The 16th annual Wheeling for Healing bike ridebenefitting the Cancer Care Center at Froedtert HealthCommunity Memorial Hospital, Menomonee Falls, willbe held Saturday, Aug. 10.

In addition to raising money for the hospitalsCancer Care Center, Wheeling for Healing honors andcelebrates the many cancer patients who have com-pleted or are undergoing treatment. Craig McKee,evening news anchor from WISN TV, will return as this

years ride marshal. The post-ride celebration begins at9:45 a.m. with brunch, entertainment, raffles, gamesand more.

Choose from four routes through Menomonee Fallsand Germantown including a family-friendly 4-mileroute, a 15-mile route for more ambitious riders or amore challenging 32-mile route. New this year, theevent will offer a 62-mile bike route for avid cycliststhat continues north to Jackson with a rest stop atFroedtert Health St. Josephs Hospital in West Bend. Allroutes begin and end at Community Memorial Hospitalin Menomonee Falls.

The Germantown High School Warhawkand Boosters will host its 11th Annual Golfuting on Monday, Aug. 26, at Scenic Viewountry Club, 4415 Club Drive, Slinger.

Sign-in for the popular community eventegins at 10 a.m., with a shotgun start following11 a.m. Golfers of all ability levels will play 18

oles in a scramble format and enjoy lunch dur-

ing their round. At 4:30 p.m., participants willgather at the clubhouse for dinner, an awardspresentation, raffles, and a performance by theGermantown High School Wall of Sound march-ing band.

Golf, lunch, dinner, drink tickets and enter-tainment are included in the $80 fee; however,an option to attend the evening dinner and enter-

tainment portion only is available for $25. Theregistration deadline is Aug. 12.

The event is one of the organization's pri-mary fundraising activities, garnering much ofthe financial support needed to run the highschool's band programs for the upcoming year.Funds raised are used to purchase uniforms,equipment, instruments and lockers, as well as

A blood drive will be held at theenomonee Falls Public Library, W1568436 Pilgrim Rd., from 10:30 a.m. to30 p.m. Aug. 9.

This drive is particularly important nowecause the Red Cross has issued an emer-

gency blood donation request after therewas a significant decrease in the month ofJune, blood dri ve organi zer Emi lySuetholz said in an email. The Red Crosshad a 10% decrease in the number ofblood donations throughout the month ofJune, and they received about 50,00 0 lessdonations then they had expected. To giveyou an idea about what these numbersmean, on average of about 44,000 blood
