It’s that most wonderful time of the year once more! I can only imagine how busy you all are with all the Holiday Rush, parties and much-awaited family reunions. But even as we run to-and-fro from event to event, I hope that we also take this time to look back and reflect on what has been a very eventful year. Let us take time to praise the Almighty for both the challenges and blessings He has gifted us in 2015.

Independent Sales Director Virginia Estepa, more well-known throughout Mary Kay Philippines as “Virgie" described herself as a devoted housewife prior to being introduced to Mary Kay opportunity some six years ago. She had been invited to a skin care class during which she immediately fell in love with the products introduced. Very soon however, Virgie grew to love more than its products as she got to know more about Mary Kay Ash, her ideals and the Company that became the concrete expression of One Woman’s passion and drive to succeed.

According to her, “Mary Kay is quite unique because of its unparalleled opportunity for women, its top quality products, teaching approach to skin care like the try before you buy approach and most of all because of its fundamental core value – the Golden Rule.”

Virgie signed up as a Beauty Consultant in 2008 and debuted as an Independent Sales Director in January of 2009. She is also a Direct Selling Association of the Philippines 2015 Awardee. Today she heads a unit of more than 300 Independent Beauty Consultants and Directors. She values her team the most as an Independent Sales Director. Coaching is her preferred style of leadership and aims to help her team build lasting relationships that are essential to the success of their own Mary Kay business.

Indeed, the emphasis she puts on relationships has paid off as she was crowned this Seminar Year’s Queen of Court of Sharing which she considers as her proudest achievement in Mary Kay. She says, “Being awarded as the Queen of Court of Sharing is amazing and fulfilling. It really boosted my confidence to share the business opportunity even more.”

Queens & king of seMinARFor 15 years, Independent Senior Sales Director Marita Del Corro’s formula for success has remained the same – humility, hard work and the Mary Kay way. It’s a formula that has guided her through years of success and earned her the Queen of Unit Sales throne for the fourth time and a Direct Selling Association of the Philippines 2015 Hall of Famer.

Marita discusses each one. She says, “Success is nothing without humility.The more you become successful, the more you should be humble. I believe it’s so important to look back to where I began. Whenever I celebrate my Mary Kay anniversary, I bring an anniversary basket to my customers because I know without them I would not have made it here. It’s one way of saying thank you and showing my gratitude.”

Regarding hard work and the Mary Kay way she shares, “Hard work is of course important in any business. It takes discipline. Since I became an Independent Sales Director, I haven’t missed a single month of unit meetings or newsletters. I am considered strict but I wear that as a badge of honor, I consider it a compliment because I know that I am teaching my unit members the right way of conducting their business. To stay long in this business, you must follow the right culture, values and priorities because I believe that if you start right, you can finish strong.”

Marita dedicates and owes her success to her family – her husband Ernie and their three sons Jomar, Ian and Ernest as well as her extended family including her mother and siblings. She also underscores how important her unit members are to her and considers them her most important asset as an Independent Sales Director.

Marita shares, “I think what sets my unit apart from the rest is the number of tenured Beauty Consultants and Sales Directors who have stuck by my side. They are my true secret to success. More than performance, I believe that relationships are important. As Mary Kay Ash said, it’s not profit and loss but people and love.”

Marita shares that her biggest dream is to become a National Sales Director by 2017. She has begun building her future area and is currently nurturing more Red Jackets and Sales Directors. She shares, “My greatest goal is to sell the Mary Kay Dream to more women and inspire them to aim to become a National Sales Director too. I believe that to have a truly enriched and beautiful life filled with values and empowered choices, women such as I need to be in Mary Kay.”

Brimming over with enthusiasm and passion, Independent Sales Director Meljureto Calfoforo, or Mel, takes delight in embracing, loving and sharing Mary Kay products that make women feel beautiful, confident and connected. In 2012, Mel became a Hong Kong trip achiever and what started as a desire to travel turned into the wonderful beginning of his journey with Mary Kay. In 2013, Mel debuted as a Sales Director.

Looking to the future, Mel uses the same passion and enthusiasm to pursue the “biggest and wildest” dreams he has for his Mary Kay business – to become a National Sales Director, an Ambassador of Beauty and an inspiration to all. He considers the Golden Rule Customer Service as the key towards realizing these goals.

According to him, “What sets Mary Kay apart is the Company’s heart. In this business, you are not alone. In fact, you are surrounded by women with experience and knowledge who want to guide and support you. That’s the Mary Kay difference. It’s about sharing, growing and celebrating with you as you achieve milestones big and small.”

Mel recently achieved another big milestone in his own career, having been crowned as King of Personal Sales in the Sales Director category – his proudest achievement to date. A firm believer in the Mary Kay opportunity, Mel’s deepest desire is to continue discovering life-changing opportunities as his journey with Mary Kay unfolds.

The only formula to success, he shares, is to follow the Mary Kay way and be consistent in doing the business. “First,” he advises, “Find your Hostesses. They are all around you! Take a look at your customer list. Would any of them want to earn free Mary Kay products? That’s an invitation that’s hard to resist. Then, just book. Schedule appointments to introduce and sell Mary Kay products. No’s happen. You have to be persistent. Just go, go go!”

Independent Beauty Consultant Cherrie Villanueva loved Mary Kay products so much that she decided to share it with her friends. Signing up as an Independent Beauty Consultant in 2011, she has since shared the beauty of Mary Kay to more and more Filipinas.

It’s this passion for sharing what she loved that helped her become First Princess in the Court of Personal Sales (Beauty Consultant) in 2014. Cherrie has only grown stronger in the past year and now holds the Queen’s crown in the Court of Personal Sales (Beauty Consultant) Philippine Seminar 2015.

Her family and, most especially, her daughter Athena have been her greatest motivator. Cherrie shares, “I’m so proud of becoming a Queen because I see that my daughter is so proud of me. Last year, when I became first princess, I saw that my daughter really wanted to walk on the Seminar stage. She told me, ‘Mom if you become Queen next year I’m going to make a speech too!’ So I kept our shared dream tattooed on my mind and heart. For the next 11 months, I kept my excitement of hearing her speak on stage alive.”

Cherrie balances her Mary Kay business alongside her responsibilities of being a mother and wife as well as working as a flight attendant. Though she confesses that it takes a lot of perseverance and hard work in order to manage everything, her hard work has consistently paid off and has been worth it. She says, “Becoming part of Mary Kay has been like a dream come true. I can’t live without Mary Kay – not just the products, not just the opportunity to sell what I love, but also because of the Company’s values and how it creates a positive attitude. Your attitude will always bring you to the top.”

When it comes to selling, Cherrie believes in the adage that the best way to sell is not to sell anything – at least, not in the traditional sense of selling products. Instead, she advises, “First, you must become a model of your own product and believe in yourself. Develop the belief that you have something valuable inside of you that the world wants and it will be so. Never forget that hard work will get you through life and will excite you if you add a whole lot of inspiration and faith to it.”

Independent Senior Sales Director Bella Concepcion considers the Go-Give® Award, Mary Kay’s most prestigious award, as a beautiful surprise and great blessing from God. In her mind, she was merely doing what she thought was right and putting into practice what she learned in Mary Kay – the Golden Rule and the value of making people feel important.

“The Go-Give Spirit is simple,” says Bella. “It’s simply doing what is right in whatever situation you find yourself in, without thinking of what you will get out of it. I put myself in the shoes of other people and think about how I would like to be treated. More than that, I think about what is the best way to be obedient to God.”

Bella began her career with Mary Kay Philippines in 2008 after working as an OFW for thirteen years. At first, she saw Mary Kay as just a way to earn enough money to go back abroad and work as a nurse. She saw it as an easy way to get her visa. But after a year, all her plans changed.

“I saw the flexibility that the Mary Kay career path offered and the unlimited opportunity it afforded,” she stated. “But more than that, I caught the vision. Because of Mary Kay, I came to have a deeper relationship with God and learned that if you pursue the dream that He stored in your heart, nothing is impossible.”

Independent Senior Sales Director Marissa Magtoto’s Mary Kay story started in 2001, upon coming back to the Philippines after more than 18 years of living in Saudi Arabia with her husband and children. Upon arriving back in her home country, Marissa wondered what she could do to support her family. So, it was a well-timed opportunity when her best friend asked for her company during a guest event at the New World Hotel where Marissa experienced her first free Mary Kay facial.

She was at first hesitant to sign up, being naturally shy. She thought that she would not have what it takes to become an Independent Beauty Consultant. But by then she had fallen in love with the products and the Starter Kit. After her first skin care class at a bank became a success, she found that she did have what it takes and that the products actually sold themselves.

Very soon, it wasn’t just the products she was sharing but also the Mary Kay opportunity that benefited her so much. Marissa says, “For me, sharing the Mary Kay opportunity is a matter of helping people help themselves. I want to show people that through Mary Kay, they can earn a decent living and uplift themselves financially.”

From this attitude of sharing and giving naturally came the embodiment of the Mary Kay Go-Give spirit. Marissa has great plans for her future in Mary Kay including helping more of her unit members become leaders. She is also aiming to become a National Sales Director in the future. A. New Sales Directors from September 1, 2014 onwards must complete the following requirements:

• Must be a Sales Director for less than one year by August 1, 2015• P2.5 Million cumulative unit sales with personal sales of at least P200,000 during the challenge period• 18 new team members with P36,000 cumulative personal sales each within the challenge period and active in the month of January 2016• 30 active unit members every month from August 1, 2015 until January 31, 2016• Minimum 50 unit size (non-terminated) by January 31, 2016• No month lower than P250,000 and must be a Sales Director in good standing (not in flag status) every month from August 1, 2015 until March 31, 2016• Has attended New Independent Sales Director education

B. Tenured Sales Directors from August 1, 2014 and earlier must complete the following requirements:

• P6 Million cumulative unit sales with personal sales of at least P200,000 during the challenge period• 18 new team members with P36,000 cumulative personal sales each within the challenge period and active in the month of January 2016• 30 active unit members every month from August 1, 2015 until January 31, 2016• Minimum 50 unit size (non-terminated status) by January 31, 2016• No month lower than P250,000 and must be a Sales Director in good standing (not in flag status) every month from August 1, 2015 until March 31, 2016• Has 1 qualified new Sales Director

NEW INDEPENDENT SALES DIRECTORS (must be a Sales Director for less than one year by August 1, 2015)

TENURED INDEPENDENT SALES DIRECTORS (from August 1, 2014 and earlier)

1. Tenured Sales Directors in Executive Senior Sales Director level will be allowed to achieve and join once effective 2015 Catch the Dream challenge.

2. CTD achievers as of end of March 31, 2016 will be declared as achievers for the May/June 2016 trip and will be recognized in the Career Conference in 2016.

3. Dallas Educational Trip will be scheduled on: May or June 2016 to include tour of the Mary Kay museum, Manufacturing Plant and Dallas offices. Three-day training will focus on leadership building and skill enhancement to be conducted by US Nationals, ESSDs and Sales Education team of MK Dallas.

4. Achievers are responsible for their own passports and visa application. MKP will take care of the fees for the achievers’ first visa application. Passports should be applied and renewed as early as July 2015 to ensure that their passports are still valid for travel until May/June 2016. We advise to schedule Visa Appointments as early as February 2016. Penalties and surcharges that arise from late bookings due to the delayed submission of visa and/or passport documents will be shouldered by the achiever.

5. In the event that achievers cannot avail of the trip due to non-issuance of visas for whatever reason, there will be no cash conversion. Visa application would also be shouldered by the achievers.

6. Achievers must travel to Dallas first and take their side trip after. Achievers who opt to take different routes for their side trips after the Dallas education trip will have to book their own plane flights and advance their airfares with the travel agency. Written notice must be submitted to the Company on or before March 1, 2016; otherwise, it will be presumed that the winner is taking the trip on the regular route and the Company will confirm their reservation. Should there be any changes made after on the route, the achiever shall shoulder all corresponding booking charges. The Company will only reimburse the costs incurred on the regular travel route to Dallas.

7. The Company reserves the right to change, amend or revise the rules as deemed necessary for the best interests of the Company.

8. The Company reserves the right to verify qualification achieved. If misrepresentation is discovered, this could cause forfeiture of prize and/or termination of Independent Beauty Consultant Agreement.
