Friends of Nature Celebrates 23 Yearsriends of Nature recently cele-brated its 23rd Anniversary.

Established by Doug & Lynn Wilde in1991 it has grown over the years from1,000 sq. ft. to 12,000 ft. in the recent-ly remodeled Pilgrim Village inMenomonee Falls. They added a sec-ond location in Slinger in 2000 and

purchased Landmark Supply inCedarburg in 2005.With the remodeling of the shopping

center we also spruced up the inside of the store, adding new carpeting, ceil-ing tiles and lighting This past October, new windows and doors were installedto enhance the overall appearance of our storefront.

Friends of Nature prides itself inhaving an extensive selection of holisticdog and cat foods. There have been

many new foods introduced into the petindustry over the last few years and wetry our best to pick the cream of thecrop. There is no one best food. Ouradvice is to buy the best food you canafford. Our staff is trained to help youmake a decision based on the nutri-tional needs and life style of your pet.

Road. There were 12 non-life threateninginjuries from that accident. Six additionalcrashes occurred north of Lannon Road. There were no fatalities for the crashes thatoccurred in Germantown.

I remember on Dec. 8, 2013 standingon US 41 just north of Holy Hill Road tryingto divert traffic off of US 41, Hoell stated inhis Facebook post. The wind and snowwere blowing, the icy snow was crunchingunder my feet, and some of the vehiclescoming towards me were clearly driving too

fast for the conditions.More recently, a four-vehicle crash

occurred on Hwy. 41/45 on Dec. 1, justnorth of Holy Hill Road in which a 44-year-old Milwaukee man was killed.

In his Facebook post, Hoell said that sixmiles of Hwy. 41/45 go through the village. In 2013, police responded to 604 acci-dents. As of the end of the September 2014,Hoell stated police responded to 450 acci-dents, a 10 percent increase from 2013.Hoell noted that in Germantown Hwy.41 and Hwy. 45 merge just north of HolyHill Road. Just south of Holy Hill Road, the

road goes over a railroad track while it alsochanges direction.

The high number of accidents on US 41are primarily due to aggressive driving, inat-tentive driving, and poor driving skills, whiletraveling in a heavily used traffic area.Aggressive driving habits include driving tooclose to other vehicles, driving too fast forconditions, unsafe lane changes, speeding, and road rage, Hoell stated. Inattentivedriving is another major cause of crashesand can involve driving too close and toofast while trying to look at cell phones orother electronic devices. Then there is thedriver we have all witnessed, the personwith poor driving skills that appears sudden-ly out of nowhere and is driving too fast, aggressively changing lanes without signal-ing, following too close and braking hardbehind someone driving slower than theyare.

When reached for commentHoell stated that the village polimary jurisdiction over the six mithe village but that it is also patrState Patrol and the WashingtSheriffs Department. The GPolice Department have receivetraffic enforcement from Department of TransportatioAccording to Hoell, last year hisreceived $60,000 in grants from figure which has dropped to $2year.

Hoell said speeding is the moviolation along Hwy. 41/45, but if an officer observes a violationbe conduced.

We receive a fair number ocalls from other drivers reportinor possible impaired drivers oalmost daily, he said.

The following report was takenfrom records at the GermantownPolice Department.

    Drs. Richard and Bruce Winter

Dear Dr. Winter, I have spaces between my teethand I have always been self-conscious about my smile.I am a college student so I am financially limited. Is

there anything that you can do to help me with myproblem?Dear John, it can often be intimidating to go to a

dentist when you dont know all of your options but wewould love to see you for a no charge consultation. If your teeth are in a good position but you simply havesome spacing we may be able to use white fillingscalled bonding to close your gaps. This may all bedone in one or two visits and can often last 5-7 years orlonger. Then when you are in a different economicposition we could replace the bonding with porcelainveneers. These veneers are thin white porcelain piecesthat cover your tooth and can often change the shapeand color of your teeth resulting in a much prettiersmile.

If you have a jaw that is too large for the size teethyou have, then perhaps crowns may be needed to tryand improve the overall height and width of your teeth.Again transitional bonding can help determine whatthe best solution is for your situation. If orthodonticscould solve your problem this also can be discussed. Itis always better to move teeth to close spaces then toadd materials that will eventually require replacementassuming your tooth size is acceptable.

Dear Dr. Winter, could you tell me about thedifference between Snap-On Dentures and mini-implant dentures? I am limited financially but I cantstand my dentures! They pop up during eating andtalking all the time and I need some way to stabilizethem. I read the testimonials on your website andwatched all the videos and I am convinced theseoptions will help me.

Dear Peter, regular sized implants are alwayspreferable to mini-implants. That is because there is agreater surface area on larger implants and they holdon to your bone better. Also traditional implants thatare 3.0 mm in diameter or larger can have the tops orchimneys changed in order to UPGRADE to a fixedbridge in the future. Mini-implants do not have anupgrade path. That means that if you decide to investmore time, effort and money in the future to have teeth

that stay in all the time, the mini-implants wouldneed to be removed and larger implants placed.

The article on Upgradeable Dentistryexplains this concept on the website:www.hamptondentalassociates.com where you cansee that any implants will improve your situation! The ability to use larger implants will allow us to uselarger attachments that have the ability to hold yourprosthesis even firmer then the mini-implants. Bothchoices will be way better then using dentureadhesive! I invite you and our readership to come infor a free consultation to see if Snap-On dentures orMini-Implant dentures are right for you! My goal asa dentist is to help everyone to get rid of theirdentures and move back to fixed teeth. These twochoices are wonderful ways to begin that journey.

The Germantown boys basketball teamstruggled early against Whitefish Baybefore an 11-2 run in the second quarterbroke the game open on the way to a 87-61 win Dec. 5.

A basket by Isaiah Johnson gave Bayan 18-12 lead at the end of the first quarter. That lead was erased when Germantown'sKyle Theis was fouled while converting alayup at the start of the second quarter, with Theis converting the layup.

"I was just waiting for a spark. We haveshooters on the team and we had openshots, we just didn't hit them in the first quar-ter. Second quarter, we kind of camearound a little bit and made some shots,Germantown Coach Steve Showalter said."To start the third quarter we came aroundwith great energy, ready to play."

A layup by Theis at the 3:32 mark star t-ed the 11-2 run, as Germantown led 34-24at halftime. A nine point run early in the

third quarter gave the Warhawks a 47-27lead following a basket by ConnerEdmonds.

Germantown held on to a double-digitlead in the fourth quarter even as threeplayers had three fouls.

"It was easier to manage fouls with a25 point lead, believe me," Showalter said, adding how he was challenged to managefouls during the first half of the seasonopener against Kettle Moraine.

"Luckily, we didn't get in too much foultrouble until the game was out of reach, hesaid.

Showalter said his team needs toimprove in rebounding following the Baycontest, while he praised his squad for theirunselfishness against the Blue Dukes.

Our ability to look for each other is oursaving grace, that's what makes us tough tobeat, relatively," Showalter said.

Hamilton gradually built on its leadagainst Slinger Dec. 9 before holding onfor a 55-44 win.

The Chargers held a 9-8 lead after thefirst quarter and opened up a seven-pointlead after a basket by Nate Fies gaveHamilton a 19-12 lead at the 3:55 mark of the second quarter.

A six-point run gave Hamilton a 52-32lead with 4:06 remaining but the Owls con-verted three three-point baskets to reducethe gap. Zach Jasinski led Hamilton with 14points.

Afterward, Hamilton Coach AndyCerroni noted that Assistant Coach DanHeckman told his team about "piling upgood possessions" on both offense anddefense.

"Offensively we didn't have any big,big run but we were efficient. Defensively,we had some stops and we strung somestops together in row to get a little lead,"Cerroni said.

Cerroni said his team did struggleagainst Slinger's press but his team wasable to get a few turnovers and extra pos-session with their pace.

Afterward, Hamilton had a 4-0 record. The Chargers were to begin Greater MetroConference play against Hamilton Dec. 12.

    Menomonee Falls 48, Franklin

30: Menomonee Falls limited Franklin tosingle-digits scores in the first three quarters. Jake Stauffacher and Dontrell Handy werethe leading scorers in the game, with bothscoring 12 points. Afterward, MenomoneeFalls had a 3-3 record. Menomonee Fallswas to open the Greater Metro Conferenceseason against Wauwatosa East Dec. 12.

The two halves of the Germantown-Grafton girls basketball game Dec. 6 couldnot have been more different.

A close lead turned into double-digitwin in a matter of minutes at the start of thethird quarter, as Germantown won 60-40.Both teams struggled to score in the firstquarter, as Germantown didn't get on theboard until the 5:02 mark, as a basket bythe Warhawks Taylor Higginbotham madethe score 3-2 in favor of Grafton. Graftonheld an 8-5 lead at the end of the quarterand a 23-22 lead by halftime.
