The Paracord 550 has other names such as 550 cord and parachute cord. The origin of these cords started during the

World War II by the United States Army. They used this lightweight for the suspending lines of the military parachutes.

Ever since, this has gained a lot of popularity among the militants and is always the first thing to be cut off, as they can

use it for several other survival practices.

Making Process:

the Hubble Space Telescope with the outside sheath of the cord during his second attempt in the space shuttle mission.

Although there has been civilian diversion ever since the origin of paracord 550 it hasn’t lost its identity and functional

importance in the military. The soldiers use it for different purposes such as securing equipment, binding, making the

shelter, sewing their fabrics, fishing lines, and also as a first aid kit.

People who are interested in creating crafts can also use this cord for that purpose. There are many videos which have

very precise and clear instructions on making anything from bracelets to key chains.

Types of Paracord 550: The commonly supplied paracord 550 can be classified into 6 types. They are Type 1, Type 2,

Type 3, Type 4, Type 1A, and Type 2A. Out of these, the Type 3 has the strongest efficiency and the breaking strength is

about 550 pounds and that’s where the name paracord 550 derived from. Like any other product, the quality of the cord

is different based on the manufacturing company. But, there is MIL-C-5040H standards which all factories have to oblige

which has been issued by the United Stated Military. However, the diameter of the cord can vary and there aren’t any

accurate requirements or specifications.
