4 Growing up Into Jesus, Reaching Out with Jesus, Walking Together in Jesus

MIDDLE SCHOOL Mrs. Goll: Math classes are all testing over chapter two this week or early next week. We’re beginning to see

more “late work”. Students can be ready for class if they use their planners, ask for help as needed, and really work on “focus”. If your student has a focus problem, please do the following: watch his diet and sleep habits, limit his screen time (whether it’s the phone, the TV, or a gaming device), and when he does homework at home, encourage him to get all supplies gathered and then stay seated and on task until the homework is completed. Some students will drag a 10 minute assignment into an hour because they allow themselves to use any excuse to keep from the task at hand. If he does not understand the lesson, encourage him to reread the examples in the book, to look at the problems we did together in class, and to call me or a classmate if he’s still stumped.

Family Fun Night – Mrs. Goll: I hope to see all of you here tomorrow evening for a great time. Thanks to those of you who have volunteered to help with our karaoke booth and to those who have already sent their box of Fun Dip.

LUTHERHOMA – Mrs. Goll: Lutherhoma is next week. I have almost all enrollment forms and checks for $100. It’s not too late to turn those in. I’ll send home additional information on Monday listing drivers, riders, and chaperones. We always enjoy our time at camp. Thanks to all of you who have indicated you can help with this event. I did send home a request for cookies. If you can send three dozen with your student on Wednesday that will help us with dessert for camp meals.

Have a blessed week. Mrs. Harbeson: I hope you're all doing well. Please forgive me for not having my webpage up and going last

week. We sure have a busy two weeks coming up! Here are a few highlights...mid-quarter is today. (Crazy, huh?!) Family Fun Night is this Thursday evening. Please check your class announcement page on my webpage to see what we need your student to bring. No school for the students this Friday! The teachers are attending a convention in Midwest City. Join us for church this Sunday as Tom and Peg Ramsey will be here from Florida! Pastor Ramsey was the former pastor at First Lutheran and Peg taught middle school math. Pastor will be giving the message this Sunday for church. The 8th grade class will be attending their Washington D.C. trip from September 20-25. The 7th grade class will be attending the Zoo Snooze September 24-25. The 6th grade class will be attending Camp Lutherhoma September 23-25. See? I told you there was a lot going on! Please be sure to keep up with your assignments. Handing assignments in on time will ensure better grades! Have a blessed week!

Mrs. Hanson: 6th Grade is chuggin' along with atoms. We are going to be wrapping up the basics and testing soon, probably the week after Lutherhoma.

7th Grade is identifying minerals and will take an unknown mineral quiz by the end of the week. 7th grade is responsible for the food at Family Fun Night which is THIS THURSDAY! A sign-up sheet is on my website. Any hours you work will be fundraising for you D.C. trip. Every 7th Grader needs to sell meal tickets and bring 1lb cooked taco meat and 1 LARGE bag of shredded cheese.

8th Grade has expanded their exploration from insects to arthropods, ask you student what the difference is between the two. The bug project will be due Oct. 6.

Mr. Covert: We’ve hit the middle of the quarter at FLS! We’ve had a good start to the year and I’m looking forward to the progress we’ll make after seeing these first few weeks!

In 8th grade, we’re discussing the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution prior to taking our trip to DC. In 7th grade, we’re going to finish up the Eastern half of the United States before we have a break for field trips. 6th grade is still discussing Egypt, but we’re reaching the end of that particular era of history before we jump to another early civilization.

I pray that God blesses us all richly as we continue to do everything to the glory of His name!
