paintingThe ability of women to transform andtranscend any situation seem to be a
wonder. In Accra, it is common sight to see younggirls and women, thrust into the streets
by socio-economic circumstances, to ekeout a living. They do all the menial andodd jobs to survive. Like seeds buried in
the grime and dark soil of Accra, theynevertheless sprout, beating the odds, into new life.
Accra based artist, Amarkine Amarteifio,
is intrigued by the transformation powerthese young women possess. He captures the story of their lives in
his paintings. From the endurance of pain and shame on the streetsthough the risky adventures in the markets and lungus, they nurseand nurture their irregular dreams into fruition.. The artist considers
this a miracle and portrays it in this painting and other.
Transformation is an ode to the resilience of women.

who
ISBlakofe?Blakofe?
To some she is a dynamic and versatile
presenter of the Mnets studio 53. To others, she
is crazy, wild and not to be messed with. Often
referred to as a human cameleon, shes also a
copywriter, producer, choreograper, a fashion
icon and someone now running her own creative
agency.
We have decided through this short report to
find out who she really is.
So who IS blakofe?
Im just a simple African woman with big
dreams was how she described her self to me.
So I kept on asking her about those dreams. She
first had this loud and contagious laugh that is
very unique to her.
wow where to begin? I believe we are all here
for a reason and a particular purpose. And if youask your Maker to help you, you can tune into
your spiritual self to fulfil your destiny. As long as I can
remember, to work on TV is all Ive wanted to do.
Although I always held part time jobs as a student, I
didnt even consider any other careers. I didnt really
know how to go about achieving this goal but I knew it
was something I was going to do. Back in 1996, I saidthat I wanted to work for Mnet and to go on the Oprah
show. Eight years later, I am a programmes presenter on
Mnet and although Ive not personally met Oprah (yet)
Ive just had the opportunity to be selected by her to
appear on her show. To me, being aware of your
spirituality, is always a means to achieve your dreams. I
used to run up and down doing hundred on the highway
of life, now Im taking it much more easy and still with
my spirituality I can achieve my objectives. Sometime Iwatch people rushing, hassling, stressing and I just pity
them. All they have to do is to believe, believe in
themselves, know their destiny and leave it in Yahs
hands.
You just sayYah what rel-gion are you ?
Im not religious, I think the
world is so busy being
religious that we have lost
spirituality. There is a huge
difference between being
religious and being in touch
with your own spirituality. But should we seriously talk
about it now? Arent we just about to Enjoy Accra and
know about everything concerning the high points of this
wonderful place we all live in.....
to others, she is crazy, wildand not to be messed with.

what goes up, mustcome down
There are a few things you can do to help
maintain, or improve your breast shape.
Bras
Bras, if not worn properly can do more
harm than good. If you wear a bra that
is not your size, you end up having
problems with your breasts and
how they eventually turn out.
This is especially for the
women with big busts. The
bra has to be picked out for
you by an expert who can
correctly tell what bra
size is good for you.
Apart from affectingyour breasts, bad bras
give you back aches
as well.
Massage
Luckily for us, there
are special mas-
sage techniques for
Men seem to love them. Some dont have
enough, some too much ,babies feed fromthem and they generally bring joy to those
who encounter them. So if they are so great,
why do we treat them so badly?
We do not like to maintain them the way we should.
Keeping them fit and healthy looking, is actually not that
difficult to do. What you have to keep in mind though is that
short of surgery, the best you can do with giving good shape to
your breasts is to maintain what you already have, or get back
as much of the shape you had when you were younger.
Unfortunately the old saying is true what goes up does
come down, faster, especially if left neglected.

helping breasts stay in shape. This has been put together to work the pectoral
muscles (the chest muscles), which will in turn raise your bust lne. To comple-
ment there are specially blended essential oils, which work to tone the chest
muscles.
Exercise
There are a few exercise routines that you can do to help your bust line;
breastrokes in and out of water are a good way to work your pectoral mus-
cles. Pushing your hands against each other when placed at chin level with
elbows sticking out on either side is a good way of working your muscles.

This one is really easy.
You might have trouble
finding lemon grass,
but I'm able to getit in several
supermarkets here.
If you can't find any,
I would suggest just
leave it out.
1First, make sure you havesome rice ready about thesame time the shrimps are
done. Peel the shrimp and
refrigerate. Prepare the rest
of the ingredients. Seed the
chillies if you don't like your
curry very hot. Peel the tough
outer portion off the lemon
grass. Dice the ginger finely
(or just slice it thinly against
the grain). For the lime - Use
a large lime instead of a
couple small ones. That
blends better. You only really
need about 80% of the peelfrom a large lime. I hope that
makes sense.
2 Now make a curry paste. Puteverything except the rice, coconut milk, and shrimp into a
blender. Add about 3/4 of a cup
of coconut milk. Blend slowly
until all of the ingredients getchopped up. Then run the
blender on high for at least a
minute. Unless your blender is
much better than mine it will
take a while to break up the lime
peel.
3Now cook the shrimp. Here
I'm sauteing them in a little
olive oil. Try not to over cook
them. Let's say about 1-2 minutes
per side on medium high. They'll
brown better if you don't crowd
the pan and don't play with
them.
4Take the cooked shrimp outand set them aside. Turn the
burner down to medium. Add the
curry paste from the blender to
the pan and add the rest of the
can of coconut milk. Let this
simmer for 1-2 minutes and then
add the shrimp back in. Heat
through.
5 And you're done! Serve overthe rice. Dig in.

Most surfers know
little about Ghana's surf-
ing secret. For example, do
you know you can enjoy surfing
at Mutrakini, which is close to
Ajemra? At Mutrakini, there is a
mellow right point break, consistent
head high and it is relatively cheap
and safe.
Busua beach, with Abokwa Island
offers an ideal scenery to hang out
as well as an offshore break.
The waves are fast there is a
right point, but many surfers walk to the west and pad-

AFRODITA LINGERIE SHOW.
Note that our spies at the launch told us
that the creative concept and production
were organised by Blakofe. Congratulations
from the team of Enjoy Accra!!!
Unexpected invitations can sometimes lead to
great surprises. That's how we can describe the
launch of Afrodita lingerie.
From the moment MCs Bola Ray of Joy FM and
MNet presenter Blakofe mounted the stage, we
knew we were about to have a good time, enjoying
the lingerie, the show and the entertainment!
Sexy models paraded a
range of Afrodita
lingerie - from G-
strings to sexy
pyjamas.. Big,
up to the
models who
strutted their
stuff confidently and
professionally. All in all,
it was a classy, stylish and tasteful
affair.

The hottest news in the
world of sports has got
to be the qualification of
the Black Stars to the
world cup in Germany

This ticket has been
obtained as the result of
many years of hard work
involving not only

also management,supporters and the
country as a whole. But
before they get to
Germany the Black Stars
will have to showcase
their skills during the
African Cup.
This is a really exciting
competition. For this
25th African Nation

arriving had real hope to
succeed.
We are now entering
the quarter finals of the

those quarter finals will
take place in Cairo on
February the 3rd. The
new comer in the field
had the chances to
defend themselves, the
hold one are still
fighting and wont let

Between the tenth century and theseventieth each young lady used to have hervalentine. The Valentine was in charge of
taking care of the lady any time that she had to
go for party, diner and other social entertainment.
The cavalier was in charge of buying a present
and be nice with the lady. On the 14th of February
the young ladies had to guess who would be their
future husband. To guess who would be their husbands, the ladies
would watch the birds.
If they saw a robin it meant they would
get married to a sailor, a sparrow
meant she would have a happy
family, but with someone without
fortune, on the other hand, a woman
who sees a goldfinch was sure to
engage herself to a rich husband.
Concerning the exact identity of St
Valentine, there are several views accord-
ing to historians. Seven different Christian
Saints are celebrated according to the Christians
calendar.
Which one of them is the famous ST Valentine
(chief of love) is quiet unclear.
Most historians, believed that Valentine's day
found its origin in the Roman's lucardes, which
used to be the annual celebration on the 15thof February to honour Lupercus, the god of herds
and shepherds. The celebration announced the
beginning of the spring in ancient Rome. On this
day, a lottery on love was organised. Couples
were made according to the name of women and
men written on a piece of paper and selected by
the assembly members. The couple made had to
stay together for the entire year. That could be
long in case of a wrong pick. Isn't it?
Nowadays, a lover has to offer a gift or some
flowers to his/her partner in life the 14th of
February.
CUPIDONFrom the Roman mythology, he is the god of love. Thename Cupidon comes from the Latin cupido which meandesire. Venus' son, Cupidon is also found in the Greekmythology where he is named Eros. In the Greekmythology he was the god of love and in love with thepretty Psyche.Today we recognise Cupidon under the draw of a young
naked baby armed with an arc and arrows. According tothe myth if you are touched by one of those arrows you'llfall in love with the first person that you'll meet
HEARTSOn Valentine' day, red heartsare found all over. They aretruly a sign for the event.
The heart in generally linked to the actof being in love. Since then, the redheart has become of the signs of LOVE.
LACEThe young ladies used to let their piece ofdentelle fall down in order for their man to pick it inorder to catch his attention. This piece of dentelle waslet down to catch the heart of the man.
XXX IN THE LETTER.To express love in a letter to our partner we can use theXXX symbol. This is from the catholic' religion. The X wasused instead of the Christian cross, expressing the faith
of someone. The cross was also used as the signature forthose unable to write. They had to make the cross andkiss it in the presence of a witness. This kiss is stillassociated with the cross and now in order to express akiss the XXX can be used.
VENICE.Have you ever dreamt of spending your valentine day inVenice? The city is known for being a totally romanticplace where you'll enjoy the pleasure of love. This placehas now become a reference to valentine day.
Do you know that Venice in fact usedto be a death row for manycondemned to the death penalty. Is it still romantic?
HAPPY VALENTINE 2006 !

your work, your duties, your responsibilit ies and yourtastes for instance, the will to engage in an artistictraining, a sport, or other. These tuggings make youunbalanced, especially since your idea of the house,as a port where you drop your anchor, is frantic. It isyou whom you seek through your roots.
