Assumptions prior to starting

OpenPlant Power PID and Editing of Cell Libraries/Tag Sets

Editing of cell libraries and creation of Tag Sets and Tags

A general understanding of editing of cell libraries

Knowledge of creating tag sets o Creation of a Tag Set o Creation of tags o Assigning a tag set to an entity.

ProjectWise ProjectWise Explorer general use

A general understanding of ProjectWise Administrator

Knowledge of “Environments” in ProjectWise

Knowledge of “Attributes” in ProjectWise

Objective This session will cover OpenPlant PowerPID and ProjectWise title block integration. This applies to Select Series 4 only – version 08.11.09.xx. The purpose is to define the procedure to allow title block data in an OpenPlant PowerPID drawing to be updated by and to update a ProjectWise document properties/attributes. An assumption is being made that you understand creating Attributes in ProjectWise and that you understand ProjectWise Environments. The creation of a second tag set in the default border cell is required specifically for ProjectWise title block integration. If not using ProjectWise title block integration, and relying on the default editing of title block information via the “Drawing Settings” dialog then this procedure is not necessary. This will allow for two tag sets to be in the cell thus allowing for support of either method of title block updating.

General Overview of Required Administrative Task

OpenPlant PowerPID Border Cell

Modify the D size border in the “Miscellaneous” cell library to include a new tag set and tags and then apply this new tag set to the border title block area.

ProjectWise environments, attributes and attribute exchange rules

Create a new environment for title block integration

Create new attributes in the environment

Editing the OpenPlant PowerPID Border cell

Creating new tag set

Load the Miscellaneous.cel library.

Open the DSizeBorderSheet for editing.

From the menu select Elements>Tags>Define.

Note the existing TITLEBLOCK tag set – select this and from the Tag Sets dialog select Duplicate…

Name the new tag set TITLEBLOCK_PW.

Select the newly created tag set and modify the tags in the set by adding a “_PW” to each tag. NOTE – Remember the name of the tag set and tags – these will be needed when configuring ProjectWise environments and attributes.

Attaching Tags to the Border/Title Block

Continuing in the OpenPlant PowerPID and the DSizeBorderSheet.

Delete the existing tags in the title block.

From the menu select Tools>Text>Tags>Attach Tags.

Make sure to select the correct tag set (TITLEBLOCK_PW) from within the Attach Tags dialog box.

NOTE – Tags are placed in a file using the last text style used. If you want for the tags to be a specific text style you will need to use the text tool to set the desired text before attaching the tags.

When prompted, select the border frame anywhere.

In the Attach Tags [TITLEBLOCK_PW] dialog you have a chance to rename the Value shown in the cell as well as control Display of the individual tags.

Place the tags on the drawing near the title block area.

Drag the tags to the desired location on the title block. If you want tags for the title as an example, to be different from the other tags use the text tool to set the text style, then execute the attach tags a second time and only use the desired tags and delete the rest.

Exit the DSzeBorderSheet file.

Creating an Environment and Attributes in ProjectWise

Creating new Environment and Attributes

Launch ProjectWise Administrator and log into the desired project/datasource.

Right Click on the Environments node and from the menu select New>Environment.

From the New Environment wizard welcome page select – Next>.

From the Choosing environment select – Next> and accept the default.

From the Naming the environment type in OpenPlant and then pick Next>.

From the Selecting database table pick Next>.

From the Designing new table select Add...

Add the attributes naming them the same as the tags you created in the tag set TITLEBLOCK_PW. o Use VARCHAR Data Type for all character fields. o Set the length as required. o If a Data type is numeric, decimal, or number, in the Scale field, type the maximum

number of digits that can be stored to the right of the decimal place. o Pick Add to continue adding attributes or select OK to return to the Designing new table

dialog and continue on with the wizard.

From the Designing new table dialog select Next>.

From the Choosing environment settings dialog select Next>.

From the Finishing New Environment Wizard pick Finish.

Further Editing of the Attribute Properties

Continuing in ProjectWise Administrator pick the newly create OpenPlant environment tab and expand it to locate the attributes tab – OpenPlant>Attributes tab.

Right click on one of the attributes.

In the <attribute name> Properties dialog you can adjust the Access and set update values and other settings. An example might be to set a date attribute to be a system variable for date and control the format for the display of the actual date. You could also set the value for this attribute to only be updated when the value of another field is edited. Look at the figures below and note the settings for the Value Tab and Editing tabs for the drawn_by_date_pw attribute.

o Value tab – Update Value set to System variable $DATE$ and the radio button for Specific Attribute(s) are updated is checked on and this is set to have the attribute drawn_by_name_pw as a trigger for the date attribute.

o Editing tab – the Format string: field is set to date.

In the Format bindings page select Next>. Then click Finish to close the new attribute wizard.

Testing Environment and Attributes

Assigning the Environment to the ProjectWise folder

Launch ProjectWise explorer and log into the desired project/datasource.

Create a new folder for PID drawings and set the Environment on the folder to the new OpenPlant environment. THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE prior to creating files in a folder. This information and set up requirements are defined in the ProjectWise documentation and are not covered here.

Create a new file using the wizard and on the attributes tab for the new file fill in the attributes as required.

Launch OpenPlant PowerPID and open the new file and note that the title blocks are updated accordingly when the correct border is selected for the file (in this case – DSizeBorderSheet).

You can execute the following key-ins (or assign them to a function key for quicker access and execution) to control the editing of the attributes and updating of the file and the ProjectWise properties for the file:

o TITLEBLOCK MODIFY Loads the ProjectWise document properties dialog and allows for editing of the

attributes for the file. Upon saving the attributes/tags in the drawing will be updated.

o TITLEBLOCK UPDATENOW Updates the title block with information from ProjectWise.

o TITLEBLOCK UPDATEDMS Updates the DMS with changes made by directly editing the tags in OpenPlant

PowerPID.
