At our parent presentation, community members were given the chance to have their say about the future directions for our wonderful school. The responses were fantastic and will certainly help to ensure that the planning for our school involves community input, student input and teacher input. We will all work together to continue creating the best possible learning experiences for our children. Many thanks also to the P&C and our fabulous mums who cooked the BBQ all morning for our open day. Your help was much appreciated. I also had a visit from our Director of Schools for West Lake Macquarie last Thursday. He was very impressed with our new foyer and gardens and with the direction Wyee PS is heading. Once again, our community spirit shone through, when Leanne Knapman raced in to jazz up our new foyer with some indoor plants. I have been continuing to see amazing student work in my office. A stand out was the digital stories created by 3W. Zayli, Ella and Bailey did an amazing digital story for Koala Lou. Kanye, Emily and Mikayla also showed their technology skills by creating a digital story for The Gruffalos Child. Well done to our little techno wizards in Year 3! Dear Parents,

Last week was another great example of the community spirit we have

here in Wyee. Even though the weather wasn’t kind to us, we had a

great turn out for our Open Day and parent presentation in the morning.

At our parent presentation, community members were given the chance

to have their say about the future directions for our wonderful school.

The responses were fantastic and will certainly help to ensure that the

planning for our school involves community input, student input and

teacher input. We will all work together to continue creating the best

possible learning experiences for our children. Many thanks also to the

P&C and our fabulous mums who cooked the BBQ all morning for our

open day. Your help was much appreciated.

I also had a visit from our Director of Schools for West Lake Macquarie

last Thursday. He was very impressed with our new foyer and gardens

and with the direction Wyee PS is heading. Once again, our community

spirit shone through, when Leanne Knapman raced in to jazz up our new

foyer with some indoor plants.

I have been continuing to see amazing student work in my office. A

stand out was the digital stories created by 3W. Zayli, Ella and Bailey

did an amazing digital story for Koala Lou. Kanye, Emily and Mikayla also

showed their technology skills by creating a digital story for The

Gruffalos Child. Well done to our little techno wizards in Year 3!

Finally this week, I look forward to seeing lots of Dads at our

Father’s Day breakfast on Thursday morning! Come along for a bacon

and egg roll and enjoy joining in some games with your children.

Staff Profile – Di Kirkham

I was fortunate to have been brought up in a small country town in Western NSW. I went to

Secretarial College in Dubbo the year after I left school. I then went to Sydney to pursue a

career and landed my first job as a legal secretary. I then trained in accounting and worked in

this field for many more years. I started working for the Department of Education in 1984 at

Liverpool Regional Office. I moved to Campbelltown and then started working in schools. I have

always said that I have been blessed to have the job that I do. When I started working here at

Wyee Public School it was like coming home. I love the fact that it is a small school and community

which is much like where I grew up. The passion and enthusiasm that the staff, parents and

students have is a real joy to share in every day.

School Banking The Penguin keyring is now out of stock. School Banking is every Friday. Thank you to

the students who bank through the school as with every deposit made, besides teaching

the value of saving the school receives a commission and it is a great fundraising

activity.

Hunter Region Athletics Last Friday Jesse, Cooper and Jack competed at the Hunter Region Athletics Carnival in

Newcastle. All of the boys competed to the best of their ability and it was a

tremendous effort to make it this far and represent our school at regional level.

Special congratulations to Jesse, who placed 3rd in the 13yr boys 100m. Jesse will now

represent our school at the NSW State Athletics Championships at the Sydney Olympic

Park in Homebush.
