Since the changes in the Church, few parishes have any kind of dress code. Here, however, we still believe that modesty and appropriate attire are necessary, especially in Church out of reverence for the Blessed Sacrament. Please observe these minimum standards of dress for attendance at Church services: Women and girls must cover their heads. Chapel veils or mantillas are available for loan in the vestibule. They should also wear dresses or skirts that cover the knee completely when standing or sitting; slacks and shorts are not permitted, nor is sleeveless, tight or low-cut clothing. Men and boys should wear a suit coat and tie. (High temps—suit coat optional) Jeans & other casual attire are inappropriate for attendance at Church services. Also, unless you have been attending the Latin Mass exclusively, you should refrain from receiving Holy Communion until you have met with Father. There is a hot breakfast served downstairs after Mass, to which you are cordially invited. * * *Remember in your wills… Catholics to whom God has granted a certain degree of wealth should return some of it to Him in thanksgiving, remembering that He gives wealth only as a trust. . . *** They should remember the Church in their wills. Lent is on its way… Every good Catholic will be thinking of special things to do and offer up during
these forty days in order to help us grow in our LOVE for Jesus Crucified, and to follow more closely in His footsteps.
Last year, one of our parishioners made it her sacrifice to completely refinish the
pedestal in the vestibule, which holds the Infant of Prague statue. It took MUCH
time, but it made a BIG difference! (in more ways than one!)
There are countless areas in and around our Church that are just looking for someone to
notice them, and to volunteer to “pick up the slack!”
Feel free to look around, and ask the Sisters if you can deal with one of those
“eye-sores” that are crying out for attention, making it your
“sphere of sacrifice” during Lent!

How easy to human nature — “When the novelty wears off, we forget about it!”
Let’s not let this happen! The little weekly offerings ARE making a differ-ence, and we hope that EVERYONE will again pick up an empty envelope from the
little box on the right (in the vestibule).
Your fidelity to this little sacrifice is making a BIG difference!
When you bring your offering back the next Sunday, please do not write on it or seal it; drop it either in the collection basket, or
in the larger box on the left (in the vestibule). How pleased is Almighty God to see this
little sacrifice being consistently made eve-ry week. You would probably agree that it
is more of a sacrifice just to remember to do it (and the “bother” that this is), — than is the little offering in an envelope itself. Of course, you are free to put all four weeks’
offerings in one envelope once a month too, if that works better for you!
Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Today is one of the oldest of the liturgical feasts in honor of Our Lady.
The priest will come to the altar, bless the candles, and distribute them to the people as they kneel at the Communion rail. When receiving your candle, first kiss the
candle, then the priest’s hand, and receive the candle from Father. The procession will be headed by the priest and servers, followed by the choir.
Everyone else will remain in their pews. Candles were specially purchased so that every family would have 2 of THESE
blessed candles in their homes. We would ask that only two candles are taken to each home/family; if your family receives more than two, please leave the extras in your pew,
in order that we can make be sure that 2 candles go to each home, and have extra.
Just a reminder… *** Building Fund Envelopes ***
The response to our appeal for greater participation in the monthly pledge to the Building Fund has been most heartening.
Please do what is needed to remember to send your pledge in each month!
The need for the continued repair and finishing of our Church is quite obvious to all! As you look around and see the many areas that need work, remember that we
do need dedicated volunteers to “tackle” some of the smaller tasks!
Obviously, the major renovations will necessarily involve large expense, and it for this cause that we established many years ago the
“Building Fund Envelopes.” Please consider this worthwhile commitment to your Church. May God reward you! ….. You can see from the above total that we
have good capital now to be able to take on a couple major projects soon.
More packets for 2020 are still available on the giftshop counter downstairs!
