March has come and it’s sure to be a rousing and busy month for all of us. As we prepare to end the first quarter of 2015, we bring to you an exciting new product launch that’s sure to be a hit with Filipinas across the nation. This month also marks the conclusion of several of our selling and teambuilding challenges. It’s truly an exciting month to be with Mary Kay!

I am very eager and thrilled to share with you the new MelaCEP Plus+ Ultimate Serum with the power of Luminous Complex. As we all know, whitening products have a large share of the skin care market in the Philippines. Given its popularity and Mary Kay’s brand guarantee, both loyal and potential customers are sure to love this product. To boost your confidence and enhance your knowledge about this new product, I encourage you to attend the Product Knowledge Workshops scheduled this month.

This month also marks the conclusion of two of our Selling and Team Building Challenges – the Asia Pacific Red Jacket Rally and the On The Move Rally. These challenges go beyond the prizes but also serve as your stepping stones towards a more fulfilled Mary Kay career. March also brings us closer to the Grow. Career Conference 2015 and I encourage all of you to invite all your team members and fellow beauty consultants to attend this very special event. Coinciding with our 15th Anniversary month, it promises to be the biggest and best yet – filled with bonding and learning opportunities as well as bursting with inspiration and motivation from our line-up of seasoned mentors.

Amalia, fondly known as Lea, recalls the most unforgettable lesson she learned during her time in China last year, as a 2014 Asia Pacific Red Jacket Rally Achiever – it was a simple story about an eagle trying to learn how to fly. The little eagle failed and fell so many times that she got frustrated and gave up. Until one day, she witnessed an older eagle fly, and saw the scars on the elder’s wings – marks of failures but also proof of its great persistence. She realized that without challenges and setbacks, we cannot learn how to fly. Obstacles and failures eventually become our strength in order to succeed and soar like eagles in the sky.

Achieving the 2014 Asia Pacific Red Jacket Rally Challenge was really the start of it all, says Lea. “After the 5-day training and hearing all the great mentors and speakers, I returned more motivated and inspired than ever, thinking if they can do it, there’s no reason why I can’t, too. I shared all that I learned with my team, practiced what I learned, and challenged them all to do the same. Sure enough, my sales production doubled right after getting back from China.”

A true achiever, Lea says she made sure to build a strong foundation when she was just getting started in her Mary Kay business back in January 2014. “I wasn’t an Independent Sales Director yet but I was already imagining and thinking of myself as one,” she declares. “I saw the beautiful Mary Kay career path and just knew I had to follow it. I booked classes, built my team, and became Top in Recruiting in the country on my first month. I knew I needed people behind me, those who can share my dreams and chase after their own. Within three months, I was preparing to be a Sales Director.”

Leadership seems to come naturally to Lea, who apart from being a Mary Kay Independent Senior Sales Director, also serves as a legislator, being the Chairwoman of the Committee on Health in their municipality of Inabanga in Bohol. As a student, she was an active officer of their student body. Mary Kay is different from being a legislator though, she says. “As a legislator, I enrich the lives of my constituents through laws and ordinances but in Mary Kay, I have the opportunity to personally reach out and be with them. I make it a point to meet all my new team members; I attend their events and do monthly unit meetings. There’s a personal touch in Mary Kay and that’s important when it comes to building a trusting and fruitful relationship.”

Just like the older eagle in the story, Lea inspires each and every one in her team to fly and reach for their goals. “I encourage them to go after their own targets, and make their own achievements,” says Lea. “I always say, whatever happens, there’s nothing to lose and everything to gain. Whether you achieve the challenge or not, you would have gained more team members and raised your sales. We must not be afraid of failure but instead use them as stepping stones.”

When asked which of her achievements she’s most proud of, Lea mentions her two offspring Sales Directors. It’s a testament, she says, of how she was able to share the rewarding Mary Kay opportunity with other people. In the future, she wants to keep building more Directors, expand her team beyond Bohol and reach out to more Filipinas – in keeping with the vision of having one Beauty Consultant per barangay.

Lea’s Advice on Becoming an Achiever:1. Plan and Act. It’s important to first know where you’re going, how to get there, and then work towards getting there. Just one without the other won’t get you anywhere. There has to be a balance.

2. Track your progress. When she was aiming for China, Lea had a board for plotting and monitoring her sales. Doing so will allow you to see how far you have to go, how many more classes you need to book or sales you need to make. Plus, it gives you a concrete vision of your goal and helps to break it into “bite-sized” pieces.

3. No short cuts. Lea emphasizes choosing what is right over what is easy. The Mary Kay opportunity is certainly rewarding but it takes hard work and determination. Follow the Golden Rule to keep the trust and good relationships with your fellow beauty consultants.

4. Time management. During her DIQ period, Lea booked 3 classes a day. Before she began her Mary Kay business, she would get up at 6 but only start work at 9 or 10. Now, she allows no minute to go to waste.

5. Share the goal/dream. Sharing your goal will make it clearer plus give you accountability towards them. Moreover, you have a better chance of meeting like-minded people who can help you achieve them.

3. Failure to submit the required documents (signed BCA, valid picture ID) within 30 days will result to the automatic suspension of account from ordering.
