I am hoping that many of you are able to come along and celebrate with us on Wednesday. We are excited about seeing all the students in their Book Week costumes and then our staff and students are eager to show you their classrooms and all the wonderful things they do each day! Our Book Fair will also be on throughout the week and parents will have the opportunity to purchase books with their child after the parade. You are all also invited to stay and join us for a picnic lunch following the classroom visits. Thursday night we will continue to celebrate Education Week with a special assembly at Morisset High School where all our Western Shores Learning Alliance (WSLA) schools will join together. At this assembly all schools will showcase performances and present awards to outstanding members of our school communities. Everyone is welcome to attend, refreshments will be served from 4pm with the ceremony commencing at 4:30pm. Kindergarten 2020 – ENROL NOW! If you have young children, or know of anyone with young children due to start school in 2020 please remind them that we are taking enrolments now. Our Musical Transition program is due to start in a few weeks and our Orientation Information will be sent out shortly to all those families who have enrolled. Public Speaking In the coming weeks our stage Public Speaking winners will be representing our school at the Zone Public Speaking competitions. Good luck to Liam and James, Stephanie and Aiden, Darcy and Layla as well as Harry and Harper in each of their competitions and congratulations on winning your stage competitions. Zone Athletics Good luck to all our athletes who will be competing at the Zone Athletics carnival next Monday 12 th August. Mrs Moulder will be the team manager on the day. Please ensure you arrive at the carnival on time and report to Mrs Moulder to get your childs name marked off. It is also important that during the day all students are to remain in the grandstand in our school area and not be hovering near the fence or in the out of bounds areas. I thank you in advance for your cooperation with this. Plant a Tree Day Thank you to Mrs Field for organising Plant a Tree Day on Friday. All our classes had the opportunity to plant some trees around our school and learnt how to look after trees through a range of classroom discussions and writing activities across school. Kinder Enrolment 2020

We are now taking enrolments for Kindergarten 2020. If you have a child or know someone with a child who will be starting kindergarten next year, please contact the office for the necessary forms. We will soon be starting organisation for orientation.

Education Week Celebrations - Week 3—Book Week Parade, Book Fair and Open Classrooms:

Book Week Parade and Book Fair—9.30am

Our annual book parade will be held on Wednesday 7th August at 9.30am. This year’s Book Week theme is “Reading is my Super Power”. Students are asked to dress up as some of their favourite book characters. There will be prizes for the most creative costumes.

The Scholastic Book Fair will be on display in the library during Week 3. The Book Fair will be open for purchasing after the parade and Wednesday and Thursday afternoons, until 3.45pm. Book sales help raise money for purchasing new books and equipment for the library.

Open Classrooms and lunch - 10.45—11.20am

Following the Book Week Parade Parents/ Grandparents/Carers will have the opportunity to visit their child/children in their classrooms as well as the library. This is an opportunity for your child to show you some of the work they have been doing in class. Special visitors are also invited to stay for lunch with their child/ren.

Plant a Tree Day

Wyee Public School celebrated “Plant a Tree Day” on Friday. All classes participated by planting some native shrubs and grasses in our school gardens and around our Learning Circle. We are looking forward to watching them grow and hope they will attract some beautiful wildlife into our school.

K-2 Hunter Valley Zoo Excursion

Kinder, Year 1 and Year 2 are going to the Hunter Valley Zoo on 30th August. Payment and note needs to be returned to school no later than 23rd August.

Stage 2 Outdoor Education Excursion

Stage 2 camp at Morisset Outdoor Education Centre on Thursday 19th and Friday 20th September is fast approaching. If you would like your child to attend and haven’t already paid the non-refundable deposit of $30, please do so by the end of this week to enable us to finalise numbers. Total cost for the excursion is $135 which should be paid by 6th September. Please advise us if your child will not be attending.
