Strong Catholic Family St. Justin Martyr Parish is a pilot parish for a new process entitled

“Strong Catholic Family” in which the Diocese or Orange is encourag-ing participation. We are forming our core team and would like to invite interested parishioners to attend an informational meeting. The process will network with our parish families to find out what areas the families or individuals feel the parish can assist them and their family with in their faith formation through programs and resources. The meeting will be conducted by Katie Dawson and Annette Venegas from the Office of Faith Formation from the Diocese. Father’s Day Novena A special way to remember your father or another special man, liv-

ing or deceased, is to enroll them in the St. Justin Martyr Father’s Day Novena of Masses. Beginning on Father’s Day, June 21, and continu-ing for nine days, the names submitted will be remembered at one Mass each of the nine days. Faith Formation Director It is a blessing to serve my home parish of Saint Justin Martyr/Sacred Heart Mission. I am a faithful member of this parish for over 27 years, having started as a volunteer catechist at the Mission Sa-cred Heart for 7 years then took the responsibility as

the coordinator of Religious Education in Spanish for ten years. For the last ten years I have been a professor for the Institute of Pastoral Ser-vices at the Diocese of Orange. I’ve been married for twenty years, and I am a proud mother of two children -- Daisy, currently a Youth Leader at our SJM Anchor group, and Danny.

I’ve been given the opportunity to minister our Parish Faith Forma-tion. I’m very excited and blessed to work with an excellent team and many good hearted volunteers. --Sandra

ALL IS GRACE On Sundays in Ordinary Time, the Old Testament

reading is selected for the light it sheds on the day's Gos-pel. Today, Ezekiel sees God lifting up the lowly tree and making the withered tree bloom. So in the second parable of today's Gospel, Jesus encourages us by prom-ising that, as fragile seeds grow into an abundant har-vest, and the tiny mustard seed into a hearty plant, so God will grow the kingdom from small beginnings to an instrument of salvation for all. In the first parable, the land yields fruit "of its own accord" (Mark 4:28). Not only is the initiative God's, but the parable teaches that the seed's growth, though invisible at first, is actually unstoppable! To be sure, those who depend on the im-pressive or dramatic in order to be convinced or encour-aged will be disappointed in the slow unfolding of the kingdom that Jesus announces. But for those who do accept the kingdom, all is grace, and that grace is cer-tain.

Though the second reading is not coordinated with either the first reading or Gospel on these Sundays, to-day's is thematically appropriate. Saint Paul argues that our experience of God's trustworthiness thus far should make us a people of undaunted courage and unshakeable faith. Treasures from our Tradition A wedding celebrated in the Eastern Church has a

form that was fixed a thousand years ago. In the West, our story is more complicated by constant change and variation. As the world's structures tottered in the ninth century, bishops and priests stepped into the void left by collapsing civil structures. For the first time, marriage was referred to as a sacrament, and wedding ceremonies were to be in public (assuring the free consent of the bride) after an investigation of the couple by a priest. The custom of the blessing of the bridal room dimin-ished, and was finally forbidden in 1012 by the Council of Rouen, although it continued for centuries. In the dio-cese of Perigueux in France, a ritual from 1827 had the parish priest clad in surplice and stole sprinkling the bridal couple as they stood modestly in their pajamas by the wedding bed. Young Adult Retreat

St. Justin Martyr Catholic Church presents the annual "Testify to Love" retreat for young adults, ages 18-39. This year’s theme is “Fix my Eyes on You”. Come hear young adults share their experiences and how they live their Faith in to-day’s society. We will discuss topics such as relationships, reconciliation, prayer, God’s love, and community. The retreat will be in English, but we invite young adults from all com-munities to come together as one Catholic family. We will enjoy meals and music together, celebrate Mass, pray, play, and learn to de-velop a deeper relationship with God and others.

The retreat will begin on Friday, July, 10, at 8:00 p.m. at St. An-drew’s Abbey in Valyermo, CA, and conclude on Sunday after the 5:30 p.m. Mass at St. Justin’s. Summer Bible School for Grades 1-6 St. Justin Martyr Faith Formation for Children is offering a one week Summer Bible

School from July 6-10 from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for children in grades 1-6. This will be a time to get familiar with some of the stories in the Bible, to sing, make crafts, pray and play. There is a $20.00 registration fee to cover the craft materials, snacks, and school supplies.

Es una bendición servir a mi casa parroquial San Justino Mártir / Misión del Sagrado Corazón. Yo siendo un miembro fiel de esta pa-rroquia desde hace más de 27 años que me inicie como catequista voluntaria en la Misión del Sagrado Corazón durante 7 años y luego tomó la responsabilidad como coor-

dinador de Educación Religiosa en español durante diez años. Durante los últimos diez años he sido profesor para el Instituto de los servicios pastorales en la Diócesis de Orange.

Soy una orgullosa madre de dos adolescentes, Daisy actual-mente es líder del grupo Juvenil de Ancla y Danny. Llevo casada ya veinte años. Se me ha dado la oportunidad de ministrar la Formación de Fe Parroquial estoy muy emocionada y bendecida de trabajar con un equipo excelente y muchos voluntarios de buen corazón.

Reflexiones para la homilía

Hay personas que no están orientadas al detalle. Ver los detalles no siempre es fácil. Es posible que se vea la imagen completa, pero hace falta una mirada muy observadora para percibir los pequeñísimos deta-lles que la componen. Cuando miramos, por ejemplo, un cuadro, no ve-mos inmediatamente todos los detalles. Cuando miramos un tejido, sabe-mos que se compone de hilos entretejidos. A veces de una manera deli-cada e intricada. Para ver los detalles de la vida hace falta, además de una mirada observadora, un corazón abierto y sensible; pero, si lo pensa-mos bien, son precisamente los detalles más pequeños (una flor, una sonrisa, una nota amable, una llamada en un momento bajo…) los que nos dan más alegría y consuelo. Son los detalles más pequeños los que nos dan la medida de las personas más grandes.

Al in y al cabo, pocos de nosotros estaremos llamados a la fama o la gloria; pero muchos de nosotros sí nos hemos visto enfrentados a la ne-cesidad de ser héroes cuando tuvimos que pasar el desierto. En el día a día, sin embargo, es en lo pequeño donde mostramos quiénes somos de verdad. A veces nos impacientamos —con nosotros mismos o con los demás— porque nos parece que lo que hacemos es demasiado pequeño, o que no consigue los resultados rápidos que esperábamos; sin embargo, todos sabemos que las semillas —incluso las de los más grandes árboles y plantas— tienen que enterrarse, desaparecer, para dar fruto muy poco a poco.

A nosotros nos queda, por tanto, la confianza en que lo que sembra-mos en nuestros hijos y en los demás en términos de verdad, bondad, paciencia, cariño, sabiduría, dará fruto en el tiempo de Dios; y también la confianza en que, lo que plantamos en nosotros mismos en la oración, la fe, el esfuerzo y la entrega a Dios, también dará sus frutos a su debido tiempo.

Tenemos la garantía que nos da el propio amor de Dios, la gracia entregada en el Bautismo, y que se nos da cada domingo en la Eucaristía; y también la gracia que nos viene por medio del amor, la paciencia, los detalles de cariño y apoyo de las personas de nuestro alrededor. Para estar seguros de tal garantía, tenemos que observar bien: mirar los deta-lles y mantener el corazón abierto y sensible.

¡Qué detalle, Señor, has tenido conmigo! Cuando me llamaste, cuando me elegiste, cuando me dijiste que fuera tu amigo…

Para la reflexión: ¿Qué detalles de otros me han animado esta sema-na? ¿Qué detalles me he esforzado por tener con las personas de mi alrededor? ¿Pierdo la confianza con facilidad?

Reflexiones sobre la Palabra, Pequeños detalles grandes Ez 17:22-24 Restaurar no es comenzar otra cosa, sino renovar lo que ya había. Aquí la comunidad del exilio recibe la promesa de ser restaurada. Yahvé comenzará su obra en Babilonia y luego iniciará algo con el resto de su pueblo. El pueblo exiliado será restablecido en el alto monte de Israel. 2 Cor 5:6-10 El vaciarse puede impresionar como algo terrible y de despojo; pero, ante Dios, éste no es un vacío, sino la obra de Dios. Mc 4:26-34 La persona humana ve y observa; pero no tiene en la mano el conseguir el Reino al final. La cosecha final refiere al juicio y a la acción de Dios al final de los tiempos. El Reino es obra del poder de Dios y no de la voluntad humana. Se habla después del grano de mostaza, la más pequeña de las semillas. Compara Jesús a esa semilla con el Reino: una realidad pobre y oscura en la que se pone de manifiesto el poder de Dios. Nuestra cultura: Muchos hispanos entienden bien lo que es sem-brar y esperar, ya que lo han hecho en su niñez o adolescencia, antes de migrar. La paciencia es algo casi connatural.

Cada santo tiene su pasado; cada pecador tiene un futuro (Continua:) En la Misión Carmelo en California, en donde Junípero Serra está enterrado, hay como seis mil indígenas sepultados bajo el estacionamiento, las oficinas y la escuela parroquial, según Vicente Medina, un nativo americano, en una entrevista para el New York Times a inicios de este año. Además, Rúper Costo, un indio Cahuilla, publicó un libro llamado Las misiones de California: un legado de genocidio. El colega escritor jesuita, James Martin, resume esta tensión de la siguiente manera: “El Beato Junípero fue un misionero infatigable, pero también se le acusa de aprobar algunos de los peores excesos del colonialismo español en la California del siglo 17. Su legado se complica aún más por el hecho de que muchos críticos mezclan lo siguiente: primero, lo que hicieron los colonizadores; segundo, lo que Junípero aprobó; y tercero, lo que el mismo Junípero hizo. Lo que parece claro, por lo menos, es que Junípero consintió el apaleamiento de la población local por los colonizadores españoles.” (America, February 23, 2015). Entonces, ¿qué hacemos? ¿Cómo un hombre santo (y el santo patrón de las vocaciones) como Junípero Serra pudo permitir que todo esto pasara y por qué? No existe alguna cosa así como un ser humano perfecto. La Igle-sia declara santos, no declara perfectos; y es esto lo que nos asemeja a los santos: todos somos imperfectos y a veces no tomamos las me-jores decisiones. La humanidad es la llave a la santidad: a pesar de nuestras limitaciones y quebrantamientos, Dios puede hacer cosas maravillosas por medio de nosotros; la gracia se edifica en la natura-leza. Mi mejor amigo dice: “cada santo tiene su pasado; cada pecador tiene un futuro”. Se puede alcanzar la santidad cuando aceptamos plenamente que somos la obra maestra de Dios y aunque tenemos nuestro pasado, estamos llamados a tener un futuro santo. ¿Cómo lo podemos lograr?

Todos los jóvenes adultos entre las edades de 18 a 29 años son invitados a nuestro retiro anual “testifica al Amor” del 10 al 12 de julio. Este año el tema es “Fija mis ojos en ti.” Pueden encontrar la aplicación para este retiro en la página de internet de San Justino Mártir. Esperamos que nos puedan acompañar para este fin de semana de reflexión y compañerismo.

Familias Católicas Fuertes Nuestra parroquia de San Justino Mártir será una parroquia de

prueba para un nuevo proceso que se titula “Familias Católicas Fuer-tes” lo cual la Diócesis está alentando participar. Estamos formando nuestro equipo central y quisiéramos invitar a parroquianos interesa-dos a asistir. El proceso trabajara con familias parroquiales para ave-riguar cuáles aéreas las familias o individuales piensan que la parro-quia puede ayudarles a ellos y sus familias en su formación de fe por medio de los programas y recursos. La junta será conducida por Ka-tie Dawson y Annette Venegas de la oficina de Formación de Fe de la Diócesis. La junta se llevara fa cabo el Martes, 16 de junio, 2015 de 7 p.m. a 8:30 p.m. en el salón SRE. Por favor de contactar la oficina de la rectoría al 714-774-2595 si quisieran asistir a esta junta.

MISMO TIEMPO RECADEN FONDOS PARA SJM Por la primera vez en décadas los fuegos pirotécnicos son legales en la

ciudad de Anaheim. Ayuden a recaudar fondos para la Iglesia de San Justino Mártir al comprar sus fuegos pirotécnicos en esta TNT en el Honda Center. El Honda Center es la UNICA localidad en la ciudad de Anaheim donde los fue-gos pirotécnicos serán vendidos. La venta comienza el 28 de Junio, tres días antes de CUALQUIER OTRA LOCALIDAD. Traigan con ustedes el volante que se encuentra en la página 6 de este boletín a la localidad del HONDA CENTER SOLAMENTE. Cuando hagan su compra, ellos van a escanear el volante y 30% de sus ganancias regresaran a la iglesia. Pueden hacer copias y dar a sus ami-gos y familiares, solo esté seguros de traerlo al HONDA CENTER solamente, otros lugares no beneficiaran a la parroquia. No hay límite del numero de volan-tes que puedan copiar, solo que el nombre de la parroquia y el código de barras estén claramente legibles.
