18 October 2013 is Loud Shirt Day, a fun one day event when you can wear your brightest clothes and raise money to help give the giſt of sound and speech to deaf children. Whether you fancy stripes, florals, polka dots or paisley, as long as its got colour and pizzazz, it will be per- fect for Loud Shirt Day. Don’t forget to bring in a gold coin donaon. Wyee P.S Working Bee The school will be having a working bee on Saturday 19 October 2013 from 9:00am-1:00pm. If you are able to aend please complete the re- turn slip on the following page. NAPLAN In May 2013, all students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 completed the National Assessment Program - Literacy and Nu-meracy (NAPLAN). The 2013 NAPLAN student reports will be issued to parents of students in Year 3 and Year 5 today. Our Year 3 were at or above National Average in Persuasive Writing, Spelling and Grammar and Punctua-tion. Our Year 5 results were at or above National Average in Persuasive Writing and Spelling and Year 3 to Year 5 growth made by the year 5 students was above state average in Reading, Grammar and Punctuation, Spelling and Writing. A very pleasing result. Multilit We are after any parents who can volunteer their time to help implement our Multilit literacy program. If you do have some spare time in your week and are able to help out, please let the front office know. School Photos—Say Cheese School photos will be taken on Tuesday, 22nd October. Students are to wear full school summer uniform and black school shoes. Please make sure each student has their own envelope on the day, family envelopes are available from the from office upon request and please include correct money as no change is given. Entry to Government Selective High Schools for Year 7 in 2015 - Online applications open Application is required by mid November 2013 for parents or carers of Year 5 students who wish their children to be considered for placement in Year 7 at a selective high school in 2015. Parents with internet access are requested to apply online. Online applications will be available from 15 October to 18 November 2013. Application information is available on the Department’s internet at: www.schools.nsw.edu.au/shsplacement For parents without internet access a limited number of paper application forms will be available in government primary schools, selective high schools, network offices and NSW State Office at Bridge Street from 22 October 2013. Paper applications must be submitted to the student’s school Principal by 18 November 2013. All students seeking Year 7 entry to a selective high school in 2015 will be required to take the Selective High School Placement Test on the morning of Thursday 13 March 2014. In NSW there are 17 fully selective high schools, 25 partially selective high schools, 4 selective agricultural high schools and a virtual selective class provision, offering selective placement in Year 7. Learn to Swim Lessons—Expression of Interest Wyee Public School is offering “Learn to Swim” lessons in Term 4 from Monday 25th November until Friday 6th De-cember. This is 2 weeks of intensive lessons. The swimming lessons are offered to non-swimmers only and there will be a limit of 30 places. The total cost will be approximately $60 which includes – lesson, entry to pool and travel by bus. Each lesson being $6, a significant saving compared to private swimming lessons. Please return permission notes to secure your child’s place. We are requiring a volunteer with a Light Rigid (LR) Licence to drive one of the buses. Please contact the school if you are available to help out.

Morisset High School RAP Day RAP DAY is to support students in preparing to make new friends, face new challenges and learn new routines. Students will participate in a day of activities that support the development of: Resilience, Relationships, Organi-sation and Respect. Students are to arrive at Morisset High School by 9.10am, and can travel by school buses that service Morisset High School. The day will conclude at 3.00pm allowing students homeward travel via school buses or pick up. Students will be participating in fun physical activities and should be dressed in full school uniform that allows for such activity (sport uniform). There will also be a guest speaker coming from the ‘Outdoor Education Camp’ who we have booked our Year 7 Camp through for Week 11, Term 1, 2014. Parents are invited and strongly encouraged to come to this infor-mation session held in the school hall at 9.15-9.40am. There are two scheduled meal breaks during the day, Recess - 11.25am-11.55am and Lunch – 12.55pm-1.25pm. Students may pack their lunch or purchase items from the school canteen. Students should also pack sun protec-tion and water, now that we are in the warmer months, and their own pens for the day’s activities. Wyee App

Kindergarten Orientation Our first Kindergarten Orientation session will be on Wednesday 23rd October from 9:30am-11:00am in the hall. Parents will be provided with information about our school and morning tea will be provided. The 2014 Kinder-garten students will have the opportunity to visit the Kindergarten classroom and participate in activities. Our next Kindergarten Orientation visits are on Wednesday 6th November from 9:30pm-11:00am and Wednesday 20th November 10:30am-12:05pm.
