Tickets are available in the school office for $10, or will be $12 at the door. Please make your checks payable to FLS PTL.

SPRING PORTRAITS ARE IN AND HAVE BEEN HANDED OUT: If you want to keep the pictures, please follow the instructions inside the packet as to how to pay for what you want to purchase. Return any pictures you don’t wish to purchase, and any payments for pictures you are keeping, to your student’s teacher on or by Friday, April 3. Class pictures will hopefully be in and handed out this week. If you didn’t order one, and would like one, please contact the office. We have a limited few available for purchase; they are $12 each.

COMPUTER: Thanks to MJ&H Fabrication for being our first sponsor of a whole computer system; we appreciate your support! We are looking for additional sponsors to help upgrade our technology lab. If you would consider donating the cost of an entire computer, we estimate it to be $800 a piece with necessary programs and software. We are planning to have a plaque made that lists the names of all contributors and the number of computers that they sponsored. If you have a business or would like to contribute in memory or honor of a child, teacher, parent, or loved one, please stop by the office for the form and/or more information. Thank you for considering our request.

FLS FIRST ANNUAL GOLF TOURNAMENT! Are you a golfer and are looking for a fun opportunity to help First Lutheran? Maybe you're not a golfer, but would still like to support our students! If either (or both) of these opportunities appeal to you, we have a new event coming up! The first ever Cardinal Classic golf tournament will be held on Saturday, April 25, at Wentz Golf Course. All money raised will benefit the FLS technology and educational programs. Interested in participating in the 4 person scramble? Registration forms went home with the last 2 Chatters, and more are available in the office. You may sign up a team, or you may sign up as an individual. Are you wanting to support the school through a sponsorship? A sponsor form is also available in the office so that you can choose your level of giving. Remember, all levels of hole sponsorship is tax deductible! Need a little more incentive to get involved? For every $100 hole sponsor that your family secures, your name will be placed in a drawing to win a one-child enrollment fee waiver for the 2015-2016 school year. Let's get out, play a little golf, and help raise money for our students. You may contact the office if you have further questions.

SUMMER SKILLS WORKBOOKS: Studies show that much of what is learned during the school year is lost over the summer months. Summer Skills Review Books provide students with a review of materials taught the previous year, and can give them an academic edge and self-confidence when they return to school in the fall. Workbooks available include math and language arts for students in grades 2-5, or pre-algebra, algebra 1, geometry, or high school math books. If you would like to see an example, or would like to order a workbook(s), stop by the school office or visit the website www.summerskills.com. They are $18, and orders are due to the school office by May 1.

KAW NATION ENGAGING COMMUNITIES EVENT: April 25, 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. supported by a National Crime Victims’ Right Week Community Awareness Project. Activities include, among other things, a color run, kids activities, prize drawings, and a butterfly release. For more information, see the flyer on the bulletin board outside the school office.

PAYMENT OPTIONS: To make tuition and other payments a little less of a hassle, we take cash, checks, and credit cards. Additionally, if you desire, we can store your credit card number and run it weekly, monthly (on the 16th), or only when you call or email and request it. In these cases, we send your receipts home with your students. Auto-withdrawals are also available, where your specified amount is automatically drafted from your bank account on the 16th, and applied to the accounts that you designate. If you have any questions about any of these services, or would like to sign up for them, please stop by or call the school office at 580-762-9950.

YEARBOOK: If you haven’t purchased a yearbook yet for last school year, please stop by the school office; they are $20 each. Be gathering your pictures together for this years’ yearbook, we will be asking for them soon. Remember, the best way for your child to have pictures in the yearbook, is for you to submit pictures of them! We will send out instructions soon on the different ways to submit your photos for the yearbook.

PRINCIPAL – Mr. Birnbaum: Holy Week - We are closed this Friday as we remember the crucifixion of Jesus on the cross and closed again on Monday as we celebrate his resurrection from dead. He came to earth to live a perfect life for us. His resurrection from the dead shows God's acceptance of His perfect sacrifice and victory over sin, death, and the devil. We Win!

LIBRARY- 3rd Quarter AR Parties are here! 2nd-5th grade will be having an Easter party tomorrow at 1:00. Students are to bring 10-15 filled eggs. Parents who want to help hide eggs may meet us at the 5th Street Park at 12:30. You are also welcome to bring treats, and we will put out a table of goodies for them to snack on. Thank you, Christy Harland, for offering to supply drinks. We will also be playing some fun games as well.

Middle School AR Party will be Tuesday, April 7th. We will meet at lunch to go to Braum’s. Bring money or a lunch, and Mrs. Hamre will take care of your ice cream. Afterwards, we will split up into cars for a scavenger hunt around town.

Finally, I am working toward doing an inventory of the library in May. Anyone who might be interested in helping, please let me know.

PRE-SCHOOL – Mrs. Herard: We thank God for the beautiful weather this week as we plan for Easter parties;-our last parties of the year! Thank you room Moms for all the work you do for us and all the other moms and dads that helped to make our year fun and exciting! Our theme this week is "Easter" and we are focusing on the joy of the resurrection after the sorrow of the cross. Box top contest goes through April 15, so please help PS bring in the most box tops! The school auction is April 11 and you don't want to miss that! Be sure to turn in $ and forms for the field trip to Stillwater's Wondertorium. Due now! Congratulations to the Grace and Bodenstein families as they both welcome baby girls! Have a blessed and happy Easter.

The Wondertorium money and permission slips were due today. Please return those still out by tomorrow. Picture or picture money is due tomorrow. Our April book order is due to me or online by Friday, April 3rd. Our egg hunt/Easter party is tomorrow at 2:00. Please remember that each child needs to bring 12 plastic eggs filled with candy or small toys and a basket or bucket. We will have show and tell next Friday, April 10th. Our Bible words this week are, [Jesus said,] "Love one another as I have loved you." John 15:12 We are learning the letter "X" and reviewing numbers "1-5" this week. We will not have school on Friday or Monday. I hope you have a blessed week and a Happy Easter!

KINDERGARTEN - Ms. Miller: We have our Easter party on Thursday at 2:00 and everyone is welcome to come! The Auction is Saturday, April 11th and you can buy tickets in the office. The boys need to bring white paper napkins for the auction and the girls need to bring white styrofoam dessert plates. Thank you so much for helping with this! Our class would like to wish Tristan (4-1) and Alyssa (4-4) a happy birthday! Also, we would like to welcome our new student Jordyn Heitman to our class. We now have 10 boys and 9 girls! What an awesome class we have! We will have show and tell this Thursday the 2nd because we don't have school on Friday or Monday (Easter break). Have a great Easter vacation!

FIRST GRADE – Mrs. Birnbaum: Memory for Friday - 5th commandment. Please return your pictures or your payment for pictures by tomorrow. We will be having our Easter Egg hunt tomorrow at 2:00. Please bring a dozen stuffed eggs and an Easter basket. Parents are welcome to join us. Field trip forms and money were due today. Please turn in tomorrow if you have not done so yet. Each class has been asked to help with donations for action supplies. Please see the note I have included that tells what your child is to bring - thank you for your help with this! I pray that you each have a blessed Easter break and rejoice in our Risen Lord!

SECOND GRADE – Mrs. Powell: Blessed Holy Week Greetings! We are preparing our hearts and minds to remember Christ's sacrifice on our behalf. I pray that your Easter celebration will be filled with joy and that you include worship in your plans. You are always welcome to worship at First Lutheran. We're excited about our AR Easter party tomorrow afternoon. Thanks, Mrs. Hamre and all you parents who helped make it special. The book reports are great. Keep reading for 4th quarter AR. Memory work for tomorrow is 1 Timothy 4:12 and next week's memory is Psalm 23 (a copy is attached to this Chatter). Due to its length, a little practice each day will ensure your child's success. No spelling test this week! Enjoy your extra long weekend!

THIRD GRADE - Mrs. Steichen: Luke 24:34 (Simon Peter) saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and has appeared to Simon!” He has risen! I hope everyone has a great Easter weekend. Please remember no school on Friday or Monday. Blessings to Kate as she enters God’s family though baptism this weekend. This week: Memory: no work this week, but next Friday we will say Psalm 139:14 “I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know that full well.” Math: We had a test on Tuesday, and will have another next week. Please be practicing 4 times facts as they are due on Thursday. Book Report: If you have any questions please let me know. I do not mind doing some online research, but they need to at least read one book. IOWA Test: the countdown is on, we are continuing to work on test taking skills, and I think the kids are becoming more confident. Please let me know if you have any questions.

FOURTH GRADE - Mrs. Sibley: We are back into the swing of things after spring break. The AR Party is this Thursday, don’t forget your eggs! We have also received our eggs today that we will be hatching. The kids are really excited. We are already working on earning our AR goals for fourth quarter. I have seen many diligent students reading during every spare moment they have. Please continue to look at planners nightly; ask the kids what we did in school, and their assignments. We are working on becoming fifth graders!

FIFTH GRADE - Mrs. Schatte: Happy Easter! May we experience the joy of our living Savior as we mourn His death and celebrate the joy of His glorious resurrection. Tests this week include spelling, math, and reading tomorrow and social studies, test 8 today. Blessings to you and your family.

MIDDLE SCHOOL 4/9 Graduation Pictures for 8th Grade, 9:30 4/13-17 Cheer Tryouts, 3:30 – 4:30

4/13 Chisholm Track Meet 4/21 DCLA Track Meet

Dance – Mrs. Goll: Boy did we boogie! Thanks so much, Student Council, for the great effort in providing our luau

dance. Special thanks to the Jacksons, Warnecke’s, and Mrs. Burris for helping to chaperone. Extra special thanks to Max for being our DJ. Thanks, StuCo parents and students, for helping to clean up after the dance.

Mrs. Harbeson: Isn't the weather absolutely beautiful?! I hope you're enjoying it! I also hope that you're planning on attending church sometime this Easter weekend to celebrate Jesus rising from the grave. Without His sacrifice, we would never be able to be with God for eternity. Thank you, Father, for loving us so much! There is a lot going on at school right now. The spring dance was a great time for all. Thanks, Mrs. Goll and the Student Council, for making that happen. Track is also in full force. Our coaches this year are Mr. Redwine and Mrs. Jean. We appreciate both of you for your hard work and dedication. I'm sure you haven't forgotten, but remember that we are out of school for Good Friday and Easter Monday. Have a wonderful and blessed time with your family this weekend!

Mrs. Hanson: With the weather warming up please take a moment to refresh your memory over the school dress codes, especially in reference to shorts and tank tops.

Cheer Tryouts are open to all current 6th and 7th graders and will be held every day after school from 3:30-4:30, April 13-17. Mock tryouts, where parents can come and watch their child perform, will be Thursday at 3:30. "Real" tryouts will be Friday the 17th.

6th and 7th grade will quiz over current material this week. 8th grade is working on a huge research project over genetic disorders and advancements. This is due April 14. We

will work on a lot of it during class, but it will need to be worked on at home as well. Mr. Covert: March has flown by and we’re heading into April already! Things are moving right along here at First

Lutheran as well. In 8th grade, we’ve wrapped up the Frontier Era, ending with the Oklahoma Land Rush. We’ll start talking about

how the US’s isolationist policy ended and we became more involved in the affairs of the world in the late 1800’s and early 1900’s next. In 7th grade, we will finish up Europe this week. We’re going to go halfway around the world and take a look at Japan and Korea next. 6th grade wrapped up a chapter on the Vikings, and now we’re moving into the age of empires, beginning with the Byzantines.

I pray for God’s blessing on everyone as we begin Holy Week, remembering the sacrifice Christ made for us, and the fulfillment of God’s plan for us, mirrored in the empty tomb that was found on that first Easter so long ago. Blessings and peace to everyone in the name of Christ, our risen Lord and Savior!

Mrs. Goll: Easter Blessings! I pray that you have an especially joyous Easter as you remember the blessings our Savior has brought us. All math classes will test next week (Wednesday for most). Most of the students are bringing their best to class most days. Student effort makes all the difference in making progress in learning. So, keep up the good work, Students. Tomorrow is the last day to turn in a parent signature on homework to get extra credit. Next week students will be getting their first CK-12 assignment. Check my bulletin board for more information on that assignment. God bless you during this Holy Week and always.

First Lutheran Church & School—Growing up into Jesus, Reaching out with

Jesus, Walking together in Jesus

You’re throwing them away; We need them!

Did you know that First Lutheran gets money for every Box Top

that we send in? Like, real money. Hard, cold, cash…well, at

least a check! Be sure to tell grandparent’s, aunt’s, uncle’s,

neighbors, and strangers on the street to give you theirs! We

love it when they come in

already trimmed around the

dotted line, but if you don’t

have the time to cut out the

BoxTop, just tear off the whole

flap and send it in with your

kids. We appreciate your Box

Top donations!

When the heck is it?!

Saturday, April 11, 2015 in the First Lutheran Gymnasium (which you will have the opportunity to rename)!

What time shall the festivities begin?

5:30 to check things out, 6:00 to eat, and 6:30 to start bidding up your neighbors! (don’t just keep up with the Jones’...you must out-do them)

Whatever shall I wear?

Any old thing. Since it’s Yummy Bar-B-Que, boots and jeans are Great; however, if you wanna wear an evening gown or tux, we’ll probably let you in. (and you may very well find yourself new fancy duds for next year)

Who may come?

Any adult who wants to purchase a ticket. They are sold in the school office: $10 in advance/$12 at the door. Advance tickets will be sold through Thursday April 9, 2015. (Ladies, I know it’s a stretch, but in this instance you will need to concede that your husband is an adult...you are going to need his wallet.)

Why aren’t my kids invited?

Frankly, my dear, because we’ll have more fun without ‘em! (and we may very well be inclined to auction them off, so for their safety...)

Where do the proceeds from the evening go?

Without the proceeds from previous auctions, you literally wouldn’t have the floor under your feet, the roof over your head, or the playground equipment outside! (Who are we kidding? It’s hush money, what happens at FLS auction, stays at FLS auction)

Why should I come?

Because all of the “cool” people from FLC&S will be there, so you know we’re bound to have a good time, and provide much needed funding for the school at the same time!! (Plus, you need to make sure you don’t get nominated to be next year’s auction chair)

I have little kids at home, and DHS said I shouldn’t leave them alone; what’s a parent to do?

We will have Fabulously Responsible people available in the Day Care Building to entertain your darlings and feed them PIZZA! (There will be a

free-will donation to thank the caregivers for their service. And there’s PIZZA!)

How do I go about purchasing a ticket?

Fill out the form below, attach your check, and send it with your child to school or bring it by the office yourself, to ensure you get your tickets before they run out! (unless, you prefer to pay full price...hey we are OK with that, too!)

Return this form to the First School Office on or before Friday, April 10, 2015

I would like to purchase: ______ Adult tickets x $10 each = ______ (enclosed)

Please send the tickets home with my child :__________________________________in ________________class.

_____YES!! My _______(#) child(ren) will be eating PIZZA in the Day Care Building during the Auction!
