BURGLARIES: OPPORTUNISTS EVEN BYPASS ELECTRIFIED FENCES
Crime on the rise
AVRIL FILLIES
O
ver the past two weeks police have
seen an upsurge in crime in Loeven-
stein and Welgemoed, and residents
are concerned that criminals are getting
bolder than ever to enter their homes and
steal their valuables.
When you have an electric fence around
your property, you believe that you are pro-
tected from crime. But nowadays criminals
know a way to bypass that. To top it all they
do this while you are sleeping. Imagine the
consequences if onewouldwakeupwith one
of these perpetrators next to you, says Ma-
jor Fienie Nimb of the Bellville police.
People should double-check that their
alarms are armed, listen to what their bark-
ing dog is telling them, and call the police
and the armed response if they see or hear
anything that seems out of place, she says.
The tendency is to break into the houses
late at night or in the early morning while
the owners are asleep. Burglars remove the
entire window not to set off the alarm and
steal mostly electronic items, warns Nimb.
Extra people have been deployed in the ar-
ea to help curb burglaries.
The past two weeks we also found that
cars that are parked in Loevenstein in front
of flats, are also targeted. The cars are
parked out in the open and are easily acces-
sible. We appeal to the public to remove all
items from their cars, whether they think it
is valuable or not. The criminals dont know
or care if it is valuable ornot theyll remove
it from your car anyway, says Nimb.
Nimb only has praise for the local neigh-
bourhood watches.
The cooperation between the police and
the neighbourhood watches in the greater
Bellville area is something to crow about.
We are lucky to have such good communica-
tion between us and that will bring success.
I cant stress the fact that we are in need
of patrollers for the different neighbourhood
watches more, and if you have time and
would like to volunteer, please contact
them, says Nimb, who also congratulated
the Welgemoed Neighbourhood Watch pa-
trollers who stood up and mobilised them-
selves to assist the Crime Prevention Unit.
They patrol every night and do observa-
tions. The days for criminals in our area are
getting short. They always get caught be-
cause our force is strong, says Nimb.

T
he contract of all Study Xpress tutor
centres was cancelled last week by the
curriculum supplier Impak due to ill
payment and several recent unsettling
events at StudyXpress centres and thenega-
tive impact they could have on your childs
education, parents at Study Xpress in Dur-
banville were notified in a letter from Im-
pak.
The doors of Study Xpress in Durbanville
and Tokai were closed overnight about two
weeks ago by the owners, Ivan Grobler and
his wife, Chantelle, leaving 115 learners
without a school.
This came after all their tutors resigned
at once after they have not been paid for
three months and several allegations of ill
conduct.
Their lease agreement for the building on
the corner of De Villiers Drive andWelling-
ton Road has been cancelled, while several
charges of fraud against Study Xpress are
being investigated by police.
Impak has also instituted collection steps
against Study Xpress for outstanding funds
of about R200 000.
Despite all this, TygerBurger was told
that Grobler last Friday enquired about the
letting of a premise in Durbanville. He in-
troduced himself as the owner of Study
Xpress, according to a source.
The closure of Study Xpress left many
parents in the lurch. They are desperately
trying to find other schools for their chil-
dren.
Others were shocked to find that their
children have never been registered with
the Western Cape Education Department
(WCED) and that there are no records of
them on the system at all.
In terms of the Schools Act every child
under the age of 16 must be registered as a
home education learner with the WCED.
One dismayed parent found that her
daughter was behind in her school work to
such an extent that she was put in a lower
grade at another school.
It was also found that in many cases no
money that was paid to Study Xpress was
paidover to Impak thusno recordsof those
students exist either.
One of these parents is now claiming
R15 000 in the Bellville small claims court
to recover her costs.
According to the mother she will get a
court date on Wednesday 1 June.
She said she paid R8 000 in October last
year for registration and text books, but her
two children only received their text books
way into the new year.
Her daughter only received her text book
for tourism two days before she took her
daughter out of Study Xpress on Friday 6
May. According to the mother, who wants
to stay anonymous, she also paid R6 000 per
month for her childrens
tutoring since 31 Decem-
ber.
But now, at their new
tutoring centre, to which
they must drive from
Durbanville to Somerset
West every day, they
were found to be so be-
hindwith their work that
they now need extra tu-
toring at R1200 per day
for three hours for both.
Also, it seems that
Study Xpress never regis-
tered herGrade 10 daugh-
ter for either tourism or
computer applications
technology with Impak,
although she paid for
those subjects.
They (the new tutor
centre) want my daugh-
ter to quit consumer stud-
ies, because she had not
done any of the practical
work at all, while her ap-
titude tests indicated that
she must follow a career
in the consumer indus-
try. They never did any
practical work. I was
promised that an oven was bought, but that
it must just be installed. This was all a lie.
I even offered that the children can do their
practical work in my own kitchen.
Her son inGrade 11 had towrite his infor-
mation technology and computer applica-
tions technology examinations in March
while he never received any tutoring in any
of the subjects due to the absence of a tutor.
Our lives are so disrupted by this; I shall
never forgive them for what they have done
to my children, she said.
This is one of at least four claims pending
at the small claims court TygerBurger is
aware of.
Last Tuesday afternoon Grobler paid the
full claim amount of R6 676 less than an
hour before the hearing of a claim against
Study Xpress in the Bellville small claims
court.
RenHerbst, a former tutor and one of the
parents who originally blowed the whistle
on Study Xpress, claimed back the deposit
she paid in September last year, as well as
the first instalment. She took her child out
of Study Xpress on Wednesday 3 February.
Grobler briefly appeared in court, where-
after the commissioner of the court dis-
missed the case, said Herbst.
Two more parents claim amounts of re-
spectively R4 107 and R12 600 for registra-
tion and tuition fees paid while the tutor
centrewas found to be operating illegally by
the WCED. A court date must still be an-
nounced.
In the letter by Impak dated Tuesday 17
May, it was stated that as of today, Impaks
contract with all Study Xpress centres, as
currently registered under Ivan Grobler,
have been cancelled and suspended.
These centres will no longer be serviced
by Impak.
Impak offered parents, who want their
child to continue studying through Impak,
an interim arrangement for the remainder
of 2016 at a discount of 40% on the full year
package fee.
Germari Pieterse, chief financial officer
of Impak, confirmed that their agreement
with Study Xpress has been cancelled and
they have instituted collection steps.
Impak currently engages directly with
affected parents. Special arrangements to
accommodate these parents and learners
have been made to ensure as little disrup-
tion to the learners as possible.
Impak is in the process of reregistering
learners directly and without the interven-
tion of any third party such as this centre,
she said.
According to Julian Taylor, franchise
owner of the Study Xpress in Bellville, he
has cancelled his contract with Grobler and
will soon change the name of his tutor cen-
tre.
Grobler did not comment by the time of
going to press on any of the allegations. His
cell phone also seemed to be blocked for in-
coming calls, as it only gave an engaged
soundwhen phoned several times since last
week, while on WhatsApp it shows that he
is online, using his phone.
Study Xpress nullified
Ivan Grobler, managing director of Study Xpress, and his wife,
Chantelle, who is the principal.

Gedenkfontein is
Dinsdag 17 Mei by
die Bellville-polisie-
kantoor onthul ter ere van
wyle ao. Colin Batt, wat op
8 Desember 2014 aan diens
aan n hartaanval dood is.
Volgens sy lewensmaat,
Alida Botha van Bellville,
het Batt 28 jaar by die Bell-
ville-polisie gewerk en was
sy werk sy passie.
Die dag van sy dood was
hy nog besig om n bejaarde
tannie te help en het hy net
agteroor geval en is op slag
dood aan n hartaanval.
Jy kan jou indink watter
konsternasie die voorval
veroorsaak het; die parame-
dici is ingeroep en hulle het
probeer om hom by te bring,
maar dit was te laat.
Een van die polisielede
het my kom haal, maar ek
was te laat en kon nie eens
n laaste woord vir hom s
nie. Hy wou nooit hoor dat
hy n goeie polisieman iswat
die publiek met empatie en
simpatie behandel het nie.
Moenie n fout maak nie
hy was streng wat sy werk
betref, en sy kollegas en die
publiek het hom respek-
teer, s Botha.
Ek sukkel nogomsydood
te verwerk, want hy was my
alles.
Voordat hy in my lewe gekom het, was
sal almal by Bellville-polisie aan hom herin-
ner. Hulle was die draers by sy begrafnis,
maar ek moet nog die moed bymekaar-
skraap omVishoek toe te gaan. Voordat ek
gentleman. Daar is klein dingetjies wat my
nog gedurig aanhomherinner,maar ek sal
daaroor kom. Ek hoop die gedenkfontein
sal die Bellville-polisie altyd aan hom her-
inner.
dit as niks afgemaak. Vir sy skofmaats was
sy twee uitstaande kenmerke dat hy liefde-
vol en ook n mens-mens was, het sy ges.

Family calling for accident witnesses
The family of the motorcyclist who
was killed at the intersection of Carl
Cronje and Frans Conradie drives in
Bellville on Friday 6 May is looking
for witnesses.
The late Kevin Visagie lived in
Durbanville. His wife, Marianna, and
daughters Shani and Zandri are
desperate for answers. When paramed-
ics arrived on the scene, two doctors
were performing CPR on the rider.
The paramedics assisted with ad-
vanced life support, but Kevin died. It
seems a truck collided with the rider
and dragged him for several metres.

rade 11 and 12 learners were playing
games such as Uno or 30 Seconds for
hours on end more or less the entire
school day at Study Xpress in Durbanville,
a former learner told TygerBurger in a let-
ter.
The 19-year-old girl, who is known to Tyg-
erBurger but wants to stay anonymous, said
in her letter she left school last year while
she was in matric after she was in an acci-
dent, andmissed a lot of school. She enrolled
at Study Xpress this year to complete her
matric, but left after a month after she was
disillusioned by the set-up. I was in a class-
room with ten other people, both in Grade
11 and 12, and they played 30 Seconds or Uno
for five hours.
Lunch break during test
On the third day of attending the school,
she was asked to write an Afrikaans test. I
was busy with it for about two hours, while
it was a one-hour test. While writingmy test
I was also told I could go on a lunch break
to just relax or play on my phone. I came to
school to work, not to play.
There were scheduled tests and if we de-
cided we werent ready we would tell the fa-
cilitator not today and it would be resched-
uled. We had two-hour lunch breaks in our
five-hour school day.
Whenwe applied, Iwas promised a teach-
er for each subject, who will physically
stand in the front of the classroom teaching
that it is not merely a situation where a
teacher iswatching over the class, she said.
Another year wasted
Her mother made the full payment of
R41 186 to Study Xpress on 22 February.
After about only two weeks mymom and
I had already seen their promises to be lies.
To be what I want to be when I leave school
I have to do pure mathematics, physical sci-

Residents of Durbanville and other inter-
ested people are now invited to attend an
information session about a proposal for
the public art concept in a R10 million
project to upgrade the Pampoenkraal out-
span to a heritage town square.
The information session is presented
on Thursday 2 June from 18:30 at the Dur-
banville town hall.
This came after a number of experi-
enced public art practitioners and artists
were invited by the City of Cape Town to
submit proposals for the public art con-
cept for Pampoenkraal. One of these pro-
posals, which complements the land-
scape design, has been identified as a pre-
ferred public art concept .
The upgrade of the strategic Pampoen-
kraal site and roll-out of the landscape
plan are continuing as planned.
The Pampoenkraal outspan is situated
between Voortrekker Road, Main Road,
Wellington Road and Church Street.
The site, which accommodates the
town hall, has a rich history, having
played an important role in the develop-
ment of Durbanville, originally known as
Pampoenkraal.
The City is monitoring progress, and
construction is still expected to be com-
pleted mid-January next year.
To date, the contractor has completed
clearing and grubbing activities and
most of the earthworks, and is currently
excavating in order to complete concrete
works such as stairs and slabs.

The cost of the upgrading of the Bellville
Civic Centre in Voortrekker Road, which is
currentlyunderway,will amount to approx-
imately R500 000 once completed.
Last week on Friday 20 May, Clive Justus
planted the last of the 24 roses as part of the
landscaping near the clock.
The cost estimation of the project was de-
termined after the facilities management
department of the City of Cape Town did a
thorough assessment of the Bellville Civic
Hall at the end of February to determine
what repairs andmaintenance needed to be
done. In a phased implementation plan, pri-
ority has been given to the safety aspects in-
side the hall.
The stabilisation of the theatre stage, re-
placement of flying bars and lighting, re-
pairs to the fire curtain and replacement of
all hoisting equipment were prioritised to
ensure compliance in terms of the Health
and Safety legislation.
Over theyears the ropesweredeteriorat-
ing and had to be replaced, said Justus,
chairperson of Subcouncil 6.
The lighting on stage was replaced with
energy efficient lights, and on 1 June all
electrical equipment will be connected. We
bought a generator and whenever there is
loadshedding or an outage, it wont affect
the power supply, he said.
The phase two upgrades will include the
refurbishment and interior decoration of
the theatre and toilets. The lighting and up-
holstery of the 750 seats will also receive at-
tention.
External improvements include land-
scaping, repairs to the clock tower and foun-
tain. Paving will be done in the new finan-
cial year and that includes the entrance to
the civic as well.
The fountain and the clock tower will be
revamped as part of the external improve-
ments.
A contractor was appointed on Friday 20
May to do the landscaping.

A
neglected border collie in the middle
of nowhere was the inspiration for a
fundraising cycling challenge over
480 km in less than 30 hours to raise
money for the sterilisation of animals.
A total of R30 000 was raised by the group
of 13 cyclists and four support drivers, all
from the northern suburbs, with the chal-
lenge of riding non-stop from Oudtshoorn
to Durbanville in under 30 hours all in aid
of Fisantekraal Animal Welfare (FAW).
The ride was organised by Durbanville
residentsNeil andBelinda vanTonder, also
the organisers of the popular Durbie Dash
cycling event, as part of FAWs tenth anni-
versary year.
Neil was inspired to organise the chal-
lenge by an experience hehadwhile partici-
pating in the seven-day Cape Pioneer.
In the middle of nowhere, we came
across a neglected border collie. I logged the
GPS co-ordinates and contactedBorderCol-
lie Rescue, who rescued him. I have never
forgotten this dog, he said.
VanTonder, also a regular volunteerwith
FAW for over two years, explained that the
sterilisation of dogs and cats in townships
is FAWsmain area of focus as it is the best
way to combat animal neglect and abuse in
the long-term.
She said: We, at FAW, would like to
thank each and every sponsor and donor,
the support drivers and especially the rid-
ers for their hard work. The difference this
is going to make is huge!

T
he construction of Cher Bothas new
school in Meerlust Street, Oak Glen,
Bellville is progressing well with most
of the earthmoving done and the laying of
foundations now in progress.
The planned completion date for the
project is April 2017 and the school is hoping
to move in during July next year.
Nick Davies, the chairman of the Project
Steering Committee, is thrilled with the
progress. As a parent and a member of the
Cher Botha SGB I cannot tell you how hap-
pywe all are about CherBothas newhome.
Our educators have really been battling to
run a school on three different remote sites.
To have a single location where we can all
be together in a customdesigned schoolwith
the correct facilities is incredibly exciting.
Tohavebeengiven this beautiful site in such
a lovely and friendly suburb is the cherry
on top. Our children are going to love it
here. Hewent on to say how grateful Cher
Botha is to their new neighbours who have
had to put up with a lot of inconvenience in
the early stages of the construction. The
heavy machinery and the sand have made
life quite unpleasant for our neighbours and
we would like to thank them for their pa-
tience and understanding. One positive as-
pect of the constructionwork is that the con-
tractors are required to use a certain per-
centage of the local labour force and anyone
interested in working on the project should
get in touch with Coenie Lourens, the com-
munity liaison officer.

LEWENSKIEKIE
Nou kan ek s
ek voel dit
saammet jou
So het my ma altyd haar kinders
vermaan. Let op die waarskuwingstekens
voordat jy iets aanpak.
As koerantmens moet ons gedurig
waarsku: Moenie oor daardie brug stap
nie. Wees versigtig as jy by daardie
kruising stilhou.
Weens n sameloop van omstandighede
moes ek vandeesweek oor n brug stap
in my rugsak en my beursie in my
gatsak.
Minute later is ek sonder my geld,
selfoon, trouring en die werk se kamera
nadat twee jongens my beroof het.
Het ek my ma se vuur-waarskuwing
verontagsaam? Het ek my verhewe
gehou bo die mense
wat elke dag
sonder keuse oor
di brug mt stap?
Of was dit n
geval van dit
gebeur net met
ander mense?
Ek het een keer
di aanhaling
gehoor: Dit sal
my verslaggewing daardie gevoel van
magteloosheid, weerloosheid en vrees
wanneer wildvreemde mense beslag l op
jou eiendom.
loop? Ja. Moes ek, by nabetragting,
eerder n ander roete gekies het? Jip.
Is my gevoel van veiligheid onder my
voete uitgeruk deur skermunkels wat net
op soek is na hul volgende fix?
In hierdie stadium sien ek almal as
verdagtes.
Maar ek hoop hierdie ervaring sal my
gevoel. Brenden Ruiter

interest, and agree wholeheart-
edly that the fraudulent use of
disabled parking bays must be
punished and the drivers fined
heavily.
I am a healthy, able-bodied
59-year-old. My husband and I
moved to Durbanville about a
year ago, with my 87-year-old
mother who suffers from
severe osteoporosis, and can
only walk if she wears a back
brace, uses her walking stick
and uses a shop basket trolley
for support.
She does not need to go out
often, as we provide all her
needs, but every now and then,
its just nice to see the world
outside her room, and this is
never for long, as she tires
quickly.
On recommendation of our
doctor, we applied for a
disabled parking disc when we
still lived on the Atlantic
Seaboard, and were granted it
twice. Her last licence expired
in March of this year, and we
have stopped using it, for fear
of getting a fine. A new
application was made at the
Durbanville Traffic Depart-
ment. We complied with all
requested documents, but our
application was denied. The

Recently the Voortrekker Road

(VRCID) advertised a vacant
post in TygerBurger. Via this
letter I would like to give some
sound advice to potential job
seekers on how to apply for a
job and make an impression on
the potential employer.
First of all, read the require-
ment of the post. For example,
if it says that you must not
submit more than five pages, do
not submit six pages. By doing
this it means you are not
following the set requirements.
Secondly, do not attach
certificates, copy of ID or any
other documentation if the
advert clearly says you should
not. Thirdly, if you are asked to
send a motivation letter as to
why you should be considered,
do research on the employer
and the specific needs they are

Die konsert vind op Sondag 5

Dennis sal die verhoog deel
met legendes soos Bobby Angel,
wat vanjaar sy 80ste verjaars-

James, Barbara Ray, Steve Hof-
meyr en Rocking Horse.
Die country-gunsteling
Manie Jackson, sowel as
nuwelinge Pieter Mohr
en Dee-Dee, sal ook te
sien wees.
Dennis keer vanjaar
terug na die Bakgat

hoog. Hy was twee jaar
gelede een van die groot
gehoorgunstelinge.
Hy belowe om van sy
grootste treffers soos
Take my Heart en

Almal vanhulle sal n

Dennis sing nie net in

help ook om die verto-
ning aanmekaar te sit.
Hy en Bakgat-Promo-

werk al jare saam. Den-
nis het by Christo se

Hierdie tipe vertoning ver-
dien n groot gehoor, vertel hy.
Jy moet die gehoor gee wat
hulle soek en daar is nie genoeg
soortgelyke produksies soos
Bakgat Country-opskop nie.
As liedjieskrywer, musikant
en vervaardiger weet Dennis
waarvan hy praat.
Hy is tans besig om vir die se-
wende keer n album vir Manie
Jackson te vervaardig en smet
trots: Al sy albums het goue
status bereik, van hulle het tot
platinum behaal.
Wanneer hy nie in sy Blue

is Dennis gereeld op verho

baie besig; daarvoor is ek baie
dankbaar.
Dennis maak al van die vroe

in 1974 sy eerste van baie tref-

die laat sewentigs by die rock-

Aanhangers sal bly wees om
te hoor dat daar dalk n paar

die toekoms beplan word.
Toe hy in 2006 saammet Steve

het Dennis vir sy Creedence
Clearwater Revival-keurspel
bekend geraak en di wat sy uit-
voering daarvan geniet het, kan
uitsien na n nuwe 18 minute

Non-stop, op sy nuwe album.
Hoewel Dennis nog aan die al-
bum werk, het hy reeds n titel
in gedagte: Still Breathing.
Al is dit met n suurstoftenk
en n paramedikus, spot hy.
Op n meer ernstige noot ver-
tel Dennis dat hy nog baie ener-
gie het as dit by optredes kom.
Ek hou steeds daarvan om
tussen die gehoor in te hard-
loop. My enigste versoek vir op-
tredes is vir n draadlosemikro-
foon sodat ek weg van die ver-
hoog af kan beweeg.
Ek kan nie net op een plek
stilstaan nie ek is mal oor die

ellville director Uga Carlini will be
in the spotlight nextweekwhen she
premiers her new film Alison the
Movie at the Encounters International
Film Festival.
Based on the book I have life: Alisons
Journey as told to Marianne Thamm, the
film tells the true-life story of Alison
Botha who was raped, stabbed and dis-
embowelled, but survived to rebuild her
life as an inspirational speaker.
The movie is also Ugas debut hybrid
feature film/documentary which sees
her tellingAlisons storyusingamixture
of fairy tale idiomandunflinching frank-
ness and putting real-life heroes from
that night alongside actors like another
Bellville local, Christia Visser who plays
a young Alison, Zak Hendrikz, De Klerk
Oelofse and Francois Maree.
Uga, from Towerkop Creations, spe-
cialises in female driven heroine stories
so there could be no higher honour for
her than to make her debut feature film
about one of South Africas most loved
heroines.
This is the first time Alison has ever
allowed cameras into her home, and Uga
not only tells the story of her brutal expe-
rience, but also shows the audiencewhat
she has done and become since.
With this in mind, Penguin, the pub-
lishers behind the top selling I have Life,
have partnered with the film team to re-
lease a film tie-in edition of the bookwith
a new chapter that also looks at Alisons
life since the books first publication in
1998.
Alison has already been dubbed a sto-
ry of monsters, miracles and hope.
While themoviewill enjoy its cinemare-

the first time at the Encounters Interna-

s the popularity of social media sites
and chat groups continues to grow, ex-
perts havewarned parents to be aware
of a growing trend in cyberbullying.
Speaking to parents during a recent public
meeting in Table View, Evan Booyens of Da
Vinci Forensics explains cyberbullying is
when someone uses the internet, cellphones
and other technological devices to send or
post text or images intended to hurt, embar-
rass, threaten, torment, humiliate or intimi-
date their victim.
He sayswhile cyberbullying is rampant in
countries like America, leading to various
emotional problems in teens and in some
cases suicide, South African teens were
slowly starting to feel the impact. Similar to
the old fashioned form of bullying, Booyens
explains various tactics such as gossip,
threats and trickery are used among chil-
dren. Howeverwhen online these tactics are
amplified as the bullies can now torment
others anonymously.
In the online space, he says, new tactics
are used andmost disturbing is the creation
of fake social media profiles. Here the bully
creates a Facebook page or any other form
of social media account and poses as their
victim, placing embarrassing or false posts.
In South Africa the most commonly used
social media site is Facebook and Booyens
says inmost cases girls are the perpetrators.
There are various reasons children do
this. They include revenge, power, enter-
tainment, stupidity or problems at home.
Booyens says the effects on the victim
range from sadness and anxiety to depres-
sion, anger and in some cases, suicide.
So why is cyberbullying so hurtful? Be-
cause in a digital age, bullying is not fleet-
ing.
According to international studies, 92.6%
of teens say cruel behaviour takes place on
Facebook. Booyens says those same studies
indicate that 65.8% of teens responded to
their bullies of which 35% where personal
confrontations.
The stats show that 15.4% of children
avoided school and 4.5% of them have been
in a physical fight with their bully. What is
interesting, is that of those teens only 10%
of parentswere aware ofwhat their teenwas
going through.
Booyens says while South African teens
were not as hard hit by cyberbullying, its
important for parents to be aware of the po-
tential dangers. It wont take that long for
our children to be hit hard by this and its
already happening on Facebook. There are
some simple ways to help prevent it.
First on the list is for parents to have their
childrens social media passwords. He says
while teens will complain about their priva-
cy being violated, it is important for parents
to have access tomonitor their interactions.
He says parents should encourage their chil-
dren to speakup if they are being bullied and
should be taught how to block their bullies
from their social media accounts.

gedurende 2016 tot 450 000, s
Faurie.
Omdat potensile pleegouers
worstelmetheelwatvraeoorpleeg-
sorg, verhinder dit hulle om hul-
self as pleegouers beskikbaar te
stel, meen sy.
Dit is een van die redes waarom
HelpendeHanddiewebbladgeskep
het waar hierdie vrae beantwoord
kan word.
Voornemende pleegouers of per-
sone wat hul woning as plek van
veiligheid wil beskikbaar stel, kan
op hierdie webblad registreer om
hulself sodoende beskikbaar te stel
vir pleegsorg. Hul gegewens word
voorts aan die onderskeie geregi-
streerde kinderbeskermingsorga-
nisasies versprei, wat die keu-
ringsproses hanteer, s sy.
In dieWes-Kaapword n groot te-
kort ervaar aan pleegouers en ge-
sinne wat hul wonings as plek van
veiligheid in n krisis kan aanbied.
Daar is tans slegs 29 330 pleegou-
ers geregistreer in di provinsie
waar middelmisbruik hoogty vier.
nie. Hoewel Helpende Hand nie
oor die statutre magte beskik om
kinders in pleegsorg te plaas nie, is
hulle vanwe hul betrokkenheid
by armoede onder wit mense be-
wus van gebreke in die stelsel.
Die webblad www.pleeg-
sorg.co.za verduidelik in diepte
wat pleegsorg behels en bied n uit-
eensetting van die regte van die
pleegouer, biologiese ouers en die
pleegkind.
Pleegsorg behels dat n kind by
gekeurde pleegouers geplaas word
nadat hy of sy deur die kinderhof,
ingevolge die Kinderwet, as sorg-
behoewend bevind is, verduidelik
Faurie. Redes vir die verwydering
van kinders uit ouerlike sorg hou
verband met onder meer fisieke,
seksuele of emosionele mishande-
ling; fisieke of emosionele ver-
waarlosing; ernstige gesinskonflik
en gesinsgeweld; alkohol- en
dwelmmisbruik deur die ouers; en
onstabiele maatskaplike funksio-
nering. Al die nodige inligting oor
die proses is by www.pleeg-
sorg.co.za beskikbaar.

sorg.co.za of SMS pleegsorg na 38969

fonds te skenk.

ir baie vroue is Huis Jabes, n veilige
soms selfs sover as van Namibi, by di
jaar gelede deeltyds as n maatskaplike wer-
ker by di toevlugsoord werk.
Volgens Smith dra die huidige swak eko-
nomiese tye beslis by tot n toename in ge-
inwoners, vanwievyf vroueen sewekinders
is.
aggressief of verbaal aggressief en blameer
die vrou.
Waar daar n geskiedeniswas van gesins-
geweld, soos as die man self in s n huis
grootgeword het, of as daar voortdurend
konflik of middelafhanklikheid is, dra dit
dikwels by tot gesinsgeweld ook toestande
soos depressie en bipolre gemoedstoe-
stand, s sy.
Kinders neemhierdie gesinsgeweldwaar
en in 98% van die kinders wat geassesseer
is, manifesteer sulke kinders ook met erge
konflikgedrag.
swanger. Baie beland in verkeerde verhou-
