EYFS and KS1

• The proportion of children achieving ‘a good level of development’ at the end of the EYFS is low - 42.9% compared to 52% nationally.

• At KS1 the % of pupils achieving Level 2+ is below the national average and is the lowest of our statistical and geographical neighbours in reading, writing and maths.

2013 key stage 5 outcomes

• Performance at key stage 5 remains an issue in the county, incl at higher grades

• Activity this year includes: – peer review project with school sixth forms – KS5 projects: critical thinking, maths &

English, collaboration on teaching & learning

• Diversification of provision:– New VI form in Seaford 2014; UTC in 2015– Other schools considering post-16 provision

Key Stage 4• Results of pupils at 16 years are much better

than might be expected given the number of pupils not meeting age-related expectations by the age of 11.

• Small increase this year in 5A*-C incl English & maths (1.1%)

• The DfE’s statistical first release shows a provisional national figure of 60.4%

FSM Attainment Gap

• The percentage point gap between pupils eligible for FSM achieving 5 A*-C grades at GCSE inc E&M and their peers, has narrowed by 1.4% to 28.8%.

• Key Stage 4 (KS4) attainment results show a 6.4% in the performance of FSM pupils since 2012 which completes a three year rising trend, but is still 5% below the East Sussex FFT B estimate.

SEN Attainment Gap

• Attainment gap between SEN/non SEN pupils increased from 52.3% (2012) to 54.1% (2013)

• Attainment for SEN pupils decreased in 2013 compared to an increase for non SEN pupils

Our targets for all key stages

• Performance at all key stages in line with national averages by summer 2014 and above by summer 2015.

• Gaps in achievement between those most vulnerable to under-achievement and their peers will reduce to be in line with national averages by summer 2014 and less than the national gap by summer 2015.
