We are all very excited about this development

and look forward to welcoming everyone back to

school on Monday. For the rest of this week, our

school remains in Phase 1 of our managed return to

schooling for our students. To date, this has been

extremely successful in minimising the number of

students on site whilst also providing the opportunity

for students to experience at least one day of

teacher and classmates.

School students do not need to follow strict adult

physical distancing guidelines, but should follow

good hygiene practices like:

regularly washing hands.

avoiding sharing drinks or food.

coughing or sneezing into your elbow, or a

maintaining physical distancing from teachers

and school staff.

School attendance

All students should be at school unless:

they have a medical certificate which states

that they are unable to return to school due to

an ongoing medical condition.

they are currently unwell.

Students who have a medical certificate to stay at

home will be supported to learn from home in line

with regular procedures if they are able to. These

regular procedures are different from what was

offered during the learning from home period.

Please do not send you child to school if they are

unwell. If they are unwell at school, you or your

nominated emergency contact will need to

collect them immediately. Please ensure your

child’s contact details are up to date.

There may be individual cases or circumstances

Bell times

Through this recent period of a managed return,

we have had modified breaks which vary from our

regular break times. This has not reduced break

time but has evenly spread playtime across breaks.

This will continue for the remainder of the term with

1st break from 11:30-12:00 and 2nd break from

1:40-2:10. Both breaks have 10 minutes eating time

with your child’s class teacher prior to playtime.

Canteen opening

Our P&C has advised that our canteen will be

operational from next week. Our first canteen day

will be Wednesday 28 May. Our canteen days

remain Wednesday and Friday.

Returning of school devices

All students who borrowed devices over the

learning from home period are asked to return the

laptop, charger and mouse provided. Students are

asked to take these straight to their classrooms on

Monday morning where the teacher will sign the

device back into the school.

Where our younger students may have borrowed

these devices, we will have a drop off area at the

front gate on Monday morning where staff can

assist our K-2 students with their returns.

Pedestrian crossing

Our school carpark works continue and we look

forward to ensuring continued pedestrian safety

and structures for our families coming to and from

school. We ask parents to please support us in

these endeavours and lead by example by using

our designated pedestrian crossing and not

crossing the road going between the buses in our

bus zone. This ensures your children learn and

continue to use the road safety messages we

teach in our classrooms every year.

Update on Infrastructure Improvements

Work on the school carpark is progressing well. All

concrete and asphalt will be laid this week and

fencing will be installed. Line markings will be

added next week and it is expected that the

carpark will re-open by the end of the month.

The covered walkway to the hall will also be

completed this week with the addition of the final

sections of roofing and handrail.

There has been a slight delay to the installation of

fencing at the front of the school and around the

K-2 playground. The required fences and gates are

being made to order and will be installed this

Saturday 23 May 2020.

Thank you for your patience and cooperation,

particularly as we deal with the additional

challenges of maintaining social distancing while

construction is underway.

Earphones for school use

For your convenience, earphones for students’

classroom are now available for purchase from our

front office. They are $5.00 a pair (cost price). POP

payment through the school website is available.

Have a wonderful final week of online learning,

Joanna Henderson

Principal

What memories are your family making this weekend?

Try something new like:

Building and flying a kite

Catch and release some bugs or tadpoles

Handball competitions

Take a family walk somewhere new

The recommendations are that children should spend

at least 60 minutes undertaking huff and puff physical

activity and spend no more than 2 hours per day

watching screens.

My School Connect

Don’t forget you can use our online ordering

platform to order your child’s lunch from the

canteen. It’s easy and convenient.
