St. Gerard Majella 1726-1755 Feast Day: October 16 Patron of Expectant Mothers St. Gerard was born in Muro, Italy, and joined the Re-demptorists at the age of 23, becoming a professed lay brother in 1752. He served as sacristan, gardener, por-ter, and tailor. However, because of his great piety, ex-traordinary wisdom, and his gift of reading consciences, he was permitted to counsel communities of religious women. This humble servant of God also had the facul-ties of levitation and bi-location associated with certain mystics. His charity, obedience, and selfless service as well as his ceaseless mortification for Christ, made him the perfect model of lay brothers. He was afflicted with tuberculosis and died in 1755 at the age of twenty-nine.

Protocol for Scheduling Events, Drives, Fundraisers, Etc. When planning events, drives, fundraisers and other church functions, please keep in mind that all scheduling must go through the Rectory Office either in person or over the phone. One of our staff members will gladly as-sist you in scheduling your event or in finding an accepta-ble alternate date if there is a conflict. Please note: ask-ing a Priest permission to hold a function, fundraiser, or drive at Sunday Mass does not secure a date. You still must go through the Rectory Office and the Pastor.

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a nee-dle than for one who is rich to enter the kingdom of God.” (Mark 10:25) These words of Jesus are so harsh that sometimes we are tempted to ignore them, thinking that He really could not have meant them. Yet when our lives revolve around too many material possessions it is difficult to find the necessary time for God, for salvation and for God’s be-loved poor.

Dates to Remember

Parish Food Pantry Many people only donate to food pantries at holiday times, but we want to thank you, for being so consistent all year round, with your generous giving. In spite of what time of the year it may be, you have never stopped sharing with those less fortunate. We thank you from the bottom of our hearts. *Donations to our Food Pantry con-sist of non-perishable foods: such as soups, sauces, pas-ta, rice, cereals, dry milk, canned vegetables, as well as toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, etc.) Please leave your donations in one of the vestibules facing the parking lot or at the Rectory during business hours. *Before you donate food from your own pantry, please check all goods for expiration dates. If any food is outdat-ed, please discard it. As always we deeply appreciate your generosity. Because of you, many families in our community are able to have healthy meals.

Men and women can become involved in the life of our Parish by becoming an Altar Server, Catechist, Choir Member, Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist, Lector, and/or Usher. By tak-ing an active role in the liturgical life, and service of the Par-ish, you can have a wonderful experience.
