The Sussex Village Boardapproved several items July 28related to the development of landthat previously was the location of Marchese's Danceland.

The onetime building forMarchese's Danceland is locatedat W249N6424 Hwy 164. Theboard approved a certified surveymap for the site, subject to thedeveloper entering into a develop-er's agreement with the village forhow the property will be devel-oped. Payment of fees and removalof the existing building are condi-tions of the approval.

The approval of a certified sur-vey map creates a lot for a TacoBell, a lot for a bank and stormwa-ter outlot. The remaining lands inthe 8.9 acre property would be fur-ther divided in the future for otheruses.

The board also approved arezoning, adding a PlannedDevelopment Overlay District to theexisting B-2 Regional BusinessDistrict. According to informationprovided to village staff, the prop-erty is owned by Concord PropertyManagement LLC. In a March 3 let-ter to the village, Jahnke & Jahnke

Associates state that in addition tothe Taco Bell and a possible bank,a Kwik Trip gas station is also beingconsidered for one of the lots.

The board also approved achange in the village ordinancesdealing with signage. The changesadjusts the requirement for drive-through facilities from no more than6 feet in height and width to nomore than 75 square feet in sizebut not to exceed 10 feet in height.

Also at the meeting, the boardapproved a resolution awardingthe sale of $3.325 million in bondanticipation notes, which will be forthree years. The notes are part of the financing for the village's sixthtax incremental finance (TIF).

Financial consultant DaveAnderson told the board that threebids were received for the bonds, with the best bid coming fromBOSC out of Dallas, which has a1.289 percent interest rate. He saidthe village anticipated a 2 percentinterest race, and the lower interestrate will save the village $118,000.Anderson added that after thethree-year financing is completed, the village will take out more per-manent financing for the TIF 6

    work."We're very pleased with the

results," Anderson said. -By Thomas J. McKi llen,

PET OF THE WEEK This is Dexter...he's not like other dogs because he has a mild

form of Vestibular Disease. In other words, his head tilts in anadorable way. Dexter came to us with a serious ear infectionwhich has been successfully treated. He likes to play, go for walks, and watchthe world go by. He's rather vocal when he sees other dogs and "sings" loudly toget their attention. He is in no pain, requires no special care, and has a normallife expectancy. He has no idea that he is "different." Since most people don'tknow about Vestibular Disease, dogs or cats like Dexter aren't always given achance. But not here at WCHS. He would do well in a household with gentlechildren 8 years and up and tolerant dogs that will tolerate his exuberantgreetings. No cats in his new home. They are way too fun to chase! In true Beagle

fashion, Dexter is an excellent "singer" at times. No apartments or condos for ourstud muffin please. One look at his cute tilted head, loving brown eyes, andcomical personality might have you swooning. So get to know Dexter and spendsome time with him...he just might be one of the best dogs you've ever had!

The 7th Annual "Stepping Out to CureScleroderma" walk in Germantown, will beheld on Sunday, Aug. 16.

This annual walk raises money for theScleroderma Foundation, GreaterChicago Chapter, which provides support, education and research for sclerodermapatients. Scleroderma is a chronic, oftenprogressive, autoimmune disease in whichthe immune system attacks its own body. The disease can cause thickening and tight-

ening of the skin. In some cases it causesserious damage to internal organs includ-ing the heart, lungs, kidneys, esophagusand gastrointestinal tract. These organsmay slowly harden until they become inef-fective. Some treatments can help with cer-tain symptoms, but there is still no cure forscleroderma. The disease affects three tofour times as many women as men.

"Some friends and I started thisfundraiser six years ago after a childhoodfriend had passed away from the diseaseand my best friend from high school hadbeen diagnosed," said Michele Fuchs,

Senior Account Executive for EntercomMilwaukee and Stepping Out to CureScleroderma committee member. "We’revery pleased with the community supportwe’ve received. Last year was our bestyear ever with 400 walkers and we’re hop-ing to get even more people to the walkthis year!"

The walk will take place at KinderbergPark, N104W14942 Donges Bay Road,Germantown. Registration will start at 7:30

a.m. and the walk will begin at 9:00 a.m.The event will take place rain or shine. Thecost is $20 per walker. Children under 12walk for free. Drs. Richard and Bruce Winter

Dear Dr. Winter, I am looking for someone to fix mysmile. I worry that a basic dentist won’t be able to make mysmile look like a million bucks! I LOVE smiling and

laughing and my bridge is 20 years old. It is discolored andthe teeth have always been too square looking. I havechipped the porcelain and several dentists have tried gluingwhite fillings on to the chip but they only last a week ortwo! I live in a small town in Wisconsin and don‘t wish tosee a dentist near me. I would love your opinion. Thankyou! Ann B.

Dear Ann, I am glad you found us on your internetsearches and were impressed with our work. We do helppatients with complex dental work and perform everythingfrom full mouth rehabilitation to implant reconstructions. The bridge you describe sounds like it needs to be replaced. We will look at the status of the underlying teeth, the healthof your gums and discuss all the options that are availableto you. Bridgework is subjected to thousands of chewingcycles and over time porcelain may chip or cracknecessitating remaking the bridge. Please come in for acomprehensive examination and x-ray visit and we wouldbe happy to discuss your particular situation. We certainlywelcome anyone with old crowns, chips on their crowns orbridges or an overall lack of satisfaction with their dental

work to call us and come in for a comprehensiveexamination appointment.Dear Dr. Winter, I recently read your article on Bulimia

on your website: www.hamptondentalassociates.comTHANK YOU for addressing such a devastating illness. I

had suffered with Bulimia for 7 years and had experiencedthe thinning enamel, the sensitivity and pain that youdescribed. Because of your expertise and caring attitude Ihad the courage to face this illness and receive the treatmentyou prescribed. I couldn’t be happier with my smile! I domodeling and have now gotten back the confidence to smilebroadly in my photo shoots. Thank you again for never judging me and offering me the best care I could hope for!Name withheld upon request. Dr. Rick: It was my privilegeto be involved in your care!

Dear Dr. Winter, I went to a dentist that told me I need12 crowns. I went to another dentist that put 5 pins in eachtooth in the back and told me I just need 4 crowns. Now I

am having pain in the teeth that have the pins and I sawanother dentist and he said the last dentist put the pins inmy canals! Help, what should I do and how do I know thebest treatment.

Dear Jane, judging by the fact that you required somany pins and the fact that another dentist asked you to do12 crowns you most likely have severe wear of yourexisting teeth, short teeth, fractures of your existing teeth

or a combination of the above. Placing pins only gives usa little help holding on to a filling and crown. Whenpeople have complex problems we need to take x-rays tolocate the canals, evaluate your bite and come up with apredictable solution. We invite you and our readers to callus at 414-464-9021 to schedule your visit and please seeour website above for photos and testimonials!

    Sincerely,

Dr. Richard Winter D.D.S. M.A.G.D.D.I.C.O.I. D.A.B.O.I. /I.D. Master AGD,Diplomate International Congress of OralImplantologists and American Board of OralImplantologists/Implant Dentists

    Falls wins summer baseball title

Cardinals third in Lakes West Division

By Thomas J. McKillenManaging EditorMenomonee Falls started fast and fin-

ished strong on the way to an 11-0 victoryover Franklin in the WIAA summer baseballchampionship game at Kapco Park inMequon July 24.

It is the first title for Menomonee Falls, which had a been a runner up four times.

"It's a relief. We've come close so manytimes with great teams," Menomonee FallsCoach Pat Hansen said afterward whilealso mentioning several players on pastteams. "It is a little bit of a validation."

In the championship game,Menomonee Falls got three runs in the firstinning as two errors kept the inning alive.

"The start was huge, because rightwhen got on Franklin, we got some muchmomentum," Josh Zahn said.

Hansen added that the lead to start thegame allowed his team to be more aggres-sive on the basepaths and also allowedhim to call for bunts to advance runners.

Menomonee Falls also scored threeruns in the second inning. With Zahn onfirst base and Jerin Frey on second base,

Zach Korburger singled and advanced ona error by the centerfielder, which allowedFrey and Zahn to score. Kornburger thenscored on a throwing error as MenomoneeFalls held a 6-0 lead after two innings.

Franklin was on the verge of getting onthe board in the bottom of the third inningas Mike Davis tripled with one out, but Fallspitcher Lukas Kell recorded two strikeoutsto end the inning.

Menomonee Falls added to its total inthe sixth inning, with Zahn and Kornburgergetting on base. Matt Emmer reached baseon a fielder's choice, and scored alongwith Zahn and Kornburger on two throwingerrors. Later in the inning, a double byMyles Mayer allowed runners BoydSansone and Brandon Kohnert to score.

"We never let up this game. We knewFranklin's a good team and they could hittheir way back," Menomonee Falls thirdbaseman Ty Weber said. "As soon we gotthose extra runs, that sealed the deal."

With Menomonee Falls leading 11-0,Franklin needed to score two runs to takethe game into the seventh inning and avoidhaving it end early under the 10-run rule. But Menomonee Falls recorded threestraight outs to seal the win. Kell recordedthree strikeouts while allowing one walkand five hits in the complete game win forMenomonee Falls.

It was the second game for both teamsthat day. Franklin opened the summer tour-nament with an 11-4 win over Plymouthwhile Menomonee Falls rallied to defeatPewaukee 8-3. In the semifinal,

Menomonee Falls scored two runs in thebottom of the third inning but Pewaukeeresponded with three runs in the top of thefourth inning.

Hansen later said his team lost some of its composure to start the fourth inning of the semifinal game against Pewaukee.

"They gathered themselves back andresponded right away. Their composureand the way they handle adversity is sec-

ond to none," Hansen said.Menomonee Falls then scored six runs

in the bottom of the fourth winning and Ty

Weber held Pewaukee scorelessKornburger came in to finish the innings.

The Sussex Cardinals were in thirdplace in the Land O'Lakes West Divisionwith a 12-5 record following a 4-3 winover the Brookfield Bulldogs July 26. Theprevious day the Cardinals lost to the

Brookfield Blue Sox, 8-4. The Cardinalswill wrap up the regular season against theNorth Lake Lakers Aug. 1.
