In today’s Gospel, Jesus offers three parables to describe the Kingdom of Heaven. All three parables use commonplace expe-

riences to describe aspects of the Kingdom of Heaven. The beginnings of the Kingdom of Heaven can be found in this world. The fruition of the Kingdom of Heaven, however, will not be realized until the final judgment. In the meantime, as Jesus’ expla-nation to the disciples cautions, any effort to judge the progress of the Kingdom of Heaven is premature. Only God, in the final judgment, will distinguish the fruit of the Kingdom of Heaven and offer its reward.

The second and third parables call to our attention the abundance that will result from the small beginnings of the Kingdom of Heaven. Just as a mustard seed—the smallest of all seeds—will become a large bush, so too God will bring his Kingdom to full bloom. As a small amount of yeast will leaven the entire batch of bread, so too God will bring about the expansion of his King-dom. In each case the image is of the superabundance that God brings out of even the smallest of signs of the Kingdom.

Contained within these parables are words of caution as well as words of consolation. In the parable of the sower we are war-ned against judging others. To judge and uproot the “weeds” prematurely will harm the wheat; final judgment rests with God. In the parables of the mustard seed and the yeast, we are consoled by the message that God can work wonders and produce abun-dance from even the smallest beginnings of the Kingdom of Heaven.

En el Evangelio de hoy, Jesús ofrece tres parábolas para describir el Reino de los Cielos. Las tres parábolas usan experiencias

comunes para describir aspectos del Reino de los Cielos. Los comienzos del Reino de los Cielos se pueden encontrar en este mundo. Sin embargo, la realización del Reino de los Cielos no se realizará hasta el juicio final. Mientras tanto, como advierte la explicación de Jesús a los discípulos, cualquier esfuerzo por juzgar el progreso del Reino de los Cielos es prematuro. Solo Dios, en el juicio final, distinguirá el fruto del Reino de los Cielos y ofrecerá su recompensa.

La segunda y tercera parábolas llaman nuestra atención sobre la abundancia que resultará de los pequeños comienzos del Reino de los Cielos. Así como una semilla de mostaza, la más pequeña de todas las semillas, se convertirá en un gran arbusto, también Dios hará que su reino florezca por completo. Como una pequeña cantidad de levadura fermentará todo el lote de pan, también Dios trae-rá la expansión de su Reino. En cada caso, la imagen es de la superabundancia que Dios saca incluso de los signos más pequeños del Reino.

Dentro de estas parábolas hay palabras de precaución, así como palabras de consuelo. En la parábola del sembrador se nos advierte contra juzgar a los de-más. Juzgar y desarraigar las "malas hierbas" prematuramente dañará el trigo; el juicio final descansa en Dios. En las parábolas de la semilla de mostaza y la le-vadura, nos consuela el mensaje de que Dios puede hacer maravillas y producir abundancia incluso desde los comienzos más pequeños del Reino de los Cielos.

For Weddings please book your first appointment at the office to discuss the process. Be sure to book your wedding date at the church at least 6 months in advance before making any oth-er arrangements.

Communion & Confirmations

Enrollment for 2020-2021 are now over. If you would still like to try and sign-up your child for catechism, there is no guaranteed spot, if there is there will be a $10.00 late fee.

Classes are planned to begin around the end of August, your child’s catechist will contact you to let you know what are the plans at the beginning.

We encourage you to start praying with your child and go over the booklets that was given to you at the time of registrations.

Las registraciones para el catecismo del ano 2020-2021 ya termi-naron. Si aun quiere registrar a su hijo(a), podríamos ver si aun hay lugar mas aparte se le aplicara una multa por registrarse tar-de.

Si estas planeando tu quinceañera por favor reserve tu fecha en la iglesia a lo menos 6 meses de anticipación antes de hacer cualquier otro arreglo.

La quinceañera debe de ser bautizada, tener su Primera Co-munión, y la Confirmación (al menos en la segundo semestre de segundo año de confirmación)

We will be celebrating mass outdoors alternating between Maxwell and Arbuckle. This Sunday 7/19 we will be hosting mass in the Sacred Heart parking lot in Maxwell.

English mass is at 7:00am and we will also be livestreaming mass on our Facebook.

Next Sunday, 7/26 we will hold mass in the Holy Cross parking lot in Arbuckle.
