1.0 PACKAGE DESCRIPTION RELEASE Radiological Record
Request and Justification:
Upgrade HVAC system in 609J Air Compressor Room to accommodate additional heat load.
Two existing air compressors (40 HP and 75 HP) will be removed from 609J Air Compressor Room and replaced with two new 75 HP water cooled air compressor. Because one of the air compressors is larger than the original design, there will be additional heat generated. The existing HVAC system is not capable to meet the new cooling demand requirements for the compressor room, therefore the upgrade of the HVAC system is required.

Change Description and Scope:
This FMP upgrades the HVAC system for 609J Air Compressor Room.
Mechanical work:
Remove the existing HVAC unit, concrete pad, all exterior and interior ductwork, and thermostat as shown in INFO-01.
Pour a new concrete pad in the approximate location shown in DWG-04 - DWG-05. Field verify the exact location of the concrete pad and HVAC unit. Concrete pad shall be in accordance with sections "25 ton HVAC Unit Concrete Pad", and "Section D" found in DWG-04. Install new Trane 25-ton HVAC unit (model # TSH300G4R0AA3L) onto the new concrete pad and label as "AC-1". Install a new thermostat for the new HVAC unit in the approximate location the previous thermostat was located.
Install new rectangular exterior and interior ductwork as shown in DWG-02 through DWG-04. New rectangular ductwork must be 22 gauge Aluminum with 2-inch internal duct liner in accordance with ASTM C1071 and NFPA 90B. Maximum spacing of ductwork support is 5 ft. for horizontal and 10 ft. for vertical ductwork. Install new supply air grilles as shown in DWG-02 and DWG-03. Supply and return air grilles are to be Titus or engineering approved equivalent.
Exterior supply ductwork shall enter the building through the existing wall penetration. Existing wall penetration must be modified to compensate the size of the new ductwork.
Electrical Work
In panel "MP-609J" remove the existing 50A circuit breaker located in circuits 2, 4, 6, and replace with a new 70 Amp breaker. Remove the existing 60 Amps disconnect servicing the existing 17.5 ton HVAC unit and all the associated conduit and conductors up to the pull box. Pull box shall be reused in the new installation.
Note: wire to the 3-ton heat pump is also in the same conduit as the 17.5 ton. In new installation, reuse this wiring as no changes are made in the 3 ton unit.
Install a Square D safety disconnect model number HU363RB or engineering approved equivalent 100A non-fusible disconnect

on the outside wall of building 609J near the new HVAC Unit "AC-1" (Approximate location of disconnect shown in DWG-06). Label the new disconnect as "DS-AC-1 fed from Panelboard MP-609J circuit 2, 4, 6".
Field route one new 1 1/2" minimum conduit and run 3#4 THHN copper conductors and 1#8 copper ground from "MP-609J" circuit 2, 4, 6, to safety disconnect "DS-AC-1". Field position safety disconnect as needed. Field route one new 1 1/2" minimum flex conduit running 3#4 THHN copper conductors and 1#8 copper ground from "DS-AC-1" to the new HVAC unit "AC-1" mounted on the concrete pad. See DWG-06 and DWG-07 for more detail on the conduit/conductors.
Install permanent labeling to all new equipment and its associates components.

3.0 DESIGN REQUIREMENTS
Electrical modifications shall be in compliance with NFPA 70, National Electrical Code, 2017 Edition. All electrical components shall be approved by a National Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL).
New HVAC unit installation shall be in compliance with manufacturers' recommendations, authority having jurisdiction, and current codes and standards including:
-SMACNA Standard for ductwork installation, 2016 Edition-International Mechanical Code, 2015 Edition-ASHRAE 62.2, 2016 Edition-NFPA 90A, 2015 Edition
Air balancing per current SMACNA HVAC system, testing, adjusting and balancing.
MSC-PRO-ENG-709, Rev. 2 - CAD and Drawing Development and control process for Engineering.
4.0 ACCEPTANCE CRITERIA and METHODS
