Each year KS3 students study 6 weeks of Food

• Learning how to cook is a crucial life skill that enables pupils to feed themselves and others affordably and well, now and in later life.

• Students understand and apply the principles of nutrition and health. They cook a repertoire of predominantly savoury dishes and learn to adapt their own recipes so that they are able to feed themselves a healthy and varied diet.

Key Stage 4Students who choose to study Food Technology will follow an AQA GCSE courseThey will undertake regular practical work with Controlled Assessments in Year 11

Specifically candidates will actively:• Develop as effective and independent candidates• Analyse existing food products and explore ways in which aesthetic,

economic, environmental, ethical and cultural dimensions interact to shape the making of food products

• Be involved in making decisions, consider food sustainability and combine cooking skills with knowledge and understanding in order to design and make quality food products within a budget

• Develop decision-making skills through individual and collaborative working
