As I have gone around the school visiting classes I have been very impressed with the level of behaviour and engagement in each and every room. Well done Wyee! Swimming Carnival Our school swimming carnival will be run as a reduced carnival tomorrow, for competitors only, turning 8 years and older this year. All other students K-6 not wishing to compete in the carnival will be able to attend school as normal with their usual classroom teacher. Please note that the canteen will not be open on Tuesday. Meet and Greet Next week on Wednesday, February 19, we will be hosting a BBQ for all of our families. This is an opportunity for you to come along and meet your child/rens class teacher as well as other staff across our school. This is NOT a time for a parent teacher interview – if you need to discuss a particular issue or concern with your childs teacher, please book a meeting time with them. All staff will be in the school hall and there will be a BBQ provided under the Hall COLA. Please ensure you have returned your RSVPs to this event so we have an idea of numbers for catering purposes. Looking forward to seeing you all there! We would like to thank Radcliffe Wyee who have once again generously donated the food and drinks for the event. Sports in School Australia This year we are continuing to run the Sports in Schools Australia (SISA) program K-6. Each fortnight qualified teachers and coaches will be coming to our school to run 2 x 2 hour sessions of sport and activities. All students K-6 will be participating in these activities. Semester 1 activities include Gymnastics, Athletics and Social Skills. Students will rotate through all 3 activities in the 2 hour session. Student can wear sport shoes on these days, and it would be preferable for girls to wear skorts in place of the tunic. While students are involved in SISA activities the teachers will be working closely with Mrs Melvin -Instructional Leader, and Mrs Nichols - Curriculum Leader, to participate in targeted professional learning and collegial discussions with a particular focus on Literacy and Numeracy. A large focus of this time will be used to monitor and track achievement and progress of every single student, in every single class to ensure all students reach their full potential. How exciting is that! PBL School-Wide Acknowledgement Matrix and Discipline Management Plan Today we have sent home a copy of our schools PBL School-Wide Matrix and Discipline Management Plan. The matrix outlines for you the wide range of positive awards students at Wyee Public School receive throughout the year. The Discipline Management Plan outlines the consequences for students who choose not to follow the school wide expectations of being safe, respectful and engaged. Have a great week! Dear Parents,

What a wonderful settled start we have had to the year. As I have gone around the school visiting classes I have been very impressed with the level of behaviour and engagement in each and every room. Well done Wyee!

Pancake Day Fundraiser Today a flyer has come home from the canteen for a special Pancake Day. The proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to support Miss Anika O’Brien. For those of you who are unaware Miss O’Brien was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. As you can imagine this is a very difficult time for her physically and mentally but also financially. I am sure you will all join myself and the staff in supporting Miss O’Brien during this difficult time and respect her privacy.

P&C Meeting Our first P&C Meeting will be held on Wednesday 19th February from 9:30 – 10:15am in the school library. We would love to see some new faces this year! All are welcome to attend. Our 18th March meeting will be our Annual General Meeting (AGM). Payment of the $2 membership fee must be made by the close of one meeting prior so that the member is eligible to exercise membership rights (eg vote) at the next meeting. Therefore if members wish to nominate for a position on the 2020 P&C Executive or would like to nominate or vote for another member, membership fees must be paid before the close of the first P&C meeting. If you are unable to make the first meeting but are wishing to become a financial member, you are able to pay at the office prior to 10:15am on the 19th February.

Book Fee 2020 Book Fees can now be paid at the school office or via our online payment system. Cost of book fee this year is $60 per student. These packs are specific for each year level and cover textbooks, workbooks and subscriptions for the school year. Please ensure that your child is prepared for the school year by paying your book fees as soon as possible. Books and subscription information will be distributed directly to teachers. Teachers may send books home with students, once book fees are paid, for covering. Voluntary Contribution Voluntary contributions this year will be $10 per student per term. This can be paid, at the office or via our online payment system, in full ($40) or by term. Thank you to those who have already paid this contribution.

2020 Stage 3 - Canberra Excursion Our major excursion for Years 5 & 6 this year will take place from Wednesday 25th March to Friday 27th March. The excursion will provide many exciting and memorable learning experiences that are linked with our History unit ’Australia as a Nation’. This trip will include a visit to the Australian Institute of Sport, Parliament House, the National Dinosaur Museum and much more. Notes and information were distributed last year and we will be finalising numbers for this shortly. If you are intending for your child to attend this excursion, please return the Expression of Interest note along with the $50 deposit as soon as possible.

Congratulations Kai.
