Be sure to stick around and have the kids eat lunch while you are here; 18 and under eat free!

MRS. STEICHEN WILL BE OUT THIS FRIDAY, AS SHE GRADUATES WITH HER MASTERS DEGREE IN EDUCATION! We can only imagine how difficult it was to achieve this while teaching full time with a toddler at home and a spouse working shift work, but you did it! Congratulations!

SUMMER LUNCH PROGRAM: First Lutheran School will be participating in the summer lunch program again this summer. Children age 18 and under will be provided a free lunch in the FLS Cafeteria Monday through Friday, from 11:00 to 12:30, June 1 to August 7, 2015, closed July 3, 2015. If you’re getting together with friends over the summer, consider stopping in here for lunch and supporting the lunch program! The USDA and First Lutheran School are equal opportunity providers and employers.

WE WON! Thanks to school family participation in the YMCA Healthy Kids Day event, First Lutheran School was one the of the Top 3 schools to have the most children participate in the 2K family fun run/walk. MATHCOUNTS: Calling all Mathletes! We hope to have a full MathCounts Team next year. Please join us on

Wednesday, May 13, after school in the math room for a recruitment party. We’ll play some math games, have treats, and do drawings for some prizes.

Mrs. Harbeson: Happy Day! I hope you all are doing well! It's getting close! Just a few more weeks left of the school year, and we have a TON of activities going on... 8th Graders, are you ready for our trip to Stilly on Friday? It's supposed to rain but we're not going to let that stop us! I'll be sending home an itinerary today to let you know the details. Parents who are going with us, thanks so much for getting us there and back! Without you, we couldn't do these trips. Please be sure that the office has a copy of your car insurance. Everyone, please check out my website [email protected] and your student's class announcements and assignment pages. I'm offering extra credit all over the place! I will be attending my final Tec21 class on Thursday, and Jackie Burden will be my substitute. The kids love her and so do I! She's the best! That's all for now. All your hard work now will pay off later. Keep plugging away and remember that if you're feeling a little overwhelmed and stressed out, you're always welcomed to come scream in my closet! (with my permission, of course!) Blessings!

Mrs. Hanson: Tomorrow, May 7, is National Day of Prayer and 7th grade is hosting a special ceremony at 8:30 am. All classes have prepared a special prayer. Please join us and the nation in a special day of prayer!!! All classes will have a science final the last Thursday of the school year, May 21. We will review that week, but studying will need to be done at home.

7th grade has been asked to bring individual bags of Doritos for the race for life by May 14. Normally 7th grade helps serve graduation dinner. However with the small 8th grade class and large 7th grade

class, not all students will be needed, so we are asking for just 5-6 parents and students to help serve and clean up, no decorating or planning. Please contact me if you are willing and able or I will need to just volunteer a few families.

Mr. Covert: With the track meet over, we’re in the stretch run of the school year. We’re going to start skipping around a bit to hit the high points of each class before the end of the year.

In 8th grade, we’re focusing in World War I. We’ll take a day or so to look at the 1920’s before we talk about the Depression and World War II. In 7th grade, we’re wrapping up a chapter about Oceania, and will next take a look at China and the surrounding areas. In 6th grade, we’re finishing up a chapter on the Middle Ages. Next, we’ll focus on the Crusades and the Renaissance.

7th grade parents, we’re still looking at Monday, May 11th at 6 PM for our first DC meeting. It will be held in the Middle School social studies room. We’ll take a look at the costs and a sample itinerary, and get most of the basics out of the way.

May God bless us as we continue in this Easter season, and as we near the end of the school year! Mrs. Goll: Thanks, Mr. Redwine and MANY volunteers, for a great track meet on Friday. What fun to watch

our kids use their athletic talents at that very exciting day! And, thank you, Students, for all the goodies for Teacher Appreciation Week. In math, we are continuing to try to work hard and learn the most we can before our well-deserved summer rest. Please ask your child what he is studying in math and in all his/her subjects. Keep on keeping on, Students!
