New faces will lead Hamilton into the newason, as the Chargers graduated severalayers that led the team to a second-roundayoff appearance last year.

We have some new faces, some guys areetty young, some guys just lack experi-

nce, Hamilton Coach John Damato saiduring a recent practice. What they all have

common is they have great attitudes andeyre putting forth their best effort at this par-

ticular time. Its a learning process everyday theyre getting a little better and thats allwe can ask for.

Damato said several starting positions arebeing contested and players know their roles.

They know that every day they have tobe accounted for and they need to be count-ed on to be the next man in, Damato said.

Running back Drew Patterson and freesafety Brett Buehler return, while Zach Gaatz

and Andrew Poenitsch return on the offensiveline.

Damato said the team has had a tremen-dous offseason to get ready for the moment.

The way that they prepared themselves, Icouldnt ask for any more, Damato said. Now its just understanding our offense, understanding our defense, understandingtheir roles on the team and then finding theirfit.

There are approximately 60 players in thevarsity squad and 145 players in the pro-gram.
